happytravels
I'm not confident I understand the possibilities of the Bio IA. Labs are not my strong suit, so I'm interested in doing a data based report. Am I correct in thinking this does not require hands on experimentation? Do you form a research question/hypothesis as normal and find the answer in comparing data? My teacher has been little help as it's his first year as in IB teacher. Also, we will have two hours of class time before a six hour stint in a university lab, followed by another two hours of class time. Would this change the possibilities of a data based assessment? Thank you Reply
anthropo
A few people in my class are doing data-based reports and you still have to formulate a research question and hypothesis. https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/server2/rest/app/tsm.xql?doc=d_4_biolo_tsm_1408_1_e∂=1&chapter=1 You can find a few samples in the link above to get an idea of the sort of structure you're aiming for, but make sure that you pay attention to the criteria of the IA since some parts of the criteria seem like they would be a little more difficult to get marks for on a data-based report compared to a hands-on experiment.
