I'd like some advice with my EE

I'll get down to the issue. The problem that strikes me personally with my EE, is that I simply do not and cannot find a topic that I am deeply interested in enough to write about. Every recommendation I receive from peers or the internet is out of my reach (i.e. dance, Rubik's cube, robotics). Basically, my only skills are browsing Netflix at 1:00 in the morning (I still get fairly good grades for anyone judging), and being weeaboo trash. That said, my options have been narrowed down to an analysis of whether the Khmer Rouge rose due to the U.S. exclusively or weaknesses in the Cambodian government, or something french history related (still vague as we are currently finding EE supervisors). The reason I don't go ahead with that, is as previously stated, I don't care enough about it and I worry I will abandon it halfway through and get frustrated writing an 'assignment' instead of a form of self-expression. So I guess the real purpose of writing this at 10:00 at night is to ask for the opinion of the IB alumni and students that make up the user audience of this website.

1. Are the example topics I stated good enough? Will I have enough to work with?

2. If I want to do the Khmer Rouge, my first pick is a teacher who has spent some time in Cambodia. Downside is, he's never done an EE before, but I still have him as a strong option since he's my CAS supervisor as well. The reason I'm not asking my HL history teacher is that he was snatched up in a few days. Is the trade-off of EE experience for personal experience something shaky to work with? Should I be concerned at my CAS supervisor's EE abilities? I feel inclined to think that I don't have to worry about it, but it's the blinking red light in the back of my head that makes me wary.

3. If I did the french history EE, I'd have to ask my french teacher, who teaches SL French and AP French, (and french IV, which is mostly history). I'm sure he has more experience, but I'm wishy washy on that still since I don't know french history inside and out (at least, not as well as I know American history).

4. I'm a lazy slacker and we need to find supervisors for tomorrow. Probably shoulda looked sooner or asked sooner. Wow. I'm screwed.

5. ^^In response to that, I think some advice in hindsight can provide me with some foresight, in how to pursue the EE as I move forward, so don't let that deter posting your advice

6. Yes, I admit I'm pretty stupid and my time management is about as efficient as 15th century matchlock rifles, but can I get some feedback, on absolutely anything, any stray thoughts, anything that you found helpful in writing your essay?

A lot of people end up changing their topic, even subject, months into the EE (don't be one of us). Talk to all the advisers you are considering. Chances are not all of them will like the idea you are pitching but if just one says it's ok, do some follow up brief outlining your idea and present them to her/him. It's very critical at this stage that you do a project you foresee yourself finish without much challenge. For example if you need detailed summaries of Cambodian laws in 1970s and IF you can't find any with some quick searches online and in databases, you know that you should probably focus on another aspect or entirely another topic. 

When you don't care about EE grades (as long as you pass), you should pick a topic in a subject in which when you do struggle you immediately are able to find resolutions. You just don't want spend some nights thinking about how hard the EE can be without being productive. With that logic, don't get overly ambitious, you are only to spend around 40 hours on it.
