Andy K.
Hi people! I'm writing my first in class essay tomorrow about the 1917 Bolshevik Russian Revolution and while I am preparing, I would just like to get some insights from other students who have written IB History essays in the past (just in general, regardless of the topic). 1. What structure do you generally follow when you write? (Just wondering if there are other ways to approach this other than my own) 2. Some crucial tips when writing a history essay? Since this would be my first one, I want to make sure that I am not deviating too much from the ideal structure. Thank you very much all for your insights! IB_taking_over
1. Intro with a thesis that directly answers the question 2-3 paragraphs of a body. making sure there's more than just narration of the events that happened conclusion the restates the thesis and summarizes my argument. no new information 2. Make an outline - it helps to weed out some information and prevents you from writing down everything you know. Be analytical - pick a side and do more than just present facts watch the clock - time goes by faster than you think.... Reply
