Momentum and impulse question

Hi, im wondering how to solve this problem in physics.

Two masses of 2.0 kg and 4.0 kg are held in place, compressing a spring between them. When they are released, the 2.0 kg moves away with a speed of 3.0 m/s. What was the energy stored in the spring?

The initial momentum is equal to the final momentum. The stored energy is transferred to the kinetic energies after release. Now if you can figure out the mass and speed of both objects then you can find total kinetic energy, which comes from elastic potential energy.
