hanksparker14
I have a couple weeks before I need to present my Literature IOP and I'm still wading through ideas. My idea for my IOP topic is: How does Herman Hesse use astronomy in Siddhartha? Any feedback? Thanks Edited November 17, 2016 by hanksparker14 1 Reply
tim9800
Your IOP Topic at the moment is quite closed-ended (i.e. can be answered easily with little room for discussion). Moreover, if 'astronomy' is the theme you are interested in discussing, an authour does not 'use' astronomy in their text, they explore/discuss it and how it is portrayed in the text. My advice to you is to change the 'How' into an opener that stimulates more debate, such as 'To what extent', 'For what purpose', or even both. Also consider discussing two (or more) themes if you don't think that one is enough material to talk about for 10 minutes / naturally complements another theme.
