Yun
Hello, I just finished my Maths IA, and I included some maths beyond the syllabus. Is this ok? I have heard from the teacher that it is ok if the level of maths is used is beyond the syllabus, but has problems when one used way easy and basic maths. Thanks Reply
kw0573
As long as you present the content clearly and correctly, there is not an issue to use content beyond or outside of the syllabus. Reply
IB Math Helper
It's almost better for Math HL students to use material beyond the syllabus. Criterion E focuses on precision, rigour and sophistication of notation and mathematical understanding instead of just a thorough understanding. So you should be fine as long as you've done a good job of explaining steps and assumptions clearly. Reply
