Han Le
For my IOP, I will do a deconstruction analysis of the role of femininity in The Things They Carried, specifically Mary Anne's role. I want to be creative with the format, though. Any suggestions? Reply
Blackcurrant
It depends what you want to show / reveal about her. Anything goes, but it may not suit the kind of knowledge and understanding you want to show. Be more precise? Reply
melodrama_lorde
There were a handful of people who started with a spoken word introduction, and used the spoken word as a way to segue into the actual analysis. Another option for the more daring is to begin with a monologue from the perspective of whichever character you're analyzing Reply
jacksonhuang
Here are some random, hopefully creative, ideas that you can use for your IOP. Pretend to be a liberal talkshow host who is reviewing the book for the show's audience. Pretend to be the author in an imaginative scenario (e.g. regretting certain ways in which he explored the issue of feminism, why they work effectively or ineffectively, and what he would change in a second edition of the book). Pretend to be a college professor who is teaching his/her class about feminism, and use this book as a stimulus for discussion. There are lots and lots of ideas. Hope these suggestions help you out!
