What do I do for my Undergraduates?

Hi all,

My subject choices for IB are: HL: Literature, Maths and Economics       SL: Physics, Spanish and Business

I am thinking of doing either engineering or designing for my undergrads, followed by MBA for my masters degree, wishing to go towards marketing as I am very creative. The types of engineering that attracted me are Aeronautical and Mechanical, and I like Graphic Designing, did that for my GCSEs and got an A. So what do you guys say?

Hey there!

Marketing for Masters sounds like a solid plan! I'm doing Graphic Design as undergraduate :)  We can't really tell you what to do because this is your future and only you can tell what interests you and what you'd like to be. I can advise you on graphic design though. It depends where you'd like to study if you want to go into design. In the UK there's plenty of great options. All of them require portfolios showing your research, planning and final works, of course. Their IB requirements are quite lenient though, leaning towards 28 points minimum. The choice design schools I'm applying to are UAL (http://www.arts.ac.uk/) and Goldsmiths (http://www.gold.ac.uk/), as well as a couple others such as University of Reading (http://www.reading.ac.uk/) and Kingston (http://www.kingston.ac.uk/). If you end up going into design, I highly recommend you check them out.

Now obviously, engineering may be a more professional path... but do what makes you the happiest because if you study something you don't enjoy/enjoy less than something else, what's the point? Out of engineering and designing, decide which one interests you more. There's very possible careers and paths in either of them. Design can lead you into marketing, art directing, advertising/publishing, etc.

If you ever need help in making the decision since they're quite different fields, speak to your IB coordinator or academic guidance counsellor in your school and they'd love to further advise you on what you can take in uni.

Good luck in the IB!
