Skesh123
Hello, everybody! I am a grade 11 student and I am currently working on finding the topic for my extended essay. As I further want to pursue sciences, I thought of doing it in Biology. I went through few samples and the research questions seemed quite confusing and complicated (such as cardiac rhythms and patterns). Do our research question have to be that complicated or of a high standard? It would of great help if I get examples of some of the research questions which you have done. I thought of doing it in plant biology. I am thinking to manipulate the medium in which plants grow and see the impact of it on the quality and growth. Is this topic doable? Also, It would of great help if I get examples of some of the research questions/topics which you have worked on. PLEASE give your opinions and let me know whether I am on right track. Thank you so much!!! Edited January 17, 2017 by Skesh123 Reply
6tk
Hi, At my school our teachers recommended us NOT to do Extended Essays for Biology/Physics/Chemistry as the papers are graded by university professors. Furthermore, it is graded strictly. A person at our school, who received a 7 in HL Biology and received 40 pts overall got a C for his EE. He measured the glucose levels after starch consumption, measuring the time periods and the effects. However if you like Biology and you are confident enough, go ahead. Make sure your question is not vague! 1 Reply
