I have to chose my topic for my history IA (Regional
/Asian History), but I'm sill at a loss for one. I'm
trying to find a topic which encompasses the Samurai,
but I can't quite find the right question for my paper.
Can anyone help me with at least narrowing my topic so
I can get a decent question?

Hmm maybe relevance of the samurai as a figure/symbol/something in Western or country-specific culture today?
Why samurai? What interests you? Do you have a favorite cartoon/comic involving samurais? Do you think the code/philosophy is incredible? We might be able to help you this way.
Often, getting the question is really hard. I changed my topic a lot and my actual question was not due to careful deliberation. It was kind of by chance. The more you research, the more you'll probably be exposed to different areas you weren't thinking about. It's okay for you to follow one of these areas. You might have something vague in mind in the beginning and run across an aspect that's connected but very different. Look into it. This is the time consuming part. What research have you done so far? What appeals to you?

I'm just starting my History IA and was thinking about doing samurai as well. Did you stick with it? If so, could you help me choose a more specific topic?
