soadquake981
What sections/options did you do? I did G (ecology) and H (further human physiology). I have to say, that was one of the easiest papers I've ever done. A nice surprise! Reply
sweetnsimple786
I did G & H as well! On G, when it asked to figure out how long before the arsenic was fully absorbed, I spent the longest time trying to answer it. I tried to graph it and run an exponential regression. After doing that mess, my answer was 4. 4 weeks?! That made no sense. And then I reread it and wanted to smack myself. I ended up saying the mean was 25.9/20 and used that to find the time. I got like 77 weeks. Is that what you got? Also on G, with the food web, did you notice something odd about the praying mantis? The food web showed the toad and other things ate the praying mantis... that perplexed me. The toad was a tertiary consumer, right? On H, they asked for so little! Like there was so much information to study, and they only asked very little. Thank goodness! SA node was pretty easy, but what'd you go into? There wasn't that much to say, right? Pacemaker, electrical impulses, contraction of muscle, myogenic, AV node, adrenaline... For the gastric and pancreatic juices, what'd you say? Overall, I thought it was very nice. soadquake981
Yup, I put 77 weeks as well, and I also spent a good 5-7 minutes trying to run a regression calculation on my calculator before I realized what the question was asking, haha I also put tertiary consumer, but I didn't notice anything odd about the food web. For gastric juice, I said highly acidic, contains pepsin, and is secreted into the stomach. For pancreatic juice, I said slightly basic, contains lipase/amylase/trypsin, and is secreted into the small intestine. Reply
ABC123456
I thought this paper was much easier than what I was expecting. Anyone do D and E, Evolution and Neurobiology and Behavior? Reply
102jon
i did E and H. found both pretty easy. loved the brain death question for E, and the SA node question for H. talked about pupil reflex, medulla oblongata, etc for E, and pacemaker, impulses, nodes, parasympathetic/sympathetic, contraction, etc. nice. Abrahamk
E and G. I felt they were extremely easy; studied the day of from the IB review booklet and it helped a ton. Hoping paper 3 will pull my awful paper 1.I did G & H as well! On G, when it asked to figure out how long before the arsenic was fully absorbed, I spent the longest time trying to answer it. G - I got 77.22 weeks. As for the toad, I thought it was in trophic level 4 because grass was 1 and I counted 3 up. Not sure. Reply
soadquake981
Trophic levels don't usually go by just a number -- the grass would be the primary producer, and then all animals after that would be consumers. Reply

Like, grass was 1, grasshopper was 2, something was 3, and then the frog was 4.In any case, I did options D and G. Honestly, it was easiest paper I've ever written. I read fully 25 pages in the course companion the night before the exam and felt very confident about everything on the exam. I'm hoping I did well. sweetnsimple786
Ah. We do count, but we don't exactly count like that. The producer doesn't get a number. Then what eats the producer is the primary consumer. What eats the primary consumer is the secondary consumer, and so on. So if you started with grass as 1, then I got to the 4th thing--I just called it a tertiary consumer. I just want to know what I got now. & I'm glad everyone feels pretty good about it! Two years of bio --> Good turn out, hopefully =) 1 Reply

It was the 4th trophic level, or tertiary consumer. Either should be an acceptable answer. 1 Reply

I could not finish it and felt I did terrible!I got a 5 at the end and had predicted 7!Don't worry, I have reason to believe you are one of the brightest and toughest young figures in your classroom.
