TOK in a nutshell - Everything about TOK

May 11, 2012 - 16:00

So there was a TOK workshop a while back i my school. the guy has been teaching TOK for a VERY long time. He pretty much summarizes TOK, the essay, the presentation and it overall significance.

Sorry for the low volume. :P

My TOK presentation - Censorship

Mar 05, 2012 - 18:19

Right, then. My TOK presentation is on Internet censorship.

Now my main K.I. is "How do we know if the censorship of certain information is justified?"

I go on to talk about the definition of censorship then the rationale for censorship (using WOK's perception and emotion). I then divide into 2 perspectives of censorship (using examples of Great wall of China vs US). I then go onto talk about the problem of WOK's like Language in terms of censorship (for eg: Mars Explorer : marsexplorer.com). And ending with the effects of internet censorship on our ability to perceive and reason.

Anyhow, Are there any suggestions , comments anyone can offer me? And does my main KI sound weak?

50 Excellent TOK essays.

Dec 14, 2011 - 10:20

Hi,

So I recently noticed that 50 Excellent TOK essay's site is no longer up. I guess the school that was hosting it decided to take it down.

Anyway, I ran a site rip last year on that website and I still have all the Essays that were hosted there.

So...is it OK to upload them on this website? Or I can upload them elsewhere and post the link here?

There is a " © International Baccalaureate Organization 2010"  at footer of those documents.

Refine WL 1 title

Dec 08, 2011 - 16:56

Hi,

So I think I need to refine my WL 1 title a bit, cause its sounding a bit awry.

My WL is about the way the protagonists of Madame Bovary and The Outsider perceive life. Now so far I've written about what both of them expect out of life and how they've come to that conclusion. I've written about how society plays a role in shaping the way they think and about their attitude toward religion and god.

Leading to the fact that their deaths had something to do with the way they saw the whole concept of life.

So can anyone help me with the title?

I could write something like "To what extent does perception of life by the protagonists in Madame Bovary and Outsider differ?"

or something like "A comparison of the protagonists’ attitude towards life in Madame Bovary and The Outsider."

IBS compatability with mobile devices

Oct 10, 2011 - 13:50

I've noticed that IBS has some browser compatibility issues with a LOT of mobile devices. So here are the following solutions:

Android (Sony Xperia, Google Nexus, HTC phones, Samsung phones):

If your stock browser IS not being able to view the IBS forum properly, use the Dolphin Browser found at the market at
https://market.andro...ek.TunnyBrowser

Or Firefox for mobile.(Doesn't work on some low-end devices)
http://www.mozilla.o...obile/download/

IOS (Iphones/ Itouches):

Use the Skyfire browser and switch the User agent to "Desktop". You can get Skyfire at http://itunes.apple....d384941497?mt=8

Symbian OS (Nokia phones):

The mobile version of IBS works OK. But the full version of the site is a little buggy. I don't own a Nokia so I can't really do much R&D into it.

Windows Phones:

Works Smoothly. The in built Internet Explorer is pretty smooth.
