My group and I already finished collecting the data for our IA, but our teacher pointed out a major problem in our data collection. We conducted a different test for each sampling site. We did air quality testing outside, and two pedestrian-counting tests on the inside of a shopping mall. However, she wants us to justify how the data collected from inside the shopping mall can relate to the data collected outside. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

What advice would you give to someone going into an ITGS exam in 2 months who is pretty unclear on what is to be done in the exam and whatnot? I'm completely clueless about the case study (paper 3), like what kind of questions there will be? Also, what is there to study for ITGS? Like what can be practiced to achieve a 7 (i.e. what must be known?). Will general computer knowledge suffice? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi there, I'm about to start writing my internal assessment essay for philosophy sl and I'm having doubts as to how I should "compose" it properly. My topic is about philosophy of space and time and different approaches to those concepts in physics and philosophy (if you'd like to see the stimulus material, here it is: http://www.cartoonis...d.php?iid=54016). First I'd like to make some references to the stimulus material and also start a discussion about how seemingly naive questions become an object of serious research, first by philosophers and then by scientists. I would also want to highlight how the discoveries in science provide arguments or counter-arguments fo…

I have completed comprehensive, 30+ page long note packages which follow every syllabus point for both Topic 6: Oceans and their Coastal Environments and the entire HL extension. I am looking to trade these notes for - Notes on the entire core, complete with case studies - Notes on the Rivers option Anyone interested? I am an anticipated 6 in Geography HL - these are very comprehensive notes, complete with diagrams when needed. I expect your notes to be the same. My sources are class activities, Planet Geography 5th Edition and the Geography Study Guide by by Nagle and Cooke - I have usually picked out case studies from these and supplemented them with my own research. …

I need a philosopher whose position is antipodal to that of Mill's in terms of civil liberties. Mill stood for individual liberty. In essence, Mill argued that the state had no right to restrict one's freedom UNLESS the individual's actions threatened to harm others. If you want to drink 5 gallons of beer a day, go ahead - just don't step foot in a car. If you want to smoke 20 packs a day, go ahead - just don't smoke near anybody else. Is there a philosopher who argued that the state has every right to intervene if the individual threatens to harm himself? Thanks!

Hi, I'm taking IB SL World Politics and International Relations (school based syllabus) and I'm looking for world politics IA exemplars. My teacher hasn't helped us that much with regards to IAs and I'm not sure where to start, or what their requirements are. Also, I'm not even sure how long they're meant to be, can somebody please tell me what the word limit is? I'm not sure what the grading criteria is, either. Please help.

Gracias.

Hi. This is my first post, though I have been lurking for some time now. So, let's get down to business. How long did you work on your C.Sci dossier? So, specifically, how many deadlines/drafts did you have and how much time did it take you to finish the whole thing? Is it normal to have 20 days to work on the dossier (along with other deadlines, in the same period) just a week after you have finished enough lessons (let's say...10 subjects on the mastery rating checklist out of...19, was it?) to achieve a mastery rating of 1.0? Our coordinator seems to believe it can be finished in 20 days, with 10 days between the first and the final drafts. I'm not sure this is reasona…

Hello, I'm not asking anyone to check my essay but i'm wondering; what makes a good philosophy essay? If it's different between SL and HL please show the difference as i do higher. I did an essay (it was one of those where you have to evaluate a statement ''blah blah blah' Evaluate this claim'' those ones) and my teacher didn't give me that much feed back apart from make your conclusion stronger. Hi! I'd really appreciate if you could help me out with this question: Discuss one reliability concern for patients undergoing robotic surgery. Our teacher said it must offer a considered and balanced rewiev that includes a range of arguments, factors or hypotheses. Opinions or conclusions should be presented clearly and supported by appropriate evidence. Honestly, I have no idea about this. Any help would be great! Thanks

Ok, I'm taking philosophy HL and now it's time to do a philosphical analysis of a non philosophical material (i.e. a real life content). I have decided to pick a scene from a movie (I think it's Mark twain's or so, I don't really know it. Anyways, I post the link here. I found it scary, but philosophical, I mean it's not scary for being gory or something like that, it really makes sense. I need to write a 5 pages essay abut it and provide philosophical background. I have read little on the specific topic, the closest to it could be Sartre or other kinds of existencialism. But it's not so specific. Do you know which book I could read so I can ground it better ? thanks.

This is probably the most inane question on the forums so far, but I'm considering doing my EE on something that fits into Media Studies perfectly, but my supervisor is unsure as to whether or not Media Studies is an actual IB topic. If anyone could enlighten me to this, it would be amazing. My supervisor did teach Media Studies at A level in Britain, but it is not offered at my school.

I'm trying to come up with a topic for the geography IA. My rough idea now is that there's a music festival (Bayfest) coming to town soon, and I want to do some study about how the festival will affect tourism. But I can't think of anything specific enough to make it a real topic. Any ideas on how to make this idea work?

Hello everyone. I´m really doubtful about the ITGS project which I must work out throughout this summmer vacations. I have three main doubts about the project. Any help would be appreciated. 1.- Could you give examples of "social problems"? I dont really what they define as social problems. 2.-How useful would it be to learn basic programming for the project? I found two excellent e books that teach you the basics on the programing language "Python". 3.- What is your recommendation: Hand-written or digital log-book? Thank you, any answer will be appreciated.

Hi I got 26/30 on my IA for geography, which is a 7. I made a very stupid mistake on my essay question on paper 1 yesterday that will probably cost me about 11 points, plus losing a couple more points here and there for various reasons. I've estimated about 42/60 on paper 1. I did very well on paper 2 this morning because I studied really hard, and I think I could get around 34/40 on paper 2. Both of those exam estimates are low estimates, just in case. It's possible the things I thought I got wrong were actually right. But I know that I lost AT LEAST 11 points on P1. Is a 7 in IB geo SL still even a possibility for me, or will my mistake on paper 1 cost me and bring m…

There is no thread in this forum for Geography! And personally I think it is one of the most interesting subjects in the IB course. Although I don't always get the marks I deserve for this subject, I think I learn the most from it. As you all know, case studies are really important in Geo, and I think it would be good if we share some. Let me start of with some Population Pronatalist - Singapore Antinatalist - China, Ethiopia Arid Environments Management - Grand Canyon Land use - UAE Reversal of Desertification - Tunisia Please add more!

Hi, Some IB geography exam questions say "referring to specific examples" or "using one named country", etc... if the essay question (the 15 point question in section B of Paper 1) does not specifically ask for a case study / example / country, do we need to put one? What if we answer the question really really well, considering both sides of the argument and going really in depth, but we forget to throw in a case study? Are we completely screwed or can we still score well? Thanks

I just did the paper 1 and told my teacher of the changes, my paper 2 is tomorrow and supposedly i must answer a question of two of my themes rather than 1. i prepared to choose between lithospherics or coasts and my second question going to be about topographical mapping. is it the same way this year or is it different cause i dont know.

Well I don't know if this is a common problem with ITGS students but I guess students do get the feeling that this is somewhat a very vague subject I am writing in two days and have absolutely no clue what I should study. Anyone have any recommendations on particular parts to focus on? I really don't think I can remember every single thing from the Computer Confluence text book, it is just ... a bit too much for me Your help will be very much appreciated

Hey guys, I was wondering what the boundary cut-off's were for ITGS SL/HL, I'm in SL atm. I was curious because, the cut-off for 2006, yes that was 5 years ago was ITGS SL May 2006, Overall Boundaries 7: 69-100 6: 57-68 5: 45-56 4: 33-44 3: 22-32 2: 11-21 1: 0-10 And I mean, I did a practice ITGS exam from school, and I scored 80'ish. If I score like what I scored on my practice exam, will i get a 7??? Thanks ^^ - LightUPSB (from Ontario, Canada)

Hi, Does anyone have any ideas for a geography (sl) fieldwork internal assessment? I can't think of any that are actually DIRECTLY related to the core or optional themes. I know that the examiners like to see maps and the data should be local but ay idea I have come up with so far does not really need a map and it would be completely pointless to have one in there. I had an idea to record snow levels in different areas or at different altitudes but I do not know what the point or the research quesion would be. Another idea was to do a survey on weed problems in my neighborhood. The IA is due in March. I would really appreciate any suggestions you could give me. Thanks.

Hello, fellow philosophy students. It's quite hard to find any IB philosophy revision material, so I thought we could play a game to revise for our exam. Each person could post a question about the core theme and answer the question (in bulletpoints) that was written by the previous user. Ok, I hope this works. Is it possible to know other people?

Does anyone have an IB Textiles in their school? If so, what is it like and how intensive is it? I've been sewing for years, so I was thinking of asking my coordinator if he could register me for IB sewing, but I could do the course myself by following its syllabus. I could use the school's sewing machines during my spare block or simply use my Singer at home, and ask the Home Ec Sewing teacher if I needed any help. Do you think IB Textiles is too intensive and challenging for someone to do on their own? Do you have to be able to draft patterns from scratch? How many projects must you complete and submit for evaluation?
