Well, I just gotta say I have a really bad ITGS teacher, she doesn't teach us anything! I don't have anything in my ITGS notebook and I really don't want to fail on my exams... But I just don't know what to study nor what to do about all this situation, I had talked with all the authorities on my highschool but they don't give a s**t for it... so I have to study on my own... The problem is that I don't know from where should I study... The ITGS Book isn't avaliable on my country, so you may understand how hard is my situation... Please, somebody help me! Hi all, I start IB in September and am taking HL computer science. So the syllabus has just changed (First examinations 2016) and there is no IB recommended textbook at all. My teacher is working on a sort of guide that covers the new syllabus, but I think it would be very useful having a textbook as well. Can anyone recommend a text book? Also I've been trying to learn a bit of Java to prepare for the course, and can't find a decent IDE. I have some experience with other programming languages and Java's syntax is throwing me off. Thanks in advance.

I have to do a presentation on the Great Gatsby. It will a comparison between the movie and the book over a certain technique; in my case, it will be the parallel of Gatsby and Daisy (as a couple) and Tom and Myrtle (as a couple). I've been thinking about this and attempting to wrap my head around it and it's a bit difficult. Could I focus on one specific aspect that is similar or different between the two couples then compare how the book handles it and how the movie handles it? Any other ideas? Thanks!

I've been reading Hume's Treatise of Human Nature as research for my EE. I'd basically like to discuss the Is-Ought problem and its implications. For the sake of relevance, I thought it might be interesting to contrast Is-Ought to Harris's objective morality. However, I'm well aware that The Moral Landscape is popular philosophy and is somewhat dumbed down for people who haven't read much philosophy. If I discussed Harris' objective morality along with Is-Ought would my EE lose credibility? Are their any other ethical systems that would be interesting when compared to Is-Ought? It seems that a large amount of secular systems are founded on something closely resembling mo…

Hey guys! We have a new syllabus (as I'm sure all of you know ) for 2014 and I was wondering whether we could all band together and think of a few possible questions they may pose us! If we manage to think of a lot (especially for question 4) we would be much better prepared for this paper, which in my opinion is kinda hard to prepare for. Here's how they structured the specimen paper: 1. Defining terms 2. Applying the knowledge from the case study 3. Extending that knowledge a bit more 4. An essay using knowledge that you researched; for this one you have to have researched and done much more than just reading the case study and learning the terms, if you just did that y…

Hey guys! I am wondering, because in instruction to each paper on geography there is note "Use case studies, examples, maps and/or diagrams where relevant" case studies and examples are obvious but have you ever drawn something? Any map or diagrams? Is it essential to achieve maximum score? And by the way, what is the difference, if any, between essays in paper 1, 2 and 3? I look forward to hearing from you, best wishes, Klaudia

I'm not sure if this topic is allowed, but since the Case Studies have been out for a year now, I think it should be fitting right in. The Case Study mentions that they should be first hand interview accounts etc, and discussions, so I think it would now be an appropriate time to discuss this. This years case study for ITGS Relates to the Cobb Publishing House. which is facing the dilemma of their clientele wanting a shift from print based media to digital media. There are a lot of privacy and security issues involved and the costs involved + the increased market competition in the digital space means that they might not be able to recover their entire investment. Plus t…

Is there any good book for this subject? What kind of materials do you guys use to study for the exam? Sometimes when I look at the syllabus and go on the internet there seems to be too many things to memorize. Does anyone have a specific website that contains all the information needed for us to know for the IB exam?

Hi guys I am really struggling with my Geography revision. The problem is that the learning matter is easy and deductive to a certain extend, but it is just a massive lot of information! I won't be able to learn all of that by heart. I also can't shorten my notes it as I can't be sure which topic will be on the 15 point essay at the end of paper one. Can someone help me please? Thanks!

I noticed in my sample IB Philosophy Paper 1 and 2 that there is not a word limit. This is worrying. I don't know how much I'm supposed to write. In some questions it says "approximately 800 words" and in some questions it doesn't say anything. It just says, answer two questions or answer only one question. But these questions are complex. They are worth like 20-30 points and there is quite a lot of time to develop a response. Yet, I do not know how much I'm supposed to write! The exams are in a few weeks. Please help me! Thank you

For Philosophy IA I need to find non-philosophical stimulus. I just watched the movie Her, and I thought about using it with a question regarding artificial intelligence. Do you think it's a good idea or will it be done by too many candidates this year for it to be considered an original topic. I need help as soon as possible. Also, how can I approach it? Any tips or thoughts? Thanks again

My TOK teacher assigned us an assignment where we have to find 5 Extended Essay papers specific to the subject our EE will be on. (Mine is Literature) These EE's MUST have the written grading sheet included with the EE. I have 3 Extended Essays already but I'm having trouble finding two more because everywhere I look I find the same three essays and I was wondering if anyone can help me find websites where there are EE's that have the grading sheet with them; specifically literature. I'm using an Excel datasheet as my ITGS Internal Assestment. Under the Advanced techniques necessary is the "=DATE" function, and I was wondering, if I just use it and imput the date directly, does it still count as an Advanced Technique? and, if I use the already built-in Form button, does it count as an Advanced Technique too?

Hi there, I was just curious to those who have done both, what are the major differences between a Geo IA and EE and what should I refrain from doing in my IA compared to a Geo EE? (Or is the IA simply a mini version of the EE?) Thanks

Hi! I was just wondering how the hypothesis of the geography IA is supposed to be like. Is it supposed to be one or two sentences in "if-then-because" format like the sciences? Are we supposed to find peer-reviewed sources for justification? Or is it just a paragraph of educated guesses on what will happen? Just in case, here is my final topic: "How effective is the public bus transport system of X?" Thanks!

Hey, so I'm super confused about my subject combination. I really want to do Visual Arts - but I am not sure about the workload, and whether I will fare well; mainly because art can be so subjective and you can never judge how well you can do whereas with BM, you can work and well - eventually get there. Also - I am not sure about the credits etc. If anyone can help?

The IB Guide for the ITGS IA states "It should be noted that products created using templates that show no evidence of modification in their structure, design or functionality are not permitted." and "the development of a website (product) using a web-based template that completely determines its structure and layout." Are students allowed to use tutorials such as http://tympanus.net/...th-transitions/ in their ITGS webpage? Does this mean I cannot use any of the exemplars in the website above?

Hey you guys ~ At my school, ITGS is considered an easy course so I decided to take it and lower the possible workload I would have. However, the school wasn't able to offer it this year so instead, I took the course online (it's a 2 year program) so right now I'm taking ITGS HL online on this Pamoja site where I'm in a class with students all over the world. Even though it was outline, I assumed it would still be easy but right now I am legitimately failing. I do all the discussions and assignments we have each week and I do well on them but on the practice papers (which are huge parts of our mark right now), I am receiving 20%~30%... I haven't received anything above th…

Hi! So my topic is "What age groups utilise public transport more often in Oakville, Ontario?" I've checked the Geography curriculum, but I'm not sure what part of the syllabus it fits in. Could someone with some information on the Geo syllabus or who has covered the topics guide me in the right direction? So far, I think this might relate to urban stress, because if I find which age groups use public transport less, facilities for these specific age groups can be suggested, increasing ridership and thus reducing the stress of pollution from multiple cars, etc. However, I feel like this connection seems too complicated. Would this be fine, or is there another chapter whi…
