hi, I'm a fellow ''IBBER'' and I had a question. So I wanted to do my presentation on WikiLeaks. In general how does the format of the presentation look like, so next to the knowledge question (if someone could help me formulate one, would be great because I still don't understand them), and the real life example of Wikileaks and ways and areas of knowing , how do we set up our presentation? Do we introduce the topic? then say a couple sentences of the question and then go to the areas and ways? Our teacher never really told us to do them and how they should look like. I am shooting for a 7-8 score wise...

Hey people, I have this reflective statement from TOK due Tuesday. We have to write about a speech that we watched in class. I really don't know how to construct a reflective statement for TOK. What do I need to include? Do I need to provide my opinion on the topic of the speech, or do I need to write about the AOK's and WOK's that are present in the speech? I'm really confused.

I have the following idea for the TOK presentation: "How do we know if art is expensive" which I haven't really phrased properly, but basically, how do we price art considering such factors as the artist's reputation, whether or not that artist is dead, generally how we place value on art, ways of knowing, etc. etc... (Specifically visual arts, by the way...) Would anyone have any ideas on how to phrase this in a more TOK-friendly way, ideas on whether or not my teacher would be amused by this, and additional ways I could tackle it? Thanks very much in advance

My Knowledge Question is To what extent are we morally obligating to follow others ethical theories?" do you think this question works? Why or Why not. How can I improve it? My RLS are Trump and how he has his own ethical theory and maybe we should accept him. My other RLS is how a shooter believe what he does is justified and ethical.

Hi everyone, Our TOK teacher has given us a practise essay (1,100 words) on the topic "Who am I?" Would you answer the question "Who am I?" in response to your personal life, or would you analyse the question and try to find a common "I"/ define or describe your perception of "I" ? Your feedback would be of tremendous value. Thanks.

2017 IB'ers, Was I the only one that stood 5 minutes looking at the new TOK prescribed titles and felt as empty as a waffles chips pack? Seriously, am I the only one that, comparing with the previous year's titles, thinks these ones are even more vague and intricate? Teachers usually say: look at them all, chop off 3 right away, consider 2 and keep one as the back up plan. Honestly, I did not look at any that would inspire me to write 1.600 words. 5 and 6 are, lets say, the ones that I would see myself doing, though all of the others belong to the "right away chop off" category, which is kinda bad... Has the same happened with you? Which do you find the hardest…

Hey guys My TOK presentation is coming up in a few days, and I've got my knowledge question, RLS and all of my arguments in order. I just had a question about the structure of the actual presentation. Is it ok if I start off with my perspectives on the issue (after describing the RLS and KQ)? I just feel that this would be a better way to introduce the arguments I have. Thanks in advance!

Framing Knowledge questions

Looking at the titles for next year themselves are making me really glad that i don't have to write on any of those. I feel like they're harder than the previous ones. But anyway, I've been having difficulties wrapping my head around knowledge questions. Taking any of the prescribed titles for May 2017, what knowledge questions cam be formed? I think the most doable ones are 2,5 and 6. And how do you even formulate kq's?

Hey, so I've recently developed my central KQ as "To what extent does the interaction between Shared Knowledge on Personal Knowledge influence the process of artistic creation?". However I'm having a bit of trouble formulating arguments, currently I have been researching the ways in which people come up with creative ideas (Howard Gardner, Gerd Gigeerenzer) but I'm not sure how I can come up with knowledge claims that are still within the topic of TOK and are still relevant to my central KQ. If you guys could shoot some ideas that would be great thanks!!

Hello and good day everyone! This is my first time using this forum I really hope I can get some enlightenment here So for my TOK presentation, my team and I had decided on a KQ which is 'How far does empirical evidence leads to conflicting belief?" We currently had managed to made up til the second argument/sub-kq. However, we stuck at the third one cuz we seems cant find any other element to relate with our KQ. As we're focusing on empirical evidence, therefore, our thoughts are mainly related to Human Science and Natural Science. Therefore, i would like to ask for suggestions on how empirical evidence can a play role in other AOK and how can we relate it…

TOK presentation doubt

Hi, I have to chose my TOK presentation topic and I was thinking about doing it about Human Capital, mostly focused on the whole process of calculating someone's productive capacity and using it to calculate the sum to be paid as indemnization once someone dies. I could relate the topic to almost all ways of knowledge and a few areas of knowledge, but I started to read more about the topic (most of what I knew was based on a movie named human capital) and I think perhaps it's too complicated. Basicly, I want to have somenes opinion about the topic, and before I keep on working to know if it would be better if I changed the topic.

Hey guys, I would really appreciate it if I could get some feedback on whether me and my partner are doing our tok presentation properly, since we have been struggling lately, and external sources haven't been much help. RLS is : a 2013 united nations human rights council discussion on lethal autonomous robots. KQ is : Under what circumstances should technology be aloud to make decisions? Our first perspective is a theory that defines emotion, our second perspective is a philosopher's definition of intuition, and our third perspective is a psychologist's definition of reason. For each of our perspective, we're planning on analyzing the statements (stre…

I have came up with multiple real life situations but have been struggling to come up with and effective knowledge question. I honestly have no clue what my knowledge question should be, it shouldn't include ethics and my TOK teacher would like it to be a to what extent question. So in ToK we are doing our first presentation. It's not for an IB grade, just like a practice so we know what we're doing (it's going in the grade book). She gave us vague guidelines and the general topic of trash and we have to pick a subtopic relating to trash for our presentation. My partner isn't any help and I have no idea what we are doing. Our real life situation is space trash, our knowledge question is "What are the benefits and limitations of space debris tracking, how can it be improved, and what does that tell us about how we know?", and our knowledge claim is "‘The greatest risk to space missions comes from non-trackable debris,’ said Nicholas Johnson, NASA c…

I am about to finish up on my TOK presentation. Now, we are working on the TOK presentation planning form. The form has a 500 word limit, which it extremelyyyyy difficult to cut down to. I had to remove one RLS (it was not a very strong on anyways). However, is it alright if I am basing it on just 2 RLS? I can't fit it in anything all! A lot of other outlines on the internet seem to have 3 RLS. I am hoping to move up to a 9 or 10 out of 10 for the presentation but am unsure whether if I should have at least 3 RLS. Thanks in advance for your reply, I really do appreciate it!!!

I have been working on trying to come up with a good knowledge question for my upcoming TOK presentation. My Real-life situation is British music publishing companies trying to force google not to show websites that give away their music for free. The knowledge question I have come up with for this is as follows: To what extent can reason and ethics be used to limit the spread of knowledge? Is this a decent question and if not what can I do to improve it? Thanks in advance

My question is: To what extent can love be explained by science? Is this an OK ToK real life situation? The time when I was small, I saw my parents holding each other tight within each other’s embrace. Upon further inspection, I asked them what love was. Their answer was similar to what a person thinking that they were in love would say, “You just know when the time comes.” With the combination of flawed inductive reasoning to this, many things had hindered my knowledge of truth to the definition of what love is. If not, what are the guidelines for it?

So I have an essay due May 10th. (Originally May 4th, extensions are IB kids' best friends lol) The topic is as mentioned above. I wanna focus on 4 points (2 strengths and 2 weaknesses) For strengths, I have deductive and inductive logic provides evidence-based knowledge. For weaknesses, I have the rigidity of deductive to be used in ethical knowledge claims and the problematic nature of inductive logic as it encourages fast generalizations. I need help Thanks fellas
