Without application in the world, the value of knowledge is greatly diminished.†Consider this claim with respect to two areas of knowledge? Need some advice on expanding these topics. These are my ideas that I'll be focusing on. Idea 1: Math, Imagination Sample: Imagination with mathematics may seem irrelevant to each other but it does connects each other. For example, the golden ratio is represented as Phi = 1.618 and it is often known when taking the ratios of distances in simple geometric figures (pentagon, decagon, etc.). The golden ratio contributes in many aspects of the world. One of them would be that the golden ration contributes in Art, architecture an…

Hey. The TOK presentation is coming up soon and we have been asked to identify the real life situation we want to talk about and also our knowledge question. I was thinking of 2014 Peshawar Massacre (You can quickly read it it as to what happened). I am not sure if I am going in right direction, as I have no idea how to relate to TOK. It would be great help if someone could tell me weather this is right or not and if its right, what kind of knowledge question can I have? ThankYouu so much

Hi guys! I was wondering if for the TOK Presentation, we need to present the main knowledge question first followed by the two secondary knowledge questions, or if we're able to discuss the main knowledge question after the two secondary ones? The questions that my partner and I have formulated work out in a way that it would be better for the the main knowledge question to go last Thanks!!

Hello, Does anyone know what the grade boundaries for the new TOK course are? Our presentation and essay are both out of 10 and have a 30-70 weighting respectively. Is the TOK and EE matrix the same as that for previous years where an AA or AB is needed for 3 bonus points? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I've been working on my TOK essay. I'm doing PT #5: To what extent do the concepts that we use shape the conclusions that we reach? I'm trying to define "concept" and it's doing my head in. There are no TOK definitions of "concept" in any of the TOK books and guides I own and there is nothing online that suggests what TOK defines as "concept". What do you think the definition of "concept" is?

Hello, I would be very happy if someone could help me out with something for my last TOK presentation So the knowledge question I am working on at the moment is: "When we are telling lies, we are sometimes also telling the truth. To what extent is this true?" I have many examples for when we tell lies and really lie - when there is not truth behind it. But I am having some trouble coming up with examples for when we lie - and at the same time, tell a "hidden truth" through the lie?? I though I made an easy task for myself, but apparently I did not.. Any suggestions?

Hi I've thought of a topic for my TOK presentation, but I don't know if it's good enough. Can you go through it and comment your views? I'd really appreciate different perspectives on this! My RLS is pluto no longer being considered a planet and my KQ will be "To what extent is evidence important in order to make a knowledge claim?". To further develop it, my sub question is "To what extent is evidence important in order to justify knowledge in natural science?" although I'm not very sure about this. What do you think?

Hi! I don't really understand how to formulate a proper knowledge question for my presentation ¿Could someone help please? My real life situation is silent music, particularly "The ballad of Richard Nixon" by John Denver, which is a "song" that is mere silence for ten seconds. The purpose of the song was to establish Denver's opinion towards Richard Nixon: "no comments". Thus, the song is considered art by some. I know that language is listed as a WoK, and I can see why it is -- we use it to acquire knowledge. But a language is knowledge in itself, so shouldn't languages be included in some AoK too? and while we're at it, in which AoK does Literature belong? (I would say art, right? but what about non-fiction/essays/biographies/etc ? is this still in art?) I want to hear your thoughts on this, as it's been puzzling me for a while. Thanks to anyone who can help clarify my doubts.

Hi, I'm writing my TOK presentation and essay right now. I'm wondering how many knowledge questions I need to address in my both the presentation and essay. Hello I'm just now starting my TOK essay and I had a look at the essay grading criteria. Here is the assessment criteria so that you don't have to google it: I noticed that the IB has made a clear difference between a level 5/4 essay and a level 3 essay in respect to the examples that are used in the analysis of knowledge questions. A good essay uses "real life examples" whereas a poor one uses "examples". I'm very confused about what the IB is trying to get at here. Does it just mean that I should not make up my own theoretical examples like "imagine that you were a member of Pluto's congress and you just heard that your long time ally, Earth, does not consider Pl…

Remember how I detailed this during class time. Linked to the arguments would be examples of quotes etc. You are not to write the presentation in full but make an outline\notes to say how you would do it. Try to use TOK language and inc…

Hey Everyone! I just have a simple question (hopefully)... What are the grade boundaries for TOK for the new syllabus? Both for the presentation and for the essay? Heyy, My TOK presentation is about how Video games influence players to repeat violent acts in the games in real life. My KQ is 'To what extent can modern media negatively influence human behaviour?' but the overall TOK teacher said "She would have to make sure the presentation was about how we choose what to believe. But I am not sure how closely the RLS is related to that, unless the video game counts as 'media'?? I want to do my TOK presentation on the butterfly effect but I'm not sure if it's good enough for IB. The butterfly effect is pretty much the whole reason why we know the things we know and so I could definitely fit in all of the ways of knowing and some areas of knowledge into my presentation.
