Hello everyone, I was planning on going to Uni in Germany, and in order to do that, IB students have to go to a "Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle" to get their Diploma accepted. My own diploma is not getting accepted because I took an online course (economics SL), and my sister's diploma is not getting accepted because she is taking self-taught German A, as they don't offer German A at our school. This is frustrating, and T just want to make everyone aware that you cannot study in Germany if you take a self-taught course or an online course

We have a thread for law and medicine, but we don't really have a thread for people who want to study engineering in university. In order to keep the majority of the posts about engineering mostly in the same place so that people can find them more easily, I've created this thread to help people out. I'm a second year student in chemical engineering and can help with pretty much any kind of general engineering questions you might have, whether it's what courses to take in the IB, general procedures for applying to universities for engineering, or what to expect in an engineering program once you're there. If you have a school-specific question, such as applying to MIT or …

Hello to all future Law students, I've been on the forum for a while and I've seen that there are quite a few of you who plan on studying/want to study Law at University. I'm currently a second-year Law student at LSE in the UK and I like to think I have a pretty good idea of what studying Law is about at University and a career beyond. I figured I'd start a thread where all of us can come together and talk about Law, what it actually means to study it, what it's about, what you can expect beyond a vague idea of it being challenging, and such. I'm not saying that I will have all the answers, but I will endeavour to answer as many questions as I can. I'm sure there must be…

Finland Why on earth would I apply to Finland? The reason, in a nutshell, is that higher education is completely free of charge to everyone - no matter whether you're Finnish, Dutch or South African. How to apply to, and choose, a university The number of English language undergraduate courses is limited, so you won't have too much choice. All universities offer MSc/MA courses in English, but since this site is concentrated on students who are moving from high school to university, I'll concentrate on that. Basically the only university offering undergraduate courses in English is the Helsinki School of Economics (Aalto University from 1.1.2010). HSE is considered the be…

There are a lot of people who, even in their second year of IB, are directionless in terms of university applications. This post will aim to give you an insight into applying to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States. Australia Canada Finland New Zealand Singapore United Kingdom United States Standardised tests English Language tests This is a community project, and if anybody has anything to add please feel free to. The section on Canada is particularly lacking since I don't know a lot about studying there and since we do have a lot of Canadian members (or a Canadian invasion rather), someone could oblige in filling it up? Maybe e…

Good day everyone, Now many people face problems once reaching their senior year. Their whole tiime is occupied by IB work, despite the fact that there are other exams to worry about. Time management is not the major topic here, it's the admission tests. Many have probably heard of the common ones (such as the SATs, BMATs..). Anyway, you will find a list of the most important admission tests in many countries and for different majors. Any additional help is greatly appreciated. I want to study business at the uni but i don't know the needed ib grade for the canadian universities... I was going to apply to the uk unis but my mock exam grades awfully went wrong and prob will get the predicted grades about 33 to 35... (including tok and ee). I was aiming for the top uk unis but because of that i wouldn't be able to apply to them like ucl, kcl, cass, etc... But then i researched canadian unis and most of top unis say you have to get 24 (ubc) or 28 (uoft or somewhere i forgot). I mean, I wonder why the minimum requirement is slightly lower than the uk unis... Can I understand about myself as I still have hope to get into those top canadian unis …

I'm trying to look around for universities and courses therein to look into even though I'm admittedly late to do so. I just cant find a straight place to start, I don't know what I want to study or where, and with my grades my parents are telling me that liberal arts isn't exactly an option for me so I'm a little stumped. Im trying to look around for places i can get into but all i keep getting back is just huge lists of best schools which I cant get into. Are there any useful resources for finding a good university to go to if you really are starting from scratch in terms of knowing what you want?

Hello, I am a 19 year old South Korean who graduated this year from an international IB school in Brandenburg, Germany. I want to study medicine in Germany and plan to apply next cycle after pulling my German up to a C1+. I graduated with 43 IB points which are converted to a 1.0 in the Abitur system and was told by some friends I may be able to apply for the Abibesten quota (30%) through hochschulestart. However, that is for German citizens. If I am a non EU citizen who lived and graduated from an IB school in Germany with Abitur convertible grades(IB scores), am I considered as a German applicant who can compete for the Abibesten quota or am I considered as an internati…

HI EVERYONE, I am starting my IBDP this summer and am hoping to apply to the LMU Munich in the future. I have read through their official documents and it said that I require a 'Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle für den Freistaat Bayern (ZASt)'. Do any of you know where and how I can get this qualification? Have any of you applied to bavarian universities with the IB Diploma before? Thank you!

Hi guys! I was wondering what top to mid tier universities in IB look at in terms of predicted and final IB exam grades. Do they look at predicted grades more or the final grades? Lets say I'm getting between a 38-41 predicted (With the three points), do the final IB exam scores matter all that much apart from the credits? Also another question I had was, how is the final grade that they get calculated? Is it just the IB exams and the IA's or do the tests we take in school matter as well? THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance!

Hello, I am a current senior attending an international school in Korea. I hold a Taiwanese passport and so does my parents so I am considered as an international student. I really want to be a English - Korean translator so I want to stay in Korea. So as I was researching but none of the Korean universities have minimum IB score requirements so I have no idea if I have a chance to get accepted. The places I want to go are Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul National University, Yonsei, Korea University and Ehwa Woman's University. I currently take HL Lang and Lit, HL Korean A, HL Business and Management and SL Theatre, SL ESS, SL Maths Studies.

Good afternoon, IB folks! It is my first year in DP, and only when the first half-year had ended, I realised that I want to change my specialisation. My HL subjects: Business and Management, English B and Russian A1; SL subjects: History, Maths and ES&S. I picked these subjects as kind of evil of the lesser kind because I had no clue what I wanted to practise in the future. Now I'm determined to become a surgeon. I talked to teachers at school and generally (theoretically!) changing B&M and ES&S to Chemistry HL and Biology HL is not that much of an issue (in comparison with the whole picture). The nastiest problem is where to study. I mostly strive …

On Studielink, I have added both my own phone number as "Telephone number" and my father's phone number (just in case) as "Telephone number 2". However, several universities are including the second phone number as my main one, and I can only change my contact details on Studielink. I have deleting the second phone number from Studielink and also making the "Telephone number 2" field the same as "Telephone number", but nothing has worked. I keep saving the changes, but nothing actually changes. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Planning on going to art school but I have no idea what the sufficient grade for this school is?? Like they don't have a required score out of 45. I mean it does mention IB but just states qualifications equivalent to A Levels (e.g. IB)? Does this mean I just need to pass IB? Like a 24 (12 total in HL, no lv2 and no lv 1in SL) will do? This hasn't been the first art school with vague requirements. Could someone elaborate? Thank you so much
