Hey! I just did my only IB exams for this year, IB psychology papers 1 & 2. How did they go for you? Did you find them easy? What do you think the mark bands will be like? What questions did you answer?

How did you find the exam? Question 4, which was about supply side policies was easy. However, the micro part was a bit confusing. Question 1 (which was about monopoly and legislation/regulation) was pretty hard, especially for a 15 point question. I mean, my book just talks about it in just three paragraphs. Question 2 was decent, with the part a question being just the tax diagrams with PED. However, I rushed in part b and ended up using the negative externality of production instead of the negative externality of consumption .... And my evaluation on the solutions of negative externality of consumption was horrible ... I didn´t had enough time !! Compared to paper 2 an…

I'm in TZ2 My whole class thought the questions were horrible... None of the questions were really ideal for us as we hadn't focused on ANYTHING on the paper :/ I ended up taking Question 10, 11 and 19... 10 Was about Russo-Japanese War and how it affected the Reign under Nicholaos II up until 1914.... My school had mentioned it in order for us to get a clear grip of the February/October Revolutions but we had not gone deeper into the subject etc. No statistics or anything. 11. Was about how the alliance system affected the "European affairs" between 1871-1914. I pretty much talked only about the development of WW1... As we had only been talking about the formation of the…

Hello dear Forum, I currently have my exams and have already completed several of them, some of which have caused me to wonder about the IB Grade boundaries flexibility. However, in order to not break any possible 24 hour rule, I will not mention any specific subject or papers. My question is the following: Since past paper's Grade boundaries of specific subjects do vary, but generally tend to be on a somewhat similar level, could it be possible, in the case of an extremely simple/had exam, that the Grade boundaries turn out to be very different higher/lower from what they generally are? I am obviously aware that in theory this is possible, however I am asking if anyone …

I'm taking my first ever IB exam tomorrow and Friday... Regardless it's Math Studies so I'm not totally worried about a lot of the questions (maybe a few Paper 2 q's) but other than that... any rules of thumb I should know walking in to the exam for the first time?

TZ1 Brother and Sisters Unite! To be honest, I thought aced Paper 1. I do admit they had tricky questions and when reviewing over my answers I caught them, oh IB you suck. I think Paper 1 was my forte so that's why I thought I did so well. For Paper 2, I had a bit of trouble with this one question that talked about intensity... I looked through my text and realized that intensity was in my options. I don't know if that was taught in the core or not, can anyone else confirm? I also chose Question B2 because I thought I would be able to tackle that easily, I was so wrong haha.

I found it pretty okay. The only tough part in section A for me was the first question (part b), I proved the used the theory that the halflife would be equal to prove that the function was an exponential in the form of V=V0e^-kt. For the graph of the kinematics section, it was increasing from 0 to t, constant from t1 to t2 and dropped to 0 at t2. The free body diagram was just a gift. And in section B, I did question B1 on nuclear and thermal which I found to be the easiest amongst all 3. Especially the binding energy question. And for thermal, I used the delta heat lost being equal to (power x time (heat supplied) - mc delta t (heat absorbed by water) ) / time take…

Is it just me or was Paper 1 slightly tricky? What really amazed was that question about the three protons in a triangle (the exact same question) appeared in the November 2011 paper.

I went with first question about "Crisis at Christmas" and honestly, it was better than I had expected. As for the structure of my answer, I used the Big 5: Content and Audience, Theme and Context, Tone and Mood, Stylistic Devices and Structure, and I guess it worked out pretty well. So how did you guys find it?

Hey! I'm taking 3 HL courses this year and had a question. If I get a 3 on one HL exam but my other two exams add up to 9 or greater, can I still get my diploma? I know I need a total of 12 HL points towards my total of 24 but didn't know if 3 is considering passing or failing. What is considered failing, a 2?

Hello IBS. Hoping that you all did well in both Biology exams. Paper 1: I think that in general it was easy, there were some a litte confusing but not too horrible. Paper 2: It was so-so for me, there were some difficult questions. Anyway, I did number 6 in Section B, which was about ecology and genetics. Hope to hear your comments . Lets see how Paper 3 is!

Now that 24 hours have well and truly passed since the exam, we are free to discuss it. How did everyone go? Did you choose the prose or the poem? What did you talk about? Personally, I chose the prose extract from Middlesex. My essay was about how the dominant, opressive environment enforced by the factory within the scene was created through its tone, use of imagery and most importantly - the personification. I think if you missed the personification in this extract, you missed a lot. I'd like to hear what you guys chose and wrote about, it'd be interesting.

How did everyone else find Paper 1 in English A1 SL? Just thought I'd start this to see how other SL students thought of the paper, and what you might have picked up. Not sure about the prose (barely looked at it to be honest) but I thought that the poem was OK (in comparison to previous papers at least), there was plenty to discuss.

If I'm not mistaken, we're now allowed to talk about these exams... did they seem easy to you? In my case, the only problem I couldn't solve was the last one of Paper 1, the one about the area under a curve being equal to ln4. But I had time left to revise things twice in both exams, so I'm quite relaxed about math

Hi guys. I'm doing my IB exams right now. I've done math P1 and P2 already. Can anyone answer me something about FT marks? In the complex numbers question in Part B (P1, it's been way more than 24h), I made a silly mistake about the value of z2 (this was (b) I think) . But this value is used in the rest of the question (19 marks I think , up to (e)). So, even if I lose the two marks for z2, will I get everything else for the rest assuming I did it correctly (using the false value)? Thanks!

Hello IBS. I really hope you all did well in both History papers. For Paper 1, the Arab-Israeli conflict, it seems that the IB followed the chronological order predicted: Camp David. I thought the exam was pretty straighforward: sources were not too confusing and the last question was broad enough to include your own knowledge. Regarding to Paper 2, in my opinion, the question of the Treaty of Versailles was a very interesting option to answer. On the other hand, in what concerns to the Cold War, I chose number 25, which was about Potsdam, Sovietization of Central and Eastern Europe and the Marshall Plan. Seems also that the one about Gorbachev was popular within the kids…

Heyy guys! What did you think of the Geography paper 1 exam? I thought it was pretty decent, although it was harder than 2011! I had to improvise for a couple questions cause i wasn't expecting those parts to be on the exam (ie. the disparities between ethnicities question)

How were the Chemistry exams for you guys? Paper 1 was relatively easy excluding some questions such as the one asking the color of the solution in the universal indicator or the other one asking of the proporties of substances (for example, a metal being dense). Besides that, the exam wasn't too hard. Paper 2 had some confusing questions at the start (i didn't understand when it asked the percentage of iodine and then it practically asked the same result in the following question). The rest of Section A wasn't hard, just some definitions and a bond enthalpy question. Finally, Section B (question 4) was easy compared to question 5 or question 6. I think that the one who d…

I'm a senior in my School's first year in the IB program and I'm wondering what is the percentage of students that get their diploma out of the total class. In my IB class of 2013 we have a total of 32 students that have made it to their senior year .(including myself of course )We originally had around 45 kids our junior year but many kids either dropped it for AP classes due to the CAS , TOK, and EE requirements or were booted out due to low grades. Thanks For taking the time to answer this question.

OK I'll start this topic now it's been 24 hours (well way more for me). How did everyone find the papers? I thought Paper 1 was of a similar standard to previous years I guess, a few annoying questions in there but nothing too crazy. Paper 2 questions were also pretty good, as the Section B questions were quite varied. I'll wait until other people post until I realise where I've messed up..

How did everyone find Papers 1 and 2? I thought that Paper 2 seemed remarkably easy in comparison to other years, and the calculations were rather basic.. I'm not sure how that would translate into the grade boundaries for this year though. Paper 1 was OK, a few strange questions but overall it definitely felt easier than some previous years.

Hello IBS. I hope that all of you are happy that you are done with physics for a while (in my case, i'm completely happy to have ended Physics). Paper 1 was really easy compared to other years. I think that i've only got 1 wrong by misreading the question, but besides that, the questions were only definitions/theory and almost no application of the concepts to different situations. I'm guessing that the grade boundaries will be high for that paper. Paper 2 was so-so. The first part of Section A was easy (calculating the constant), but the one with the magnetic field was very difficult (I did a horribe calculation and got a weird value for the magnetic field). On the other…

Did you guys think that the exams were difficult? I found Paper 1 to be really easy. The essay (the one of sources of energy as far as i can recall), wasn't as hard as compared to the other ones, that were sincerely atrocious. On the other hand, Paper 2 was actually hard. I did Option A, D and F. The Option A question was a bit tricky (the one regarding floodpain management), the Option D was very hard (describing the characteristics of a tornado) but the essay was fine, and Option F was so-so (i invented a case study for the essay, the one regarding the impacts of an infectious disease, i think). Finally, Paper 3 was really weird. A lot of topics weren't assessed in the…
