Hi guys, From December 2014 to Feb 2015 I rehearsed for and performed in a musical hosted by my school. I want to count it as Creativity, and Action, so it can be a CAS project. I described in my reflection that rehearsing for the musical was physically challenging, because of choreography and all that. Isn't that an action? Or do I have to detail health benefits of this kind of "exercise"? I know people associate the Action part of CAS with things like sports and something contributing to a healthy life style. Could this too count?

I mean math one does on freetime, OUTSIDE curriculum (of course homework doesn't count). I'm on Pre but we need to do some practice CAS already I'm struggling to gather Creativity hours and I tough this could be an idea. I've been working on basics of linear algebra from outside IB curriculum, and, techincally I'm learning new skill, I'm totally enjoying myself and developing as person and "finding new aspects to myself" like our CAS teacher instructed me to do ... Totally CAS right? Is there some limitation that could prevent me from getting CAS for this?

So my CAS coordinator is disagreeing with me on a few activities' eligibility for CAS and I was wondering what you think, because I totally think these qualify and will keep arguing it Cooking class Drawing class I just can't see to articulate it in a way that he'll accept...he asks me how is cooking creative and I say like you learn and then you're able to change the dishes and eventually make your own but that's not good enough. What should I say? And for Action, I was saying golf (which he already approved and completed for 2 of my friends) lessons, but he says I don't move enough, which I agree with, but it's been done??? Do any of you have any "weak" action activ…

Hey guys. I've been told different things at my school. I've been emailed that I need 10 reflections meeting 8 learning outcomes. But that doesn't necessarily = cas project # amount, right? You could right different reflections for 1 CAS project, right? As long as you're doing different jobs within that project? I'm so confused. See, not all of my CAS activities were done long enough to be considered a CAS project. I'm really hoping that I don't need 10 projects, just 10 reflections. I have enough activities, just not "projects".

I'm still thinking if ideas for CAS, our CAS plan is due in soon and I'm not too sure what I can do for service. I'm just wondering if 40 hour famine counts since I do raise money for charity and it does address a few of the learning outcomes.

I have my exams on May, however, I got serval questions about my CAS I have 6 CAS activities, and I have fulfilled the 150 hours requirement and all 8 learning outcomes are met, I got ongoing activities and non school based activities, but will the number of CAS activity make me fail CAS? (6 don't seems much...) Thanks

Hi! I was just wondering whether the IBO or our school CAS coordinators ever give a call to activity supervisors in order to make sure we actually did the activity. Because not all of my supervisors remember me... and I'm freaking out that I will fail the IB because of CAS...haha Thank you guys in advance!

Can you run a website/blog as a Creativity activity?

Hello everyone, I'm currently a pre-IB student, but I'm starting IB in a few months, so I started wondering what I will do for CAS and that's what my question is about: Can you run a website or a blog as your Creativity activity (in CAS)? I DON'T mean just running a blog when you provide evidence for your CAS hours and write reports, etc. I mean a "serious" website. I think mine would be about technology, internet security and generally tech news.

I am volunteering at the local retirement home, and counting it for CAS. I have done 4 days so far, and a total of about 25 hours. However, I heard there was a limit of 15 hours for volunteering for one place. Is there a rule like this? Or what is the exact rule? I'm not really familiar with that one??

I know this is probably asked a lot, but I would love to know what Creativity, Action and Service is, and what it entails. I go to a school that offers IB alongside the normal diploma program in Australia but they do not explain it very well to us, and it is really up to the students to research what IB is. Thanks!

How much CAS do you do per week?

Hello! I've been starting to plan CAS, but I'm not sure how I should plan it for each week - should I do e.g. 2 hours of creativity the first week and the second week 2 hours of service and have approx 1 hours action/week and repeat it the whole year? Do you have any advice on how I should plan it and how did you manage to do all of your CAS hours AND homework?? (I imagine that it takes a lot of time!)

Please help me!! I am a senior struggling to finish my CAS requirements, and I was wondering what categories acting in a play falls under? I know it counts for creative, but I really need active and service hours, so if anybody could tell me if I can count it for either of those, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if you're allowed to do CAS for a for-profit organisation? Say, if you worked as a volunteer at a large organisation such as a museum that was for profit, could you count this for CAS (probably for service)? Thank you all! I'm reaching the end of my IB journey and really need to finish my CAS :')

Hi I'm in the IB1. I have already done enough hours for creativity and service. My only problem is action. For the first two months of IB I have done sports each week. However, in December I have done just two hours of action. And here's my problem. IB says that projects need to be continuous. However, what does it mean? For instance, do we need to do sports each week or each fortnight? What happens if there are missing weeks (like 2 or 3)?

Hey guys, I'm a new guy here at IB in Sweden, and I have to choose my CAS activities soon. I made a simple list of the CAS activities I could do, but I'm not sure if it would be accepted as CAS though :/ Please, help me out? Creativity: 1. Write a short novel 2. Art (editing photos. sculpting, sketching etc.) 3. Playing an instrument 4. Star a Wargaming Club (strategic board games e.g. Warhammer 40k) Action: 1. Swimming 2. Working out in the gym Service: 1. Teaching kids who need help in middle school 2. Helping out in the town library These are my basic ideas for my CAS activities, but I'm not sure if it would be accepted as CAS (especially the Wargaming Club …

Hi, Now I have at least 120 hours of CAS to finish and I am trying to do most of them this year so I would have more time to study next year. For service, I started couching an american football team of some classmates and have around 9 hours left and helping some nine graders with their lessons and homework. For creativity, I am learning Greek But still there are two Action and one Creativity missing that I can't find any ideas for them. Note: I need at least 20 hours in each one of them. So any ideas? Thanks.

In my opinion, I think CAS is a good thing. It pushes students to have extracurriculars and volunteer experience so they at least have something to offer colleges. However, since CAS is a requirement, do colleges see through it? I'm concerned because I have extremely inconsistent EC's under my belt. Freshman -Actor in the school musical & lettered in drama (whole year) -Writer for the school newspaper (whole year) Sophomore -Swim team (two months) -Member of a selective film jury outside of school (two months) From these two years, I have an idea of what I like to do and don't. The thing is, I'm starting the IB Diploma Program this fall and I feel like colleges wi…

Hi, About a week or so ago, I finished two of my CAS activities, and when I had to write the reflections for them, I had a bit of trouble because I was slightly confused with what I had to do. I think for the most part, I know what I have to write about, but one of the main things that was confusing me was the number of reflections you have to write for each activity. Is it just one minimum per activity, or does it have to be more? (By the way, my school [st. Francis Xavier S.S] uses Manage Bac for CAS related stuffz) I was also looking on the page where it says "Add reflections and evidence" and there are several options: Journal, Website, YouTube, Photos and Files. CAS requirements.

So, i've been reading on the CAS requirements lately, and it says that it changed on 2010 from 150 hours, to 2 projects on each area and other things. My school still does it with the 150 hour requirement, regardless of the amount of projects. I know this is internally assessed, but could the IB cancel the diploma at my school for not "following" the IB requirements?

I already have over 50 hours for creativity and action, and im close to 50 for service, but my teacher says I have to find a new activity for service that I can do for one hour each week. Is this really required? And, do you know if volunteering for amnesty international would count for service?

In my opinion yes because it is a LOT of physical activity, but I'm not sure if it counts. Otherwise, can I count it for creativity in some way? Also, I'm teaching myself some American Sign Language. Could that possibly be creativity?

This is my first year being part of MUN.. And I'm going to go to the THIMUN conference in 1 and half to two months. I have lots of questions about how MUN conferences generally go....(keep in mind, that I haven't been to any before) My first question is.. Before the conference, will I be given any kind of information? Anything to research on? And if so, what will it be? For now that's the only question I want answered. I'm pretty sure more questions will come to mind once this one is answered.

I mean if Im part of an after school activity, like the MUN club which they have at my school... Does my reflection on it need to be on going? Or can I just write a reflection when I go to a conference? My second question is.. What if I was unsuccessful with an activity I have done or havent really made significant progress with it.. Or just generally had an negative experience with a CAS activity I have undertaken.. Should I still write a reflection for it? My last question is.. What are some other ways I can do my reflections? Hi. Our CAS-coordinator is a nightmare. She sends us emails every f****** day, telling us to take more initiative and remember to reflect on our activities. I am done. I am finished with CAS. After 6 months! I started this autumn and I am finished Spring 2016. We are having CAS lessons at school, every week. 1 hour every week where she says the same, over and over again: "You have to take initiative", and it is the fifth time I had to stand in front of the class and share what I am doing as my 18-month activity. We are getting sooooooo damn tired of her. So my question: Are these CAS-lessons at school mandatory? Can the school actually give us absence for not showing up…
