The point of this project was to get someone from another country, continent, cultural, or ethnic background (basically someone non-U.S.) to do a project with me :]. I need someone that is willing to do a simple experiment with me so that I can get this done It will be simple and once i get someone we will go over what we should do Any takers please post a reply below or PM me and I'll give you my email address. Thank you and greetings from Lynwood, California :]

The problem: I have to have a group 4 project started and finished by Friday. The point of this project was to get someone from another country, continent, cultural, or ethnic background (basically someone non-U.S.) to do a project with to satisfy our Biology teacher :]. I need someone that is willing to do a simple experiment with me so that I can keep him from screaming at me Keep in mind it will be relatively simple and once i get someone we will go over what we should do and it will be...the...best...weeklong project...EVAR Any takers please post a reply below or PM me and I'll give you my email address. Thank you and greetings from Lynwood, California :]

hey everyone so our group 4 topic is water and our Research Question is: "How does salinity, temperature and pressure of water affect the transfer of sound waves" and we'll also be evaluating the importance these qualities have on aquatic animal hearing and SONAR. Is this okay or are we going completely into something else? I'm a bit confused. Thank You!

I was just curious to see whether there was anybody who is doing Sports Science for a Group 4 subject, instead of Biology, Physics etc. My school is one of 10 schools in the world who are offering Sports Science as a pilot course. Cheers!

We need to do a group 4 project, as all of you know. Our topic is "From the supermarket to the laboratory". Our group has a few ideas, but all of them, as said by our teacher, are "trash". Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Our grade's topic was "Made in China" and our group is doing kitchenware...but the thing is..we're not so sure what to test on... ideas that popped up were: - heat conductivity of the cooking ware - non-sticking qualities but we really don't know what to work with and whether these ideas are plausible for two day labwork Any ideas to help us out..?

we were recently told by our teachers that we needed to come up with an idea for our group four project. We decided on the topic of designing a biosphere. although it sounded like a gd idea were not really sure how to address the topic or how we can include experiments in it. we have to include elements of the 3 sciences in it. we're not really sure if we should make a model or not or if the topic is appropriate for a group 4 project in the first place! If anyone could help answering some of these questions it would be much appreciated!!

So I know people aren't allowed to post full experiments about their group 4 project and stuff, but I just really needed help on narrowing my group's topic down! Our topic is Antibiotic Resistant Diseases . It seems interesting but I just have no idea how to narrow it down...kind of frustrated we got this topic because a lot of other groups got topics like Deforestation, Water Supply...really easy stuff! Can someone help? Thanks.

My group and I have to do our Group 4 project on something environmental (it's required by our school) and we have to use real time data. We're having trouble combining the physical and biological aspects of it (incorporating chemistry is easy). The idea we had was studying the effects temperature and water current speed had on the amount of plankton in a certain area but we're having trouble finding real time data to provide for everything we need. Should we continue to pursue the topic and find real time data (any places we might be able to find it?) or should we change our topic (any ideas?)? Any and all help will be appreciated.

k so for our g4 project we decided to do the science in airports, our topic was accepted but our experiment, which was the affect of seasonal temperature changes on asphalt concrete, was rejected. Can anyone think of any other ideas for good strong experiments regarding airports. We are ok with tweaking the central topic a bit to possibly fit your experiment suggestion? PLEASE HELP

My group is doing a group 4 project where our aim is to compare two different places in the city and see the effects of wind on people and the surrounding environment. We are comparing locations where there are lots of cafes with an area that is extremely windy. We figured that cafes with outdoor sitting areas are less windy to not affect the customers. We have got design and physics sorted but a bit stuck on the other two. Would anyone have any suggestions for chemistry and biology?

hi there! im being curious about one thing so i decided that this would be the best place to post it, explain my situation and ask for your opinion, as fellow IB students. I'm just after finishing my physics HL internal assessments. it's pretty late as far as they have to be sent soon but this is all because of our physics teacher. We started doing our IA's at the beginning of this school year and when most of us had them finished our professor came back from some conference in Paris and he said that he misunderstood the guidelines and that all of our internal assessments are wrong. that was really shocking, especially that we hadn't much time left for doing them on…

I've been reading through threads, but I'm still confused as to what Group IV is? Is it worth anything in terms of our IB grade? How do you do well? Can the project be completely mediocre as long as you draw up a strong analysis of why things went wrong? & does anyone have the criterion or a grading rubric? Thanks Much.

How much work does your school usually sent to be evaluated by IB for your group 4 projects? Last year the groups had to write huge lab reports for all the science sections, present the project in a presentation, and then send a picture of the visual. This year instead of presenting our projects we are presenting them in a "science fair" event where everyone just has their visual set up and the teachers can come by and ask questions. No write up is required, and the only thing sent to IB is the picture of the visual. I'm not really getting why they would send lab reports before but not this year. Is the only thing IB needs is a visual and an evaluation of "person…

Our school decided to take us to the dead sea. and i have to admit its very stupid ! we were going to do about our school enviroment ! like experimenting cafeteria food, bathroom toilets. which i believe is MUCH better and more creative. And as for biology we will be experimenting water salinity and bacteria. and for chemistry about electrolysis, pH of water. anyone got any more creative and nice ideas ? would appreciate it ! =]

I'm not sure what gave our adivsors the brilliant idea to come up with a biology theme and expect all the sciences to draw something from that, but whatever. My group has the following topic, any input is appreciated: The affect of the pollution in the water on the stone skippage. The place used to be a landfill, so we're going to test samples of the polluted water for various chemicals and such, and compare it to that of water from another source. I think surface tension will be measured as well. Then video the arc of the stone's path.

My school decided to take us to the Dead Sea so that we could actually carry out our group 4 project. As you may have noticed, unlike any other school in the world, my school decides to choose the place first and then the topic (how creative of them). Anyway, for physics we got stuck with either investigating specific heat capacity of water or pressure. Does anyone have any other interesting ideas for physics.

We just started the IB and were told to do our Group 4 Project, apparently our topic given was "Ocean Water". We were told to incorporate Physics, Biology, and Chemistry into one project?? Could anyone give any examples of how that's done? Especially with ocean water, we came up with ideas that only reflected 1 or 2 sciences. Any tips or suggestions please? Thanks in advance

My physics teacher told our class that we need to do a group 4 project and that our topic is swimming. I don't know what we need to do for the project. I've asked some of the kids in our class and we don't know, so we tried asking the teacher, but he didn't really explain to us. All I know is that we need to log 10 hours doing this project, but otherwise I have no clue. Please help! Thanks! What exactly do I neeed to do for the project? My group and I don't know what we need to do so it is hard to get it done? Can you please explain what is expected to be included in this and what we need to do that would be great. Thanks!

Hey guys, So we were told to do our group 4 Projects and gather ideas.we also need approval signatures. now for those of you who dont know what G4 Project is, i will quickly explain... it is a project which can consist of 4-5 group members and combines physics, biology ,and chemistry. what is really bothering me is that we require approvement signatures. this is what i had in mind: Comparing Mcondald's and KFC's meals and their environmental friendlyness: i jolted down some notes regarding the chemistry behind the cola, the bacteria behind the food itself, and how one should preserve it, temperatures at which they have to be preserved blah blah blah... …

The last two homework assignments for Chem HL have been 7 pages each. Like I get the concepts, considering my 100% on my test, but I am just worried about the future. Our Chem teacher doesn't do really a good job explaining anything, much of the learning has been done through online notes. I wont be able to keep this up over time right? I mean, at some point Equilibrium will roll around and I will be dead stuck So about 10-12 weeks in, we JUST completed Avogadro's number, conversion between grams, molecules, atoms, and moles, and balancing equations. Thats more than 1/4th of my Junior year to go over something that's planned for 2-3 hours. where should I be? Where were…

Hi, i'm in the second year of Biology SL and as you probably all know Group 4 project is coming up, in fact it starts this month.(well it's just a sightseeing and deciding a topic) So far, all I know about the project is my assigned partners from other sciences.(chem,bio...) Other than that, i'm totally stuck that I just feel like i want to go and punch a random hobo in the face... Well, since i neither have a bloody clue on how to approach the project nor decide what the topic is i feel like my life is going to be ruined. Basically my whole point is if any one of you lads who has already finished the project, felt the same way as i am at the begging. I know it's too e…

Okay, so we have our G4 project coming up and the planning is due next week. We were told today that the theme is going to be the , drumroll please... 'beach'. That's just so vague. When I thought of beach, I kinda thought about pollution, because Singapore's beaches aren't exactly clean now. What do you guys reckon as some suitable subtopic? And btw, is it the same topic for all the guys in the M08 'xams or is it a school free choice?

I was wondering why there isn't much information about the Group 4 Project? My G4 is coming up soon, and I have to start it. I know the IBO (or you at least you guys) must have some kind of advice/rubric for doing this project? I wanted to know what the report aspect of the G4 is... like how many words, format of the paper, etc. Thanks!

Group 4 project for Biology and Chemistry

Hi, so I have a group 4 lab-write up due Friday for Biology, and one due soon (whenever my teacher considers soon) in Chemistry. I was wondering...how exactly is the Biology one constructed? Because our teacher hasn't mentioned it, other than giving us colors having to do with bacteria results and birds; and everyone I know is confused. Is this mainly based on research done on your own? Also, is it constructed like a normal long lab write up? And, (last question I promise) how long should I expect this to take? Thanks in advance for any help.
