Hi there. I am currently a Grade 11 student, and have taken the following subjects: Math HLComputer Science HLPhysics HLEconomics SLEnglish - Lang. and Lit. SLFrench Ab Initio SLI'm planning to major in either Computer Science or Applied Math, but am not sure as to which I should pick. I want to become a developer, and am aware of the fact that Applied Math can help my programming skills immensely. In any case, I am planning to follow up with a Masters' in the other subject. Right now, I'm targeting MIT and the other Ivy League Universities. I'd be extremely helpful if you could share some tips on getting in. Currently, I am learning Japanese and Hindi by myself, and am g…

I'm currently a incoming senior. I have a 3.94 GPA, 31 ACT score, and the highest SAT score I have is 1780. I want to go to UF, but I'm afraid that my SAT score will be too low. I also want to be part of the Honors Program because I can get early registration, a residence hall with other Honors students, and there is a camp that freshmen Honors students go to. (If I'm not accepted in the Honors program it won't be a problem for me because UF has the Cancer/Genetics program that I want to do). How difficult would it be for me to get in you think? (omg i feel like im overreacting but im really stressed about university applications).

Hey, What do you think that is better to take, Ielts or Toefl? Which one is easier in case of required 105 or above on the TOEFL iBT or 7.5 on the Ielts? And which one is more useful for applying to colleges (recognition)

Hey, I wan and ask you a question about some activities you did/ do during your IB. I mean what kind of activities do universities see as the best, that may help me in my application? Especially in the U.S.? I just don't know what to do apart from the IB and having some fun with friends 😂 And btw I am interested in economics and politics

Hey y'all So I've been interested in going to Canada for University for quite some time now, for some kind of Engineering course (Like Computer, Mechanical, Geological Engineering) at Waterloo, UBC or Toronto... However, I realized that all Universities in Canada require Chemistry for ALL Engineering courses; this bummed me out quite a bit since I don't take chemistry for IB (My subjects are Computer-Science, Physics, Geography, Math, Spanish ab & English). So people who don't take computer science and take chemistry have a higher chance of getting into a computer science course in Canada (Logic!!!) Anyways, I did take Chemistry for IGCSE, 2 years of highschool …

So i was looking for test prep websites when i came across this one; http://ineedapencil.ck12.org/ They have two full length practice tests (one before you practice and one at the end) I haven't started with the lessons and practice questions and all that because I'm going to do my first test today, but it seems to be a great website. I won't entirely depend on this but it'll keep me motivated to practice frequently I hope this helps someone else out there.

I'm in grade 11, and I'm already starting to think about what universities I'm applying for. UBC is my first choice and I know you need a personal profile. I was wondering if I had a good chance of getting in with my marks so far as well (I'm going for Faculty of Arts). So far, I think I want to use band, Spanish, social and possibly biology. For my personal profile, I have done some volunteer work, I take art classes every week for over 10 years, I play an instrument and I'm in this volunteer club at my school called Rotary. Next year I think I want to get more involved in peer tutoring at school. My marks so far for the classes I'm considering: English 90 Spanis…

Hi, I'm Polish preIB student and my dream is to study Asian Studies (especially Chinese issues) at a good college in UK, US or Singapore. I know that besides good SAT and IB scores I need to show that I'm caring and creative person, involved in many extracurricular activities. But there are two problematic things. I mean, I've been thinking about them for a long time and I still don't know how to deal with this issues so I'd like to see your opinions. Firstly, in my Personal Statement I should show why I'd like to study Asian Studies, my engagement in this area etc. And the problem is, that I don't know what I can do to demonstrate my motivation. I can learn an Asian lang…

I am currently in IB1 and looking at studying abroad in Canada. Do many universities offer grants? If anyone has any useful pointers on Canadian unis that would be a big help! I'm looking at universities in Quebec like McGill, because I am half French so I would like to use both my languages, but I would prefer to study in English. I am looking at taking Human Geography, Sociology or Cultural Anthropology. Many thanks

Hey guys, so I have usually been good at maths, but, this semester of junior year, I messed up my maths end-of-year maths exam big-time and ended up with a 5. My overall semester grades are now as follows: Maths HL- 5 Physics HL- 7 Economics HL - 7 Chemistry SL- 7 Chinese B SL - 6English Lit SL - 6 Last semester, I had gotten a 6 in Maths. I was, however, able to get 800 in Maths 2 and Physics, and a 2270 in the SAT. If I want to get into a really good US university for engineering, does this significantly reduce my chances?

Hello, I've already finished first year of IB, and my subjects are: Biology HL, Chemistry HL, English (B) HL, Math SL, Geography SL Polish SL (A1).Unfortunately I have started doing research about medical universities in USA too late because I was planning to study in Poland but now I have changed my mind. So I'm quite scared because I read that some universities ( e.g http://apply.medschool.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=58) require one year of college Physics with equivalent lab. What am I supposed to do? Hey guys! I'm going to be starting at Kettering University in October, and I plan to attempt the double degree program they have, with Computer Science (CS) and Computer Engineering (CE). Although I have a dilemma - which should I do first? My co-op (required by my university) is totally fine with whatever I choose to do first. Basically, I'll complete the requirements for one degree first, then go on to do the rest from the middle of junior year to the end of fifth-senior year. Any advice or whatnot is appreciated.

I would really like to study either theatre or film production as an undergrad. I plan to double major in one of these and perhaps some sort of business major. Is anyone here planning to study either of these? What kinds of universities have good programs for theatre or film? Yes, I've been researching on Google and whatnot, but I wanted to know other people's experiences and opinions. Also- is anyone else planning to use their Theatre Independent Project in their portfolio for performing arts schools?

In my opinion, I think CAS is a good thing. It pushes students to have extracurriculars and volunteer experience so they at least have something to offer colleges. However, since CAS is a requirement, do colleges see through it? I'm concerned because I have extremely inconsistent EC's under my belt. Freshman -Actor in the school musical & lettered in drama (whole year) -Writer for the school newspaper (whole year) Sophomore -Swim team (two months) -Member of a selective film jury outside of school (two months) From these two years, I have an idea of what I like to do and don't. Hi everyone. I am posting this on the forum to gain an outside appraisal of my situation, I will be applying to colleges predominantly in the States, with max 2-3 outside (Ireland and Hong Kong). My dream college is Georgetown, which mandates 3 SAT II subject tests on top of the traditional SAT. I plan to take the Math II, Chemistry and Literature tests. I took the SAT I in Jan and got 2120, which is lower than what I'd like and so I have to retake. Here is where I currently face a dilemma: Between now and November 1 (the due date of Georgetown's EA application) there are 3 test dates: May, June and October in which I have to fit 3 SAT IIs and a retake of the SAT I.…

I remember seeing a BSc & MBA program at some university before, now I can't find it anywhere Are there any universities in Canada that have programs that combine a BSc with some business related degree? I'm interested in studying chemistry/biology but I also think I'll like working for a company rather than research so I think maybe a degree in that area will help...? But on a side note, if I do end up getting BSc and MBA somehow, and then I decide to do a PhD in a science, will I risk being overqualified if I'm working, for example, as quality assurance or some position similar to that in a company?

I'm a full IB student taking all the standard stuff and math SL. I want to do either precalc 12 or calc 12 in the summer to ease the work the following year (in Gr11 right now) but I don't know how the course will affect my grades? Will they take (CAN universities only) the higher of Math SL vs Precal 12 or will they only see Math SL since I'm full IB? It's very confusing for me; I was already confused when McGill said they'll look at me as a normal high school student first then consider IB grades... And also, which one will be better for preparing for SL?

I received my IB grades recently and my predicted grades were 27 but I got a 21. Its reaally low and I know it. I also appeared for SAT my score was 1840 (CR: 560 M:700 W:580 Essay:8). I also appeared for SAT Subject test recently and I'm expecting around 650 for Math I and Physics. I used to be a good student in IGCSE though; 2 A*, 5 A and 2 B. Hi, I have two questions regarding the department of Economics at Harvard College. 1. I will go to the army in Finland after I graduate from the IB to get a 12 months leadership education and after that apply to Harvard College Economics. Let´s say I don't get in and want to re-apply the following year, will that then lower my chances since I have not attended school for 24 months, I will of course work, do voluntary work, go back-packing, study basics in business and management and go back-packing in South East Asia so I won't just sleep and eat all day long at home. 2. I'm not sure if I want to settle down in the United States after attending Harvard, or return …

Hey guys, I was thinking about doing the full IB program next year, and I want to go to UBC sciences or applied biology after I graduate. Do you guys know if UBC offers scholarships for IB? Can I also apply for regular curriculum scholarships if I'm doing IB? ( I live in BC, Canada) also, approximately what score do you think I need to get to get into ubc? I know it's really competitive and I don't want doing IB to ruin my chances to get in, since I'm a 95% student. Also, do you think maybe doing IB Certificate, (only IB sciences) could ruin or help me get into UBC?

I finally found something that makes me want to study everything the IB has to offer and work my ass off for a 40+ and that is going to study in NYU, either Photography and Imaging, or Film (who let me into IB, lol, huh?) Thing is, that would leave me in about $200k in debt as far as I understand. Does anyone know better or have experience? As far as I understand, they are stingy overall, plus only offer financial aid for freshman year for undergrads -- is that right? In another forum, some students were complaining about how the NACES failed to "translate" their transcripts properly and did not recognise some of the systems.
