Hey guys! I'm a long-time lurker but first-time poster. I have an important question I'd like to ask: for those of you in the Economics or Business undergraduate programs at UofT.... What do you think of the programs themselves, and what did you apply with? I'm interesting in pursuing a degree in Economics, before pushing for a law degree. I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight I'm taking HL Economics, SL Business, SL French, HL English, HL Chem and SL Math. The only mark I'm concerned about is SL Math - I'm averaging about a 5 right now, and I was wondering if that would potentially screw me over once I apply Thanks!

Hello, I paid the application fee for Ryerson University through 105F application already and got my ID MyRyerson account. However, I do not see any portal for submitting IB predicted grades. Does Ryerson not accept IB predicted grades? I also thought I could fulfill my English requirement through my predicted grade of 7 for IB Language and Literature A class. But on most of their webpages for both the subject and the English requirement, they only show the requirements for those who have COMPLETED the IB Diploma but I am due to complete IB this May 2018 and the application is due Feb 1. I am freaking out!! Will I not get accepted?? I have a predicted overall of 40…

Hi everyone, So Uni applications are due soon and I'm a bit confused over the IB scores. Mac's Health Sci program (very popular) needs an anticipated IB score of 36 points and average above 90%. Would I still be eligible for admission if I was able to keep my average well over the 90s, but not reach the anticipated score (getting 35 or 34 instead)? If the IB is going to hinder my chances of getting in, is it mandatory to include anticipated IB scores? Just a bit flustered with the system. Thanks.

So I've applied to a few universities: UCLA, UCSD, UCIrvine, UCSB, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, Georgia Tech, University of Concordia, University of Texas at Austin. My IB Predicted is 39, 2 bonus points. Last year I've been getting a total of around 38-40 from midterms. My SAT score is horrible (1250). As for activities, I've done a few things: Built a device for charging and discharging capacitors Organised a bake sale Participated in TOK Conference 2017 in Istanbul Participated in 2017 Fibonacci Games (not an international event) Along with a classmate, made a revision app for physics. Making a TOK one now. With half of my class, …

Hi everyone, So most of the universities I've applied to require submitting high school documents. Do I submit my predicted IB scores? My school gives us midterm and end of term exams, but this year we'll only do midterm. So I'm really confused and don't know what to do.

Hey guys, I am currently in my final year of the IB program, I have predicted 39/42 points and I plan on applying to three Canadian universities: University of Toronto, Ryerson University and McGill University. I want to major in International Relations or Political Science depending on what the universities offer. I am applying to Ontario universities through OUAC, does anyone know how the transcripts are supposed to be sent and how that works overall? Also do I include predicted grades in the application? Thank you for your help!

Because my choices are either UCLA and UCSD or UCSD and UCI. Thank you. PS. Im willing to study computer science.

Hello all, Long story short I dropped the full IB diploma a few days ago and I am now currently doing the IB certificate. I am doing 6 subjects, 4 SL's and 2 Hl's. I dropped Biology HL to SL, it was just too much content for me to handle. Anyways, my question is will I be able to get admitted into a good school? I'm focusing more on Canada than America in terms of schools. I am in my second year of IB and my current score is 26 but I'm trying to push it up. My counselor and I emailed most of my American schools and they mostly said they don't care about whether it's the full diploma or certificate but 1. I don't have very high grades and 2. My SAT score is not that c…

Hey All, I'm planning on pursuing Computer Science in university, ideally in the US or Canada. I wanted to know what the general requirements are for the subject in both the US and Canada. So far I've written the New SAT with Essay, and my subjects for the IB are Math(HL), Physics(HL), Computer Science(HL), Language and Literature(SL), Spanish ab initio(SL), Business Management(SL). Are my subject choices fine? Should I be doing any other tests(AP or SAT Subject Test)? Any help would be appreciated!

I am a Canadian planing to study in a Canadian University, however I only decided my career option at the end of my junior year which is civil engineering. However, the subjects I took are Physics SL, Math SL, Engish Lit HL, ITGS HL, Arabic B and ESS. I recently found out that Chemistry is supposedly mandatory for engineering courses. If so, can I still apply for engineering courses without taking chemistry?

I'm in Pre-IB grade 10 (MYP5) class in an international school in Stockholm and it's actually my first year in an English speaking school (I've always been in a French school). I plan to become a psychiatrist and therefore need to study medicine then specialize in psychiatry (Ph.D. level studies). My dream is to study at an Ivy league school, mainly Harvard. I don't know what subjects to take next year, but do you think this looks good: HL: Biology, Psychology, English B SL: Maths, French self-taught, Global Politics (As you can see I haven't chosen other sciences than biology (psychology is in an individuals and societies subject at my school) and that's b…

Hello! I'm an Indian IB student looking to study Engineering in the US. You see, I've researched a lot about potential universities but I'm still lacking some match and safety schools and I'm currently extremely doubtful whether the unis I have in mind are a good fit for my strengths. I'd love it if an educational counselor or anybody who knows the US admissions well could message me and help me out. Thank you in advance!

I'm planning on applying to Brown University and John Hopkins. However, I might get a full ride tuition to University of Texas (rank #20s in biology). The Ivy League Schools have a better reputation and better acceptance for jobs, but then if I get a full ride, then I wouldn't have to pay for an ok university. Planning on majoring in Biology or Biochemistry.

Do # of volunteer hours/ school clubs increase my chance? Which is a better uni for undergrad and why? ( I've heard U of T is not so good). What advice would you give me/ any other important info I should know abt? Do the chances of an IB diploma certificate improve my chances? Then, I want to go to Dental school/ Med school...not sure yet but I currently like Dentistry. Also what are the pros and cons of U of T, Mac, UWO and Mcgill? ( life/ health sciences) Thx...

Hello, I hope things are going well! I'm resitting since I had serious medical problems in May. However, the results will come out on January 5th and most of the universities I'm applying to through the Common App have January 1st as their deadline. Therefore, I found out that the transcripts will be just sent to one university in the US for free once these are released and that I need to pay for the others. Is this actually how it works? How are you going to do? Is there another way? Because it would be so much money afterwards! Thank you!

Do universities care about what HL courses you take? Is it better to do HL or get a really high mark in an SL course? I'm not sure what I want to go into exactly yet, but I'm considering engineering as an option. At this point, I do not take any HL sciences though. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

So I did some research on both of these and people had different opinions. Can someone briefly explain the differences, and if I can study mechatronics in mechanical engineering.

Hey guys, I'm a month into Year 1 of IB and I just wanted to ask about the specific requirements to get into software engineering/computer science courses in the US and Canada. Hi! So yeah, this is my first post but I've been lurking on this site for a while Anyway, I had an important question for any of you who are taking Computer Engineering after the IB program. So basically, I'm in my first year of IB and I took SL Math rather than the HL one (I'm not that great at math - passable, but not perfect) and I've now realized that applying to Computer Engineering might be a bit of a problem, as I've heard that HL is better. I'm thinking of applying to University of Toronto for my Engineering degree, after which I want to apply to law school. Any thoughts on whether having SL Math is going to seriously affect my chances? Hey guys, I have to submit a list of 10 unis to school before summer break ends, I am really looking forward to a good uni in the US, but my grades are not that great, and I need a scholarship as well (asian student). I am aiming for psychology, hopefully in a top 30 university. My SAT score is 1380 (retaking in October) and my final exams grades are 36 (possibly a PG 38-39). Hi y'all, I'm wondering how the predicted grades work for the EA/ED. I want to apply to at least 1-2 schools for non-restrictive Early Action, but my grades 9-11 has been pretty bad, but I've been improving every year so I have to include my grade 12 grades somehow to my applications. So my question is: - When do PGs become available? Can they be sent by Nov. 1st? (the EA deadline) My GC said that they can submit a temporary PG by Nov 1 and submit an official fall PG in mid-November, but if that's the case, are the unis gonna care much if the initial one is bad? I moved school for grade 12 (Ik it sucks, I kinda had to) and I don't know how much the teachers…

So I want to major in Mechanical Engineering and will (hopefully) graduate in 2018, from what I've heard they get a ton of work. I was told that most people study 20-30 hours a week which really shocked me since I study about 2 hours a day and still get good grades. My friends told me that I will need to take other courses besides math and physics, is this true?. How many laboratory works do you do a week? Whats the usual deadline? Do you have time for other social activities? How long do you stay up for? Oh and also, I'm only interested in American and Canadian universities, if that makes a difference.

Hey guys, I am about to enter my first year of IB and I am about to face one of my most important life choices - whether to take Bio or Physics. In fact, if my school allows it, I would love to take them both along with my other subjects (see below) in exchange for the manifestation of pure suffering "Chinese A Lit". However, since my school forces us to take Chinese A if we are "Chinese Enough" I only have one vacant spot left and am currently deciding between the two aforementioned subjects. So I was wondering what type of US university courses (biomed, engineering etc) will Choice A (see below) tend towards as opposed to Choice B (see below) Choice A: HL: Bio, Ma…

Summing up things, did perfectly fine living with my poor life until a lot hit me this year (already poor to really poor, stress of little money for my siblings [4 of them] to also go to college, etc) I could only join 1 club last year as a junior due to money problems and will be joining another club next year and that's it. Also, because of the mountain of stress occupying my brain 24/7, I had a really rump year with my grades (made a 4 on Chem SL, but I will work very hard for other ib subjects next year). Hi everyone! I'm a 16 year old Canadian citizen but I live in Chile and I'm going to graduate here. Calling all students who are studying at University of Toronto or have applied. How much did you need to be accepted out of 45? While we all sent our Predicted Grades, the condition the letter asked us to have is maintaining the grades. I'd like to ask, since my grades have kinda fallen from my Predicted Grades, how many of you had this experience that the offer actually got revoked from University of Toronto? Did you all take Summer School to make up for it? Also, how much is OK to fall from PG to Final? Can they really revoke at this stage since it's already July...
