Hello all, I'm finalising my list of Universities for Business Management/Administration. However, I am not sure of which schools to apply to. I'm currently doing IB and my predicted is 39. I'm thinking of these schools: University of BathThe University of EdinburghKing's CollegeUniversity of ExeterUniversity of KentI was thinking that Bath and Edinburgh are my best case scenario schools. I'm not sure if I should keep King's, Exeter and Kent or swap one for St Andrews?

About pre- interview tests for Oxford
by Guest Unchenti- 1 reply

Hello everyone, Well, I realized that I need to take a pre- interview tests such as LNAT or TSA etc..before the interview. I searched about this in the Oxford website, but still there are few things that I am not really sure how it works. well,,,,for example, PPE says applicants who do not take the pre-interview test will not normally be shortlisted for interview. What do I have to do to show them that I am going to take the test? or Is this mean that I have to give a result of it with application? But how can I give the result to them since interview is on december and TSA result comes out in next January? Always thank you for helping me

Hey all! I'm really starting to consider UCL as a potential university to apply to and was wondering if math studies would be enough to get into their Information Management system. They don't specify it on their requirement page but I hope to get more detailed answers and insights! Thank you!

Hello, I have a question related to top medicine universities in UK and scholarships. Does any of you know what criteria you have to fulfil to get a scholarship for medicine in one of these universities? I know one person who got such scholarship, however she was an A Level student, so I do not know if it applies also to the IB students. If you know anything, please let me know.

Do I have to write history EE for Oxford law?

Hi Well ... I heard that lots of people who went to law had written history EE. If that is essential, I need to write history EE too. But if the score is more important, I think it is better to write ee about German. What do you think about my idea? If you know anything about this, please give me an advise. Thank you

Hi guys, Now that we are well and truly into the admissions process, I believe that it is a good time to start looking at certain difficult decisions we might have to make. Namely, choosing between two offers. I'm fairly sure I am not the only who will be put in this situation. Here is my "ranking", in terms of preference of universities: 1) Oxford/LSE (PPE for Oxford, Phil & Econs for LSE) 2) Warwick/Durham (PPE) 3) Manchester As you can see, I am slightly stressing out when I think of (at the risk of sounding like a cocky idiot) choosing between offers from Oxford and LSE. More realistically, I already have offers from Durham and Warwick. If both LSE and Oxford …

Hey guys, Well I finally, after many troubles with this, decided to apply for economics and business degree. Althought I don't see myself as an economist my parents advise me to choose economics rather that business, or at least a joint degree telling me that busieness is kind of "all and nothing" soft degree and economics is something that will attract my future employees more. I agree with them but I have maths at only SL level, I am hopefully going to have predicted grade 7 and I don't suck at maths too much, but it is still SL not HL. I wonder if I have any chances to get into economics with maths (SL) and whether I had bigger chance if I applied for business. Maybe y…

Hi guys Sorry I've been away for quite a while - spent two amazing months backpacking through Asia, and then uni application stuff. As some of you applying to Oxford for certain courses might know, the TSA is coming up really soon. From what I have heard, it is the most important factor in deciding whether you get an interview or not (assuming that your grades are acceptable to them). From scouring the internet, it appears as though there are certain "boundaries". These are based on your TSA score after the conversion: <63% - Usually no interview, unless your grades are amazing 65% - 72% - You might get an interview >73% - You most likely will get an interview, p…

Hey guys, University of Warwick recently introduced a new undergraduate course for 2014 called 'BSc Information Systems Management & Innovation'. I previously wanted to apply for 'Management' but ISM & Innovation looks very interesting to me and fully caters my interests. However, assuming I do get into the course, I'll become the first batch to do this course and this sounds exciting yet risky at the same time... There are no solid information to career prospects or alumni reviews/experience as it is a totally brand new course for 2014 I'm not even sure if the course will establish successfully as I have yet heard a single word from anyone interested of applying…

Hey guys I'm studying IB (year 1) now in Denmark. I am considering to apply to Oxford physics (Merton College) next year, and my higher level subjects are Math HL, Physics HL, Chemistry HL. It says that A-level Further maths would be good; but IB's can't take this? And my school doesn't offer (IB FM HL, which according to my teacher only 70 people take in the world). Would I be at a disadvantage for physics simply because I do not have the possibility of studying FM? What if I make up for the relevant parts of the syllabus that is not covered in Math HL? Besides, I study physics RATHER intensely in my spare time...

If anyone has any interview/ PAT test tips that would also be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

I'm not sure where I want to study yet. But, I'm thinking on whether I should change my subject list or not. Currently: -Math, Economics, Business (HL) -Chemistry, Eng LL, Spanish Ab initio Possibly, would-be: -Math, Economics, Business, Computer Science (HL) -Eng LL, Spanish Ab initio. Reason I'm changing from chem to c.sc is I feel c. sc. is more practical and makes more sense for me. A lot of kids in my school took 4 + HLs. I like computers. I would appreciate your inputs. Do colleges prefer more HLs/ greater scores?

Hi, I would probably kill someone if he asked me whether straight 7s seem too ideal to be true but well, one of my teacher told me that uni would see my grades to be bit exaggerated and I don't wanna ruin my chances... Basically I know I'm capable of having 7 from all my subjects but it would be nice to have a point off as an insurance (if I then got a conditional offer of 41/42 instead of 42/42, it would certainly put some pressure off). However I'm applying to Oxford and I suppose that there will be many applicants with 42/42. Has anyone experienced this or has any advice please? Thanks

Hi! While reading HKUST's School-Specific Requirements for Computer Science candidates, I came across this: School of Engineering Senior Level Mathematics, and One Senior Level subject from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Studies, Statistics Do they mean "HL" by Senior Level? Ok so I am going to uni in September 2013, I want to go for a good law university but around 35-38 points..not top top unis.. But I mainly want to study criminal law and look into criminiology but hardly any good UK unis can offer this course? Only starting from unis around 40th in the Independent stats of the best unis.. Would I have to do a conversion course from one to the other? or how else could I go about doing these courses? I also am hoping to move out to South Africa and get a job in law out there, even though I have studied it in the UK, can I still do this? Is the law much different there? Thank you! xx

Hello, so I received my IB diploma in 2012. At that point I held conditional offers from Uni of Leeds and SOAS. However, I only received 35 points, which was about 3 points below my conditional offers. Thus, they withdrew their offers. I have re-taken 3 subjects in november increasing my score to 37 points with 18 points in my HLs (not that much of an improvement..i know) and a lowest score of 4 in math SL. Unfortunately, most Universities I'm prepared to pay 9000 pounds a year for require 38 points with 6/6/6 in all HLs eg. Kings college or SOAS. I'm planning to study something along the lines of politics or international relations preferably in combination with chinese,…

Hi! I would like to study medicine overseas in the UK as an international student (I don't have a British passport) - I should definitely be able to meet the minimal requirements for the courses and I have great work experience too, but then I also know that it is extremely competitive for international students since each school only offers minimal places. Do you guys know what is the typical offers/entry grades for international students hoping to get into UK medical schools?

So, I'm applying to Oxford at the beginning of this coming year. A huge decision I have made, with the problem that I'm not very confident. I have my last year planned and am determined to do well and meet the minimum requirements, but I know that's only half the marathon. Is there anyone out there that could give me tips for the application to Oxford? Tips for the interview, TSA, personal statement, and so on. Any advice would help. I'm applying to other universities, so I'm not making the mistake of only applying there, but it IS my main focus. It would mean so much to me if I got in. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I've been meaning to apply to universities in the United States all my life, but have recently decided to apply to universities in the UK in the future after a certain series of events. One thing I have noticed about the universities in the UK is that the all state a certain A-level/ IB Score that must be obtained in order to receive an offer. Hello fellow IB Survivors! I have an urgent problem to settle, regarding UCAS and universities in general. On my UCAS application I selected the STEP examination as a qualification that I would be obtaining. STEP is an entrance examination in the field of mathematics, which is mandatory only for prospective students at the universities of Cambridge and Warwick, and usually only for those wishing to read mathematics, although there are some exceptions. Because I was applying to Warwick, I just put it down, as they require STEP for future (?) mathematicians. Other universities I applied to have a different policy towards STEP: Imperial College and Bristol, for instance, do…

Hi guys! I'm from Singapore. I'm currently waiting for my IB results (predicted 43), which are coming out in July. My intention was to apply for Oxford university after taking a gap year. However, my parents very recently informed me that sending me to an overseas university is not an option, financially speaking. Obviously I was pretty shocked. One option would be to go to a local university. They are ranked pretty well, but I really would rather not do that. I recently found out about a college called "Stansfield College" that works in conjunction with the University of London. Also there is a column in UCAS asking for qualification like 1) Graduate and higher honors. 2) Below graduate and honors ( IB comes in that) 3) None. Well when I have selected 2nd option they started asking marks ( I did not gave IB exams yet). Also why does UCAS asks for 21 pounds? And should I register through school or by individual. Thanks!

Hi guys, I was researching the economics course at Cambridge and the application process today and there was something I didn't quite understand. I was under the impression that there is only one university of Cambridge (like one campus) but on their website (http://www.study.cam.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/economics/) there seems to be quite a few. So are these "sub uni's" of Cambridge or how does it work? Are some better than others? And if you go to the link I attached, you'll see the different assessments for the course and I was wondering, what do they mean by "test at interview"? Will there be an interview and then a test or is the interview the test? Thanks!

Since uni. is free for me both in Sweden and Scotland, where do you guys think would be the best place to go for an economics degree? I personally think that Scotland would be more interesting to study in because I have lived in Sweden for 14 years and I don't find it to be a very fun country to live in. However if the degree would be better in Sweden I am willing to stay here. So basically my question is: Which country has (in general) a better economics degree?
