Well, I came up with a thought that it'd be nice to know a bit more about our users here, so I came up with this topic. What you're supposed to do is pretty simple - copy&paste the questions below and then answer next to them. Feel free to skip any questions you don't want to answer. 1. What is your real name? 2. Where are you from? 3. How did you find out about IB Survival? 4. What made you register on IB Survival? 5. When did you (approximately) register here? 6. What is your favourite IB subject? 7. When are you graduating? 8. What are your plans for university? 9. What are your free-time hobbies? 10. If you could change one thing on IB Survival, what would it be?

I wanted to ask you a question from a long time ago, but forgot about it. WHAT DOES YOUR NAME REPRESENT/MEAN? (Meaning, in case it's not your real name/first name, why did you choose it?). I guess I'll start. It was a really random decision when I had to register to TSR, but I really love the name. BIO (as in biology, my favorite subject; and biological, as in completely pure and innocent) and AQUA (as in water, the power of water; and a word that I really love), so it's kind of the best of both worlds . Merge both words together, and it adds up to "Biological Water; a completely pure water which everyone needs to survive..." P.S If you google search my name, you get …

Good morning (or good evening) ladies and gentlemen I decided to start a topic which I haven't seen on this forum before, but which can definitely make someone smile. IB and other education levels are hard - we as the youth of this world have so much pressure upon us that we break sometimes. Some of us fall hard but stand back up, where as some have troubles after trying to get back up a few times. There are also so many different reasons for people to be upset, and it's really a shame that people have to feel that way. Since the rate of anxiety, depression, and suicide has been rising in the recent years amongst teenagers, I thought that some small acts may help us all.…

Some of you may have noticed that we now have the ability to "react" to posts here on IB Survival. What other reactions would you like to see? And what icons would you like?

I know it's the question we all dread second most in the world (the first being 'So, finished that Extended Essay yet?' ), but I thought I'd make a thread for us to compare and contrast our dreams for the future. Who knows, maybe somebody out there also wants to be a professional orthinologist, just like you! So, for my part: I, like all girls my age, have always dreamed of being Supreme Ruler of the Universe. I'm told the University of Ballarat has an excellent course in Omnipotent Lordship, but I have to get 40 or up to qualify... Oh, you wanted a serious answer! I want to study Production at VCA. I want to be involved in plays and film and television - I want t…

I am posting this here because I feel that it will get more attention. I am basically writing this to get your views on what you would like to see here at IB Survival. Although I feel like the forum is great as it is, I feel like there are ways in which we could improve. The question is, if you were in control of this site, and you could do anything, what would you do? How would you structure the site? What would you add? Just curious to hear some opinions. I'm all ears.

Yeah, random post at 4:30 AM in the morning... Procrastination is killing me. And I'm 5'5 (or 165 cm). Doubt I'll grow anymore considering my sleeping habits.

Has any IB student pulled an all nighter, or close to one? The latest I've slept was 6:00 am, to complete an IA.

What time do you guys get to go to bed considering average amounts of homework? And what are your time schedules like? I'd say 11:30. I finish school at 3:00 get home by 4:00, 4-5:00hr free time if i have no swim practice, 5-9:00study/do hwk - lots of time is wasted here since i dont work productively 9-11:00 finish other subjects off/free time

Right now, I'm procrastinating on studying for my SAT retake in November, studying for Spanish, and Hamlet dialogues for English. Also, as with every other IB student, the Extended Essay . Although, I do have somewhat of an excuse, as I have not received my rough draft back from my advisor.

Hello everyone, I've just realized that there isn't a thread for chatting about random stuff that merge IB and non-IB issues. I know that the rest of the threads are much more specific, but more broad conversations (where everyone can talk about anything - things that don't fit in the other threads) are nice to have around here. I'm talking about interests, random questions, post-exam feelings and comments on anything. You know, to connect, share opinions, ehm.. increase posts.. Ok, I guess I'll start. Long have I wanted to know what went wrong in the Chemistry May 2007 exam. People talk and talk but you can't seem to get a real answer. So we started off with our seni…

I'm curious as to how people first heard of IBSurvival. It's pretty self-explanatory. How did you find about IBSurvival? Where was the first place that you find the link/heard the name of the site? I expect, for now, the majority of the choices would be TSR, but I hope that will change as the forum grows and we get more members. Oh, if you got the link from Facebook, please specify which Facebook group. If you chose through a friend and that friend is a member here, by all means, say who. Everyone vote, please, even the ones that I already know come from TSR!

So who here loves music? What kind? What are some of your favourite artists? Does music help or hurt you while studying? This thread is where we discuss all of this and more (respectfully!). Personally I've been listening to a lot of The Verve lately. I can't wait to listen to their first album in over a decade. However, I think my favourite band has to be Incubus, hands down.

Have a question you've always wanted to know the answer to, but never been able to find the answer because your question is so obscure or you just haven't been looking in the right place? IB-related, to do with sports, food or anything, no matter how random. Hopefully someone can answer it for you, and if even if no one can, we'll join you in contemplating the randomness of life's unanswered mysteries. First question: How do they get football pitches to be marked out in different coloured grass (dark green, light green, dark green, etc.)? Do they cut the grass in different directions? Do they comb the grass? Do they grow different grass species in different parts? Thi…

So yeah, like the title suggests, which is your favourite subject? Mine would be Business and Management. I think LC's would be ToK . And HMS's would prolly be English . What's yours?

Let your anger out here and make that difference you so strongly yearn for. We all misspell some words, so it's good for us (bearing in mind our English marks) to finally learn to spell them correctly. And if anyone writes the words previously corrected wrong ever again under this topic, that someone is a dead man. Haha! Allow me to start: Definitely. No, not deffanetly nor deffinately, nor defanitely nor any of the million other variations out there - just simply definitely. It's so widely used everyone should learn to spell it correctly, don't you agree? ''Definitely'', you should answer. Your turn. Go ahead, viva la language revolucion!

Well, life sucks in general, really, especially life in IB. We all know the feeling of going on and on and complaining about IB stress, or just stress in our lives in general. So it's even more important to savour the small little good moments in life, I think. This is a thread for you to share with others the little good things in your life right now. Why is life good right now? It's not hard to think of little good moments in your life, even if it's just stupid stuff like you heard a good joke or whatever. But recognising them as good times can make you feel loads better. So the rule of this thread is that you can't complain about anything in here. You have to start…

Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Lion King, Pocahontas, Aladdin, you name it. I can't be the only person that's way past the age of kid's movies and still watches them. I've just asked my friend if she can look in her 7 year old sister's video collection and see if she has Thumbelina. And I have exams next week, yet I still watched Aladdin and the Swan Princess this week Personal favourites: Lion King, The Swan Princess, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Hercules. I hate Pinocchio. And no sequels, ever. Such bad storylines. I can't stand the English version of the movies. The translation in Finnish is always much funnier, the singing better and the actor's voices somehow less…

Instead of having multiple birthday threads (in the future, of course, when we get more members ), I think it would be better and neater for us to have one big birthday thread. This way, when a member's birthday comes up and you want to wish them Happy birthday, you can come here instead of creating a new thread. Though, of course, I may have an ulterior motive in creating this thread, considering my birthday is coming up. Spoiler - Click me! ...I don't want to turn 19 though, to be totally honest.[Close]

Hi. I'm new to IB as well as IBSurvival, so I apologise for any mistakes I make. I recently shifted to an IB school, and I found out that I have to ask a girl to the prom. Its a few months away, but other guys have already started working on it. I have a crush on this really cute girl in my history class. I am a shy guy, and am considered a geek by most people. I seem to be getting mixed signs from this girl, but since I have never had a girlfriend, I could be reading something else. I also think I should mention the fact that my parents are against dating, but I'm not, and I Any Advice? (Girls some advice would really be appreciated, Guys as well)

I suppose the question is do you like to do group work in assignments? Or do you prefer to work on your own? Why? The reason I'm suddenly bringing this up is that this semester (and I suspect for the rest of my time at university too since I cleverly picked 2 majors that both require a lot of group work) I have at least 1 group work assessment task for each of my 4 courses. The most exhausting of course is my marketing assessment since it's on going for 6 weeks and basically there's a part due every other week so we basically have to meet up every week. Trying to arrange schedule for 5 people with very different uni schedules, most of whom work outside uni, to meet every…

And I start a battle with the unbroken wall of my "after-Christmas" resistance, a tough struggle with myself To make it easier I do all those unnecessary things like: checking my pen - if it works (but I'm working on the pc), tiding up the table - even tough I'm sitting on the sofa, looking for a bottle of water - in a case if I suddenly get thirsty, check my phon - maybe I have some messages...and so on....then it's an hour later, in theory "I'm ready" ^^ for the hard work...but in fact I'm far from writing lab, reading my sc…

So I just came up with this fun little game for us IB geeks I don't know if this already exists, but what ever. I will come up with a statement about IB-students, and then the next person will say if they relate or not/agree or disagree, and then come up with a new statement for the next person - and so it goes. So my statement is: "You know you are an IB students when 5 hours of sleep seemed like an amazing night of luxury."

Hey to everyone, I guess that in here almost no one discusses about football (soccer, that is) but since I'm quite fanatic about football, I decided to start a new topic only about football where you can discuss and say what you want about your team (national or championship), players and UEFA, etc. It's intended to have a normal and decent discussion. It's obvious that each person supports something different but just try to have a more objective view rather than subjective. For example, I could say that C. Ronaldo is the best actual player because I don't like Messi and since I love Ronaldo... but that doesn't add anything to this debate. Thus, you should explain why …

I just read comments on Facebook the other day about words that sound strange to foreigners who don't understand Finnish. And I thought that since there's obviously words in every language that make foreigners laugh, we should share them (and maybe learn some new vocabulary at the same time). If you post a word in your language, please provide a translation in English so that people can laugh at it. And if it's in an alphabet that is not Latin, also write how to pronounce it. To start off with: Finnish words Lämpimämpi- It means "warmer". Fillarilla- On a bike. Valtavalta- Great. Bilehile- Word for a shallow person who lives to party and does nothing else with their life.…

Ok, so I've been asked 5 times today to come up with a favorite quote, and I just can't pick ONE! So I was wondering, what are some of your favorites? I have noticed that it is really hard to maintain an healthy social life and IB grades high, most of the people undergoing the second year of IB that have impressive scores do not go out and the only company they have good are our dear books. Now do you find impossible to have a social life and good IB scores? Would you give up one of them? In my opinion is useless to get a 45 & at the same time have "wasted" what can be considered the best years of our lives.. I'm sure most of us looove travelling. So, yeah. Where have you travelled? Personally, despite being the biggest wanderer ever at heart, I've unfortunately never had the opportunity to go to many places in the world. In terms of countries, I've been to China and the United States. Including where I live now (Canada), I've only been to three countries in total... a number extremely short of the one hundred and ninety-something countries there are in the world.
