Talk radio star Rush Limbaugh (my hero) has come up with a brilliant scheme to ruin the democrats by using their own rules against them. The rule he is utilizing is the rule that a vote can be cast for a democratic nominee from either a registered democrat AND a Republican. Rush, who is a supporter of the Republican Party (though not a huge fan of McCaine) has told the populace of republicans, since McCaine has already won, to instead cast their vote to the losing democratic nominee. This action is totally legal and within the boundaries of the new rule. But this keeps the two democrats snipping at each other while McCaine stays above the fray. Democrats are furious …

So it looks like I might need to pull an all-nighter due to a horrible planning and deadline and I sort of came across with this which I thought was interesting and thought I should share. http://scienceblogs.com/developingintellig...affeine_use.php Caffeine is the most widely used stimulant in the world, but few use it to maximal advantage. Get optimally wired with these tips. 1) Consume in small, frequent amounts. 2) Play to your cognitive strengths while wired. 3) Play to caffeine's strengths. 4) Know when to stop - and when to start again. 5) Finding good sources of caffeine Read the whole article in the link posted above

Alternative sources of Energy

The question that I have been thinking about recently is where the world is going to get new sources of energy. What I want to know is, which option do you think is best. There are a lot of choices, and I know that many of the countries that you all live in are already using new energy sources. Discuss what you think the world should do about finding new energy sources. Feel free to come up with your own original ideas, as I encourage creativity .

All right, people. You've got 2 weeks to ask ~Lc~ any question you want. You can ask more than once but you can't ask more than 20 questions in one post and you have to wait until the interviewee has answered those 20 before asking again. Remember, the interviewee reserves the right not to answer a question. Interview closes on 10/03/08, after which no more question can be asked but ~Lc~ can answer any remaining question that is still unanswered. ~Lc~ will also get to choose the nominees for next round's interview. Have fun.

So JP Morgan managed to pick up Bear Sterns for $2 per share compared to their Friday closing of $30. I don't think there are many finance people here, but any comments? Views? I think it's a good thing because the workers at BSC might actually be able to retain the majority of their workforce, instead of going belly up. Edit, apparently JPM is not even paying for the $1.2B headquarters. BSC might just be in really deep shiit then what was previously thought.

Apparently I have to take an admission test to go into the IB program in my new school which will base solely on GCE O Level ( secondary 4 = grade 10 american system ) on the following subjects-----English, Elementary Maths, and one of the Science (I can pick one). The problem is I have no idea what the syllabi are...I have downloaded them but apparently they make absolutely no sense to me =___= like 'what? never heard of such things' I'm curious if there are any websites that similar to ours but focus on GCE O level instead so I can download the past exams and notes in order to aid me in the up-coming test. Out of these four people, who would like to interview for the 2 weeks period of 11/03-25/03? The poll closes on 11/3, after which, depending on poll results, I will make another thread where you can interview the chosen person. I won't vote unless a tie breaker is needed. But others on the poll, feel free to vote for yourself (or others) if you want. Oh, and people on the poll, if for any reason you don't want to be interviewed, please tell me so I can take you off the poll ASAP. But really, this is meant to be a harmless, fun thing so unless you're really pruddish... ~ Nominations for the next round will be chosen by the "winner" of this poll.

I wanted to know who has the Motorola W385. I was considering getting it, but I heard that it doesn't play "real" ringtones (as in mp3 format). However, I was on my school bus today, and I saw a kid playing some song from his W385. So I'm confused... Could somebody tell me if it' possible to transfer files (through Bluetooth) and apply them as ringtones? Or what's the deal? Thanks!

ManHunt 2, sequel to Man Hunt (duh.) Has been released (depending on where you live). What thinks ye? It's a super super super, i mean like MEGA super controversial series. If you don't know the game(s), you wake up in a facility where people are trying to kill for for there own motives (professional obligation, money, just for the heck of it). You, of course, get to kill the killers in a colourful variety of ways, using all sorts of weapons and brutal murdering techniques. Some people are principally opposed to the concept, some people don't mind or don't care. What do you think. I personally am (twisted) looking forward to trying the game. I'm not a generally violent …

Ok Mandarin speakers, I need a huge huge huge favour. Would one of you be willing to help me translate something from English to Mandarin? It's a short letter (1 A4 page English typed at the most, probably not even that) and I'll need it before 1/3. I'll give you the English version (should be done tomorrow at the latest) and all you have to do is translate and type it in Mandarin for me in a Word document. If you could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. Spoiler - Click me! I have a back up plan if no one responds to this but I'd rather not use it [Close]

I'm trying to prepare for a German lieder piece by Brahms, and I'm having a bit of trouble with the pronunciation. Is there anybody who might be able to help? The text is by H. Lingg: Immer leiser wird mein Schlummer, Nur wie Schleier liegt mein Kummer Zitternd über mir.

Ok I know I can't be the only one who celebrates the Lunar New Year around here. It is aka the Chinese New Year but I deteste that term...I mean, it's not just the Chinese that celebrate it, you know. Anyway, according to the countdown at my Vietnamese forum it's 11 days till the Lunar New Year and we've just changed to a bright red skin and it's putting me in a rather giddy mood (thus being awake at 4am - haven't slept yet). So who does actually celebrate it and what do you do? Somehow I don't think I'll be getting much money this year....pains of growing up.

I learned how to solve one last year in about 2 days, and it became really popular at my school. Once, you learn how to solve it, it becomes addicting. I was just wondering if anybody on this forum knows how to solve one.lol

I've managed to find some spare time in my normally hectic schedule and decided to read the news. I found several topics especially surprising and shocking. One being the assassination of Benazir Bhutto: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/12/2...utto/index.html and this other article which is very worrying (not for the faint of heart): http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/01/03...ence/index.html Seems like the world's in a lot of chaos right now. Have you been following the news lately? Are there any which have caught your eye? Is it good news or bad news or funny news? How do you feel?

This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. So one thing that cheered me up today was the fact that today I bought this year's christmas cards! Now generally, I don't celebrate Christmas. I'm not even a christian but I still send out christmas cards because most of my friends celebrate it and it's a nice gesture and rather fun. From the past three years, I've been doing yearly card exchanges with 10-15 people around the world and it's so fun because I know they appriciate getting one day a card in their box and I certainly light up when I get one. I always buy cards from charity. Usually it is Unicef because they have so pretty cards and I love the organisation itself but this year there was such a vast variety o…
