My friend and I are having a grand ole discussion at the moment about what our resolutions are... and how we plan on making sure we go through with them. So what are yours? And how do you plan on making sure you don't break them?

All right, people. You've got 2 weeks to ask Deus any question you want. You can ask more than once but you can't ask more than 20 questions in one post and you have to wait until the interviewee has answered those 20 before asking again. Remember, the interviewee reserves the right not to answer a question. Interview closes on 2/2/08, after which no more question can be asked but Deus can answer any remaining question that is still unanswered. Deus will also get to choose the nominees for next round's interview. Have fun. PS: I messed up the dates a bit...thought today was the 20th, but Deus would win anyway so meh.

Ok guys, vote again. Out of these four people, who would like to interview for the 2 weeks period of 5/2/08 - 18/2/08? The poll closes on 4/2, after which, depending on poll results, I will make another thread where you can interview the chosen person. I won't vote unless a tie breaker is needed. But others on the poll, feel free to vote for yourself (or others) if you want. Oh, and people on the poll, if for any reason you don't want to be interviewed, please tell me so I can take you off the poll ASAP. But really, this is meant to be a harmless, fun thing so unless you're really pruddish... ~ Nominations for the next round will be chosen by the "winner" of th…

I learned how to solve one last year in about 2 days, and it became really popular at my school. Everywhere, you would see one, and later teachers began confiscating them. haha Well, right now, I've been to busy (with IB) that I don't do it as often as I did before. Once, you learn how to solve it, it becomes addicting. I was just wondering if anybody on this forum knows how to solve one.lol

What was your best present of 2007? I would have to say that my best present was a new laptop. Conversely, what was your worst present of 2007? For me it was a Chocolate Orange, I hate those two combinations!

I've managed to find some spare time in my normally hectic schedule and decided to read the news. I found several topics especially surprising and shocking. One being the assassination of Benazir Bhutto: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/12/2...utto/index.html and this other article which is very worrying (not for the faint of heart): http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/01/03...ence/index.html Seems like the world's in a lot of chaos right now. Have you been following the news lately? Are there any which have caught your eye? Is it good news or bad news or funny news? How do you feel?

"Merideth Grey: A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We'…

So one thing that cheered me up today was the fact that today I bought this year's christmas cards! Now generally, I don't celebrate Christmas. I'm not even a christian but I still send out christmas cards because most of my friends celebrate it and it's a nice gesture and rather fun. From the past three years, I've been doing yearly card exchanges with 10-15 people around the world and it's so fun because I know they appriciate getting one day a card in their box and I certainly light up when I get one. I always buy cards from charity. Usually it is Unicef because they have so pretty cards and I love the organisation itself but this year there was such a vast variety o…

Nice meeting y'all =P Which workshops did u guys go to? How did u guys like it? I went to Brazillian Capoeira first.. (ya, I'm terribly sore atm LoL). Was pretty fun -- been a few years since I did martial arts so it was a nice refresher hehe Then I went to flaminco... I realized all of a sudden how uncoordinated I am after that workshop ahahha And then I did something of Java. The person who ran the work shop amused me (he was...eccentric).. other than that, I found it a lil dull I love the concert thing at the end though.. AMAZING.. my friend and I started the congo line, which kinda turned into a mosh pit at the front caus of traffic congestions lolol.. My IBC …

I just got this question in my macroeconomics exam this morning: If Jane married her gardener, Bob, then: a) GDP would increase and welfare would stay the same b ) GDP would increase and welfare would increase c) GDP would stay the same and welfare would increase d) Nothing would happen e) None of the above EVERYONE I spoke to afterwards thought that was a stupid question. I looked at it and was thinking err - what? It just seems so much like a weird, random question that has little to do with economics unless I'm missing something huge here. I mean, they were on this stride about monetary and fiscal policies then there is this. I chose e. But it's still a w…

Basically, I really want to be able to allow more people to have access to the notes, but in order for that to happen, I would need to spend a tiny bit more on server costs. Basically, I am asking if people would be willing to spend £3 or perhaps less in order to get VIP access (all downloads, etc). This would be a onetime payment that would allow you to be VIP forever. What do you think?

I was going to post this in About but it'll probably get more attention here. I got this idea from another one of my forums, where I'm suffering this fate right now... ( ) An Interview forum! :innocent: Purpose: to get to know members of the forum better. How it works: Each month (or two weeks), we pick out (by a poll, from a choice of maybe 4 or 5 people) someone from the forum to be interviewee. For a set amount of time (a month or two weeks) that person is going to be interviewed. Everyone else on the forum can ask the interviewee any random question they want, for the simple purpose of getting to know that person better. At the end of the period, the intervi…

In case you missed the topic and have no idea what this is about...here's the original topic where I proposed this idea. Nomination results from this thread: HMS 3 Dooga 1 aqibal 2 Bio 4 Bandev 1 Laura (sorry, still can't spell your user name from memory ) 1 Shiva 1 Lc 1 Caitlin 1 Winter 1 Since aside from me, Bio and aqibal there was a tie, I chose the 4th person. So, anyway, it's simple. Out of these four people, who would like to interview for the 2 weeks period of 8/12 to 22/12? The poll closes in 1 week, after which, depending on poll results, I will make another thread where you can interview the chosen person. I won't vote unless a tie breaker i…

Well, it has spread like wild-fire through my school, I'm not sure if it's international but I noticed it a lot at local debate tournaments. So, this happening at any of your schools, too? I picked it up by watching a girl in Calc, if you're having trouble the secret is to start extremely slow with mechanical pencils, they're easier to catch for some reason.

Six die from brain-eating amoeba in lakes Sat Sep 29, 12:59 AM ET PHOENIX - It sounds like science fiction but it's true: A killer amoeba living in lakes enters the body through the nose and attacks the brain where it feeds until you die. Even though encounters with the microscopic bug are extraordinarily rare, it's killed six boys and young men this year. The spike in cases has health officials concerned, and they are predicting more cases in the future. "This is definitely something we need to track," said Michael Beach, a specialist in recreational waterborne illnesses for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "This is a heat-loving amoeba. As water temperatu…

By JACQUES STEINBERG Published: October 18, 2007 Stephen Colbert — who announced plans to run for the presidency, though only in South Carolina, on his Comedy Central show Tuesday night — is serious enough about the stunt that his staff reached out to the state’s Democratic and Republican committees in advance of his declaration. Joe Werner, executive director of the South Carolina Democratic Party, said that a representative for Mr. Colbert, who was raised in Charleston, called three weeks ago asking about filing dates and other requirements. Mr. Werner added, “From what I understand, he does have credible people down here, working to have him placed on the ballot.” …
