Hey guys, can someone help me improve my research question for biology? I hope my question gives you a good grip on what my IA is about What effect does picking up bacteria, on a shoe, from different comparable environments (concrete, grass, sand, dirt, outside air) have on the growth in the number of microbial colonies in room temperature? (25 °C)

Hiii everyone I need urgent help, Currently I am at the end of grade 11 and realized that a path that I want to take in the near future is medicine as I am really interested in the whole field especially taking it into dermatology or esthetic medicine. Unfortunately the problem is that I don’t take Chemistry (I am thinking of mostly applying in Europe)my current subjects are: HL bio, visual arts and history and my SL are: English A, self taught and maths AP. I was looking at foundation courses but I found only three very competitive Uk unis that offer it for non British EU students. I don’t think it’s a very smart idea to rely on this and so I am becoming very desper…

So I dropped out of IB about two weeks ago and now I feel really unsure because when I dropped out I was really unmotivated and disliked IB but now that I’m past that I feel like I want to stay in IB. I pid the first instalment fee and it’s already been refunded and I’ve already picked my courses for the other school I’m transferring to. I’m in second year pre-IB and I plan on going into Waterloo Mechanical Engineering Co-Op. I originally wanted to drop out but now I feel unconfident about making it into Waterloo without IB. Should I go back and try and re-enroll I only recently dropped out? I don’t know what to do.

Hi! If anyone can answer this question for me, it would be GREATLY appreciated (I'm a little stressed here). I graduated with my IB diploma in May 2019, but I would like to retake a couple exams in order to improve my overall score (and hopefully get into the program I want). Due to some personal reasons, I won't be able to take any retake exams until May 2021. Is this too late? I read that IB candidates have "a maximum of three exam sessions in which to obtain the diploma". I am a little confused by this. Does this mean I have a maximum of 3 times I can retake the exam? Or does it mean that I have the time span of three exam sessions after my original exam to do a r…

Hello all. :)) I'm at the point in the school year where I need to pick my topic for my extended essay, and I'm having a lot of trouble. I want to write about both The Stranger by Albert Camus and Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I know these 2 books are probably way over used in IB and I am willing to read something else, but for right now this is what I have (I'm also considering doing The Collector). As for a topic, I don't know if I want to explore possibly the use of perspective and compare the thought processes of the main characters in both books, but I don't know how to word it or if that's even a strong topic. Any advice/help is appreciated :))

I started IB in Sept 2019 and my exams are in May 2021. I chose HL: English, Psychology, Latin and SL: Mandarin, Biology, Maths. The problem is... I'm really struggling in Mandarin, I did ok at IGCSE (I got a 7/A) but now I'm finding it really difficult to learn and remember the tons of vocab and the prospect of doing a speaking exam really freaks me out. Being in the lessons make me so anxious, and when I get home I know I need to do practise and learn the vocab but I can't seem to muster the motivation to do any of it. However, recently I found out that SL Chemistry is at the same time. I think I didn't do too badly at IGCSE (I got a 6/high B) so I spoke to so…

Hello everyone ! I am an IB student graduation 2021 ( EU citizen ). I was interested to study medicine in the UK for the past 3 years, but since Brexit is happening and the fees are rising even more than before I decided to step back. I still wanted an English speaking country so I chose Ireland which has fees at around 4,000$ annually. My question is now is here anyone who tried to apply to med schools in Dublin, Cork etc.? Maybe give some tips on deciding a uni, or best accommodation, experience etc. I would be forever thankful !

Hi everyone First post here. I am 17 and in my junior year of IB. I just completed the first semester exams and did absolutely rubbish. I created around 20 pages of revision by hand and said to myself I would study more for this exam than any other. Here are my awful results. Economics: 3 (yikes!) English: 4 (close to a 5) ESS: 4 (very close to a 5) French: 6 Maths: 5 I take economics, English, and visual arts for my HL. I expect visual arts to get a 6 or 7, but I need to raise my grades in English from a 4 to a 6 and in economics from a 3 to at least a 5. I have no clue how I'm gonna do that in time for my predicte…

Hello, My school had a scheduling mishap in the Beginning of the year (my junior year) and scheduled me for IB art and IB psychology with no science credit. I was just informed of my lack of science credit (I was told psych would count for my science credit originally) so my counselor is redoing my schedule for senior year. Hey guys! my chem IA is due tomorrow and I still need to complete my conclusion and evaluation. The last two points of my calculated data seem to be outliers and cause my trend line to have an r^2 value of 0. Without these last two points i have a linear relationship. Where do I address why these are outliers? So I take them out?

Hey! I'm heading to high school in the fall, (grade 9 now, going to 10.) I would have the option of doing a pre-IB year then my two DP IB years. But, I've heard endless stories about how hard IB is. So basically I'm only a partial IB student. I've dropped math and physics IB but I'm kinda stuck for chem. My school does chem 20 and 30 IB in the same year so this coming semester (starts in a week) I have chem 30. I just really don't care for IB anymore as I have realized it will not benefit me instead it just gives me more unneeded stress. If I drop to regular now, I have to do the chem 20 final which i'm not ready for and I'll have to do chem 30 next year in grade 12, which I would rather not have to do. So my question is, can I continue with the IB class but just skip the papers at the end (basically just get a 0). Will this effect my regular chem 30 grade in any way…

So today I got my Physics and Maths results of my first IB1 semesters. They weren't too great at all. I got a 3 in Physics HL and a 4 in Maths SL. It's pretty upsetting because I want to study Engineering but I'm not doing well in the subjects needed for it I see all these other people getting 6s and 7s in these subjects and it makes me feel insecure. I didn't do well on the Physics HL paper because the questions were generally tricky for me, and there was a question on the Maths SL paper for which I screwed up and didn't have time to correct because the paper was so lengthy. Please, can I have any advice on how to study for both of these subjects and get higher grades?…

I've started my Math SL IA (finally) after not being able to find a topic for months, whatever I found I either didn't understand, was too simple, or my teacher said there was too little math in it. Currently, I'm working on an IA on the Tower of Hanoi, which happens to also be in an IB sample IA. I'm using the same aim and methods in the sample, but I am planning to cite the sample in my references and use my own words and personal engagement. I told my teacher about the similarity to the sample and she approved my topic, but I'm worried I'm plagiarising and will be penalised for it. Is this plagiarism or can I just continue with what I'm doing?

I struggled way too much with the IB and ‘finished’ with 19 points. Yay. Ive been trying to redo exams but its too difficult and its not looking too bright for me. I got a 2 in math and a 3 on 4 subjects and 5 in English. Anyone with any tips as to what to try next and how to recover/move on from this? Im planning on doing my last take on the math exam in the may 2020 exam sessions. I really want to get into a university though but it doesn’t seem possible at this point.

I recently received my IB marks a few days ago and I'm not really happy with it at all ( like at all ). My total score is 25 & I missed the upper boundary grade by 1 point in 3 different subjects & both the EE & TOK, meaning that I could have achieved a higher mark. I failed to get into my course by 3 points & am thinking of two options: 1. apply to a different course for now and then transferring to my original course throughout the semester 2. remark some of the subjects where I'm off by 1 point from the upper boundary grade At this point, I don't really know what to do but go with option 1, but I'm afraid my offer for my original co…

Have a question you've always wanted to know the answer to, but never been able to find the answer because your question is so obscure or you just haven't been looking in the right place? IB-related, to do with sports, food or anything, no matter how random. Hopefully someone can answer it for you, and if even if no one can, we'll join you in contemplating the randomness of life's unanswered mysteries. First question: How do they get football pitches to be marked out in different coloured grass (dark green, light green, dark green, etc.)? Do they cut the grass in different directions? Do they comb the grass? Do they grow different grass species in different parts? Thi…

New person here. So far most of my exhibition pieces are sculptural and I need to do stuff in at least 2 art making forms. To get around this I made a work involving using braille letters to form an image. If I only used raised dots on blank paper would it be considered 2d or 3d? It's essentially text art and is supposed to be hung on a wall, but it doesn't seem to fall under anything on the 2d section of the table (graphics, maybe?) Wanna hear your input.

I want to switch from Spanish SL to chinese AB intio but its almost been a year. My ib coordinator says that I cannot switch because I am heritage of china although I cannot speak, read or write chinese??? Also she says that there needs to be 150 hours of teaching meet before the end of the year. To my knowledge I heard you can take an online course on top of the course at school to fulfil the 150 teaching hours. I don't see why I cannot take AB Initio chinese. Could someone please clarify about the heritage thing thanks.

So for me IB sucks and it just makes me feel retarded, but my parents are making me do it. Does it really matter where I'm headed, because my parents think I'm going to college right after High School, but in reality I'm going to the Marines, specifically to be in infantry, straight out of High School. So does it really matter if I'm in IB?

So I put down SL history but am also considering psychology SL instead. I am hoping to get into Med at uni after graduation, so just wondering if psychology would be more beneficial. I did ‘social psychology’ (sociology and psychology) in year 10 for a semester and found it incredibly bland, so I’m unsure as to whether I would enjoy it, however, I’m also concerned regarding history as I’m more interested in ancient history and my school only does the 20th century topics. Other Subjects: HL Literature, SL German, SL mathematics (analysis and approaches), HL Chemistry, HL Biology.

I am currently a student taking IB and a subject I have been quite struggling with is SL Spanish. I have taken Spanish for 3 years prior but I still have been finding it very difficult to keep up with classmates and do well in tests. I was wondering if it was possible to move down to AB Initio Spanish even though I have prior experience in that language. I have asked my IB coordinater and she said no. Is there any where I can find the offical regulations to this. Also would like to know where she gets this information from because she would not tell me where it says. Thanks
