So my two options for the Personal Project are: 1. Roles of Women: impact and underestimation (do females have the ability to make a change on national level?) and 2. A social protest (How we should look < How we choose to look) with a focus on media influence and teenage insecurity. I like both the ideas however I have NO idea how to make an actual product out of either of them I was thinking of making a video out of the first option but that sounds so boring and for the second option I have absolutely no idea what kind of product I would make out of it :/ Anyways thanks in advance guys!!!

It's exactly what it sounds like. I left middle school with a 100% average and I didn't expect any significant changes to that in high school. Now I'm literally failing! I'm still going strong with Math and Science, with an 80%ish average, but still cannot reach my former scores. English is also alright. My second language is a whole other story. I maintained perfect scores throughout the ENTIRE year in middle school- with NO deviation whatsoever- and today I received a 62% mark!! What shall I do to cope with this transition? I'm spending all of my after school hours doing homework and this is becoming unbearable! And please don't urge me to drop out- I'm not goin…

Hi, I know I'm thinking about this too early but I've been thinking a lot about subject choices. I want to go to college in the United States and I'm likely going to go for archaeology. I'm wondering what subject combo would best suit my needs or if US colleges have any sort of recommendations on these things. I'm also willing to take 4 HLs. I've basically already committed to HL Math, so there's no backing out there. My question is: will I be okay if I take SL English Lit? (lit is not exactly a pleasant walk in the park for me and I'd rather not take it at hl if I don't have to.) And since my school doesn't offer anthropology, I plan to take HL history. Is this a…

Hi, In a few days I will have to tell my coordinator the subjects I have chosen, but I have a problem. I would like to study economics in England and I don't know if English A HL (lang ant lit) is worth taking. I like reading, but I don't know if I could get a 7 in that course. In English B HL I could squeeze a 7. Do unis look at wether you have chosen English A HL or English B HL? P.S. I was thinking about getting English A lang and lit HL Economics HL Math HL French B SL CS SL Lithuanian (mothers tongue) SL P.S.S Could i get a bilingular (or how is it called) diploma with English B HL? Would really love the help:)

Hey there everyone! I hope everyone is doing well, especially with the beginning of the school years, whether they are Pre-IB, DP1 or 2. I have just started the Pre-IB program and we were slightly informed about the Personal Project. It turns out that our products have to be presented at around December the 15th. I have chosen to make a simple ds homebrew game using the "DS Game Maker" software. I will be working on the level design, story line, and any other related acts myself. The game maker will simply be the ground which I build my game upon. My question is, does this seem like a good personal projects? It really is a project I'm interested in, and if it's d…

Hello. Please excuse any huge flaws with the post location and alike, as this is my very first post on these forums I was under the impression that entrance exams was a requirement, but after I applied I got an acceptance letter, and no other information. Therefore I can only assume that the exams aren't a requirement, but something that most schools just have anyways?

Hi, would anyone be able to give me any advice regarding the difficulty of my chosen HL subjects? I'm going into the IB program next year and our subject choices are due in soon. I know two of my SL subjects are going to be Japanese and Math, but I'm not sure what my third SL/HL subject could be. My other four subjects are English, Psychology, Chemistry and Biology, so I can take one of those at SL. My plan was to do HL English, Psychology and Chemistry, but I've been talking to one of the Year 11 IB students, who's informed that I've chosen incredibly difficult subjects for my HL. Psychology and English are especially difficult at high level apparently, and he's recommen…

Good evening! I'm going into the Pre-IB after the summer; August 18 to be a bit more specific. I'm really excited and I obviously want to do as well as possible, thus causing me to wonder if there's anything I could prepare for. You might suggest me to relax, enjoy the summer and not prepare for the preparation, but I don't have much else to do, really. I figured mathematics might be a subject I'd be able to study a bit on my own, considering all the youtube guides out there. I thought about ordering the textbook I eventually will use when I start the Pre-IB, but I'm unsure which one to order. Guidance here is much appreciated.

Hello everyone! I am writing the entrance test for the pre-ib program at Bayview SS this month! I got all E's and a 93% average on my grade 7 report card. I have a good recommendation as well. I am really worried for the exam itself. I am very good at the language arts and math, however I do not go to a French immersion school, and I feel that I do not know too many enriched words. Anyone who has taken the test....what was the French component like? What type of questions? What do I need to focus on? Can you recommend any study sources? What was the hardest part of the test for you? What should I was out for? Any other tips? Sorry that I have so many questions but it …

I am an incoming Junior meaning that I will be officially starting my IB Program soon. Although I already chose my IB subjects, I am having second thoughts about it. These are the subjects that I chose: English A SL Japanese A HL Math SL Chemistry HL Biology HL History HL However, I talked over some things with my parents and we are thinking that I might convert to this: English A SL Japanese A SL Math SL Chemistry HL Biology HL Buisness HL As you may have realised by now, I must take HL for Chemistry and Biology because I am interested in the medical field and I aspire to become a doctor. But I am starting to contemplate whether if I should take Japanese A HL since…

Hi! I am sorry if this is a very stupid question, but I was thinking about my IB subjects. My idea was: English A (HL) Swedish A (SL) Psychology (HL) Physics (HL) Mathematics (SL) Biology (SL) My school does not offer the arts, that is why I chose biology as my sixth subject. Anyhow, is this a good idea? Or is it better to choose economics instead of psychology? Thank you for your replies!

Okay, so in the next month, we have to hand in our IB topic selections and currently I'm deliberating whether to take Math SL or HL. I'm currently in the Additional Mathematics for IGCSE, but not scoring A and A+. I assumed because I'm taking Additional I would have to take HL, so I'm asking whether or not it would be worth taking HL as opposed to SL.

Well hello amigos, We got informed a couple of days ago that our subject choices have to be in my tomorrow midnight. I know what I want to take but at the same time I am freaking out on HL. My plans for DP: English A Lang&lit HL (Challenging) Swedish A Lang&lit SL (Native speaker) Economics HL Psychology HL Math HL (Will probably drop down after awhile) Biology SL Art SL This leaves me with 7 subjects and 4 HLs. The reason to 4 HLs are that at my school we have to take 4 HL if we take Math HL. For the Swedish part, if I sadly have to study in Sweden after DP I have to have Swe A to be able to apply for Swedish Uni (Sweden........) Any advice, ideas and…

So basically I'm going to have to choose my IB subjects in two weeks and while I have a general idea, I'm not certain. Here's the basic premise of what I'm going for: English Lit HL (certain) Psychology HL (certain) History HL French SL (certain) Math Studies SL (certain) Biology/Physics SL I'm 100% certain that I'll be taking English and Psychology as my first two HL's given that they are my two best and my two favorite subjects. I was thinking of also taking Art HL but I am in no way talented enough for that, though I am really good at History as well. The first of my two main problems arises in the fact that I've been told that the combination of English, Psycholog…

Hello folks. Right now I'm a freshman in high school currently taking the standard math class for 9th graders. Only one problem: I'm bored as heck in that class right now, and I also want to take HL math. I know, I know: it's supposedly hell disguised as numbers but I'm not too concerned about that. Before I go on, to get a good idea of how this works here: you take the freshman and sophomore math classes, then go on to Math SL. Or you can take the sophomore class in 9th grade, first year SL in 10th, then HL in 11th and 12th. You cannot go straight from the sophomore class to HL. I don't know why. What I'm trying to figure out is if I should go for it and test out of…

So I'm currently in my last year of MYP and we have been given the whole IB presentation today and all. So I've been already thinking of what I want to do. Hello! So i've been thinking a lot lately what i'm going to do for my IB, these to are my "options": Maths HL Physics HL Chemistry (HL/SL) Economics (HL/SL) English SL German SL So as you can see my problem is whether to choose HL chemistry or HL economics.. Usually I would go with Chemistry but since i've heard that is a very hard course and the college I want to go to only requires HL Physics and Maths I don't want to overload myself and but instead maybe get a better overall score with HL economics since i've heard that is one of the easier HL courses.. but then i'm also more interested in chemistry.. Please help me hahah, thank you so much!

Hi.. I am taking up HL Eco,History and English. SL Maths,Business and French Ab. I intend to study law in UK and i believe that my subjects are an appropriate choice. However my family feels that since undergrad law does not require any specific subjects, I should be studying Physics and Chemistry because they are" challenging" and will make me" work hard".they feel i am choosing the easy way.Are they right? I am fond of the subjects Ihave chosen....but my family's opinion has started me thinking.will these subjects make me easy going and laidback?I intend to sweat for a score of atleast 40. please advise....

Hello, I'm in the last few weeks of my freshman year of high school, which means that in a year and a few months I will be a full IB student! Do all schools go through an application process which determines a student's acceptance into their school's IB program? At my high school (United States) all potential IB applicants submit an anonymous application which goes through two rounds of review by three teachers. If the application passes, students are invited to interview and are then accepted into the program based off the success of the interview. I recently went though the application process and was rejected during the anonymous review process due to my most recent quarter and midterm grades which slumped dramatically. I have one horrendous quarter grade in my math course, and three bad midterm grades i…

Hey! So I've been experiencing a sense of panic that is steadily rising as August approaches, when I start the Diploma Program. I'll tell you why, and maybe you can help me calm down .. So this time last year I was in 8th grade in Florida. I was getting ready to go in to Pre IB at a high school there. One of the requirements were Algebra 1, so naturally, that's what I was doing. I had shadowed the IB several times and it seemed very difficult. I like a challenge, so I was excited. That's about the time I found out we were moving to Sweden. Yeah. So I started in Pre IB here in Sweden in August, instead of in Florida. Whereas there are two years of pre in Florida, there is…

It appeared weird to me that some schools do pre IB programs since there is no such thing are my high school, but then again this is an international community. In my school unless you have serious credit deficiencies, attendance issues, etc. you are pretty much in. Though something to consider, probably only the serious and motivated people apply to it, or at least that's what I have seen. There are approximately 4000 students at my school but only 60ish for each IB year are in the program. The huge array of AP classes offered here makes up for the rest not wanting IB since you can pick and choose. Well anyway my classes this year: AP Chem AP World History AP Calculus…

Last marking period (MP3), I had 3 A's 3 B's and one F in math. My math teacher first off is a terrible teacher and just gives us textbook work then a test. So like every other marking period I aced all the textbook work, but when the test came around I had little time, and half the material was not taught or was different and difficult. I got a 43 on one test, and a 64 on the other. This gave me a 63.4 in the class and I failed it. Can I be kicked out for failing one class.
