Hello all, I'm in the process of selecting my IB courses for the next 2 years. I'll be completing the full IB at an established IB school so I have quite a few options. I'm interested in studying law or a social science at a UK university such as Oxford, or King's College. I think I have narrowed down my IB choices to the following: English A Literature HL History HL Economics/Business Management HL ESS SL (I know this is a 'soft' subject but I'm not a great science student!) Math SL Spanish A Literature/French A Lang&Lit SL What do you think about this subject combo? Do you think it's too hard, too easy? Also, do…

Hello all, I am currently in MYP 4. I have also been thinking about what subjects I want to eventually HL and SL in. At the moment, I am thinking: HL English (required by my school) HL Spanish SL History SL Biology HL Math (I've heard this is meant for people who definitely want to go into the STEM field. I'm not sure if that's me yet, but I enjoy math and I was recommended to take HL Pre-Calculus next year, as opposed to SL Pre-Calculus. Neither of these prepares for an IB exam, but instead are in preparation for HL Math or SL Math, respectively). I haven't decided whether I want to HL or SL in music yet, but I will be doing music for m…

Hi, I'm doing IGCSE at the moment, and it is a few days away from finalising my IB choices for Year 12 and 13. At first, I was thinking of choosing HL: Physics/Economics/Math SL: Eng A Lang and Lit/ Mandarin B/ Chemistry However, I am having some trouble deciding my major. Currently, I want to study Mathematics in university, but I'm not certain that my mind won't change in 2 years. I am stuck between these two sets of IB subject choices: 1) HL: Physics/ Economics/ Math SL: Eng A Lang and Lit/ Mandarin B/ Chemistry 2) HL: Physics/ Chemistry/ Math SL: Eng A Lang and Lit/ Mandarin B/ Economics I wanted to leave open the possibility of eng…

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to ask, does anyone have any MYP E-Assessment from May 2016 for grade 10? or any mark scheme/specimen or a bunch of questions of any exam or what so ever would be really helpful. I am willing to practice on the command terms of these types of questions that may help me in preparing for my E-Assessments in may 2017. Thank you in advance!

Hi! I am currently in the PRE-IB program and I need help with my choices that are supposed to be done next week. The courses I do want to study are: Psychology, HL Chemistry, HL Biology, HL Mathemathics, SL Swedish A Literature, SL ??? Here is the problem: I am not sure whether I should pick English B as a fourth HL subject (will be easier to get a 7) or, if I should pick English A Language & Literature SL. The thing is, that a lot of universites (medicine) do not really care if I have English A or B, because I will still have to take the TOEFL - test. I am not planning on studying any literature abroad, so it's not real…

Hey everyone, this is my personal project that I've been working on during the last few months. As you know, this is an obligatory project that you must complete to get an IB diploma. The point of this project is to be able to make something that you like. I could've chosen to do anything but I chose to make a video on science, more specifically the field of quantum and particle physics. If you have 10 minutes laying around, please give this video a watch and tell me what you think. Thank you so much and enjoy. Please let me know what you think of the content as well, all constructive criticism is appreciated! A grade on 10 would be perfect as well. Thanks again! …

So I was recently accepted into the IB program at Turner Fenton SS (Canada, Ontario) and since my school board uses MyBlueprint for their students' course selections, I'm forced to submit my courses using it. But Turner Fenton still hasn't put me in their system and my courses for my mainstream high school are still submitted and MyBlueprint still thinks I'm registered at my mainstream high school. This isn't a problem as an email I received from the IB school said to wait at least 24-48 hours after accepting the offer (I accepted around 8PM 2 days ago) before you will be allowed to change your school and view your courses. They haven't set any deadlines for course select…

So I applied for the Pre-IB program and personally think it's a good program for me. The school that I'm applying to (Turner Fenton SS in Ontario) does not have an entrance exam. All you have to do is submit your Grade 7 final report card results, your Grade 8 progress report card, and answer 2 questions.1. Choose one IB learning profile characteristic that best describes you.Explain why. 2. How are you going to make the world a better place? (not exact question) I believe that my responses were one of the best paragraphs I wrote in my life, so I'm not worried about them. I mentioned that I recently came in second place in my provincial spelling bee, and hopefully, that'll…

Hello, I am new in this community and I soon will be entering the DP. I am a Pre-IB student currently taking Biology, however I am considering switching from Biology to Physics, as I will likely be taking Physics SL next year in IB1, as many university design and architecture courses require Physics SL and Math SL from IB applicants. Is it better to switch now and take Physics for the final semester, or study Physics over the summer to be prepared for Physics in the IB? Is Physics less heavy on memorization and more on applying concepts directly compared to Biology? P.S, what sort of websites/textbooks are recommended for Physics, as i will likely also self-study along with taking Physics this year in order to be better prepared…

I'm a sophomore planning out my schedule next year. I've been in the pre-IB program for 9th grade and currently 10th grade, taking Bio the first year and currently Chem. I really don't know what to do for my career yet, but I've been thinking of being a dietitian... I think I struggled more with Bio than Chem? (like memorization vs calculation - I've done pretty well with the stoichiometry stuff this year compared to the enzymes and body process last year). With this career in mind, which one would be the best option? Thank you!

I recently got accepted into 2 IB schools in my region, one in the regular school board and one in the catholic school board. This year, our board announced that there would be 4 new schools to the 1 (I am in the York Region District School Board) already in place. Is it ok to go to a school which is starting it's IB program next year and is still training teachers? I can't say it is a too stellar school outside of the IB program. I would love to go to the school in the Catholic School board, but it is too far for my parents to drive and is a 1 hr and 15 min bus ride.

I want to know if i can be barred from entering full IIB because of this, because I know the circumstances will be different and i will pass next year. So am i completely screwed? thanks.

In our county, they only offer IB-MYP. Only 60 some 5th graders tried out and most got in. We don't get to choose any of our classes, we have every class every day, we have 2 2 inch binders plus some folders to carry to every class, we walk in lines, and the programme is not challenging other than a few assignments. Everyone else on this forum is taking Mandarin or Chinese or something but they only offer Spanish. I would love to take the IB diploma programme when I'm older but we don't offer it. I have never heard of exams, extended essays, or anything of that sort before. We have 2 governor's schools that I'm considering going to instead of finishing IB MYP. Please help…

So as I'm doing Pre-IB/MYP at the moment, my school is making us choose our subjects relatively early. So far I've got HL Lang Lit, HL Psychology, HL Biology, SL Chinese B/French Ab Initio, SL History, SL Mathematical Studies I was just wondering if this was a good combination of subjects. I want to pursue a degree in Psychology when I'm older, I will be going to the UK from HK. So I'm most likely going to study for a MA (Master of Arts, but can also be seen as a Bachelor of Arts/Humanities as I'll most likely study in Scotland). So are these subject choices suitable?

Hello, I'm in MYP 4 and this is my first year in IB programme. I never learned French before and started learning French this year. But my teacher isn't good and the class is more appropriate for advanced students. I don't feel that I'm learning anything. Next year, I will move to another school. They provide both French and Spanish. My parents advised me to take Spanish next year because it is used in more countries and is easier to pronounce. (I find it very difficult to pronounce French properly) The school I'm going next year doesn't provide classes for students who begin Spanish in MYP 5. So, I have two choices. First, I can start learning Spanish in grade 11 as lang…

Hello, nice to meet you; I'm very new here, so please forgive me if I'm a little weird/rough around the edges lol. However, the main thing is that right now I'm quite conflicted. I am a Canadian Grade 8 student who wants to get into the IB Program at my nearest IB High School. My Grade 7 report card is all Es and an overall average of 90%. I'm not really sure if it's enough, because I've heard of kids with 97% averages and stuff like that, and I'm really worried! Also, for the French component of the test, what am I supposed to study for? I'm a little scared lol <-- me when deciding that i give up on life I'M STILL GOING TO DO MY BEST. EVEN THOUGH MY BEST MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST BEST THERE IS. lol now im just confusing myself.

New to this forum, so I hope starting threads like this isn't too much of a faux pas to commit. What I would like to hear is just about anything you wish you would've known before your first year. HL: English Literature Chemistry Math SL: French B Environmental Systems Computer Science I would be open to changing my Group 2 subject (currently ESS).
