Would the Bilingual IB Diploma be much of an advantage in Top University Admissions? I'm moving to a new school with IB as their curriculum so I'm rather unfamiliar with this. I'm half French so I know how to use French for daily conversations. I would be taking English Lang Lit and the other language being either Spanish or French. My teacher is yet to decide if I'm capable of French A. If I choose Spanish, I'd have to take it as Spanish Ab Initio. I want to study a new language as I'm somewhat familiar with French, thus I wanted to choose Spanish (Ab Initio), but the Bilingual Diploma sounds intriguing if I manage to do French A. However, I'm tak…

I tried to study to get the high scores from the d1 mock (my target was 36 / 42, and now I think I was too optimistic.) because I got 30 or something from the first and second term grades and I thought I definitely have to improve my grades. However, I did huge mistakes on the exam so I'm assuming that I will get lower scores from the d1 mock exam than my past grades. The assumption is here; (I guess the final report from d1 and d2 will be used to assume the predicted grades so I think the d1 mock exam does not directly affect my future grades. ) Japanese A HL 6-7, Maths AI HL 3, Economics HL 3, Business 6, English B 5, Chemistry 5, overall 28-29 / 42 from the …

These are my DP subjects: English A French/Spanish Geography Chemistry Math Computer Science As I would be taking the computer science major in University, I was planning to take CS HL, Chem HL, Math HL, and if possible English HL too. However I really want to be able to attend NUS (National University of Singapore) or ETH Zurich in Switzerland, and thus I'm still a bit confused on how I should select my DP subjects and their levels to satisfy their requirements and further enhance my admission possibility acceptance in the future. Please give me opinions on these subject choices as well as advice as I'm also really confused which ones t…

My teacher has this same question about the marking of Math paper 1 and 2 with correct significant figures. In the marking scheme, it saids "If the level of accuracy is specified in the question, a mark will be allocated for giving the final answer to the required accuracy. When this is not specified in the question, all numerical answers should be given exactly or correctly to three significant figures." Does this mean that I get full credit if I write 1.45378 while the answer key is 1.45(3 Sig), (1.4537893838...) ? Please help.

Hey everyone! I've created this topic earlier to discuss about tutoring in IB. Just putting it out there again as I have successfully graduated the IB programme with 40+ points (exam-route). I got a 7 in Math Analysis and Approaches HL, 7 in Economics HL and 7 in Chemistry SL. I am very passionate about Economics and Math in particular (Chemistry too !) and would be glad to tutor you in any of these 3 areas if you're interested. I can also give you a detailed insight into the new Math syllabus (including Paper 3) and lots of practice to ensure you are adequately prepared for your school exams, mocks, and ultimately, the finals. Also, if you haven't tak…

I heard somewhere that for IB predicted grades, in a school only one child is allowed to get a predicted 7 in a particular subject. Is this true???? Coz this is so unfair. Like there are so many students in my class who deserve a 7, but since only one of us can get it, the other's grades will get messed up.

I used to go to school a south American country then I moved to a new IB school somewhere else in the Caribbean. I did my first year of a be at the school South America and now I am completing the second one at my new school . At my old school they offered Spanish HL and SL with literature and all but, at my new school that is not offered (only language B and AB initio) will IB create problems with my situation or am I ok taking Spanish B ? Spanish is technically my second learned language.

It is such a relief because all of my exams are over now. I have never felt this relieved and content and FREE in my life. Since I have enough time now, I'm going to spend some minutes to write on this forum what I really wanted to write as an advice to some people who COULD be in the same situation that I was in. I am not the best of the best IB student out there, and for some of you, this piece of writing could be really useless and would not even value as a good advice because you could be lucky enough to not be placed in the situation that I was placed in.. so if you think so as you read my writing, feel free to press "back." For some of you, this writing can soun…

I need some urgent guidance regarding my IB subject choices for next year!!! This is what I've entered; English Lit A HL Economics HL History HL Maths SL Environmental systems and societies SL Mandarin ab initio SL However, I still have the opportunity to make changes so I thought I'd ask for some thoughts on them before I finalise. First of all - do they seem optimal for law at Russel Group/Ivy Leauge unis? English Lit, Economics, Maths and Mandarin are more or less definite so I am left with two concerns; I am considering swapping out History HL to Global Politics HL. Mainly because Global Politics appeared very interesting but …

My teacher has given us 4 weeks to do our business IA which a lot of us don't believe is fair because it is worth 25% of our IB grade for this HL class and we are relying on the business we are working with to respond to us quickly and efficiently. It's not fair on the businesses or us. How long would you normally be given for this IA? (how many months?)

Hi everyone, do you guys think it's possible to work a part-time job while doing the IB and regular high-school? I would still need time to practise the piano(+take lessons) and go to jiu-jitsu twice( maybe once) a week. I have always been a straight A/B student without studying much at all( maybe like 3/4 h max for the subjects that require more learing(eg. French). But usually like 1.5h I would pick HL English (as a second language; required at my school), HL Physics and HL Math. SL would be: Chemistry, German literature and Geography. My school has an average IB score of 32 and a passwing rate of 99,4% so it seems like we are managing quite well. …

After the April 20th deadline, does anyone know by when all IAs are marked? Do they have time to do a moderation of IAs between external examiners. I'm just worried about my marks dropping due to its subjective nature of marking.

Hello, I am a Pre-IB student, going into IB course this year and I have few argent questions that I desperately need to know. Here is why. As a middle school students, our school took on IGCSE course and during IGCSE, I was quite confident on my science and math score. So after IGCSE course has finished, I chose HL Math, HL Physics, and HL Chemistry for my HL subject for IB. After I finished choosing and submitting my subject choices, I asked the previous year students about how IB was. When they heard about my subject choices, they said I am totally doom since the subjects are crazy hard. I am kind of in panic now. I am worried about all the work I will have to go t…

Because I am a terrible writer who realizes they should have mentioned something three sentences ago when I handwrite literally anything, I would like to ask if students are allowed to leave spaces in between each line when writing essay-based exams so instead of putting 15 asterisks in my essay, I can just put arrows and write in the empty line if needed. Thank you!

Hello everyone! I am thinking on joining an IB school next year in Portugal and I was wondering if I have to do this “IB10PY” which I assume is 10th Grade before I do the actual IB Diploma Program? I am doing 10th Grade in the national Portuguese system and would not like to repeat it. I also finished the PYP Program and got to Grade 9 of the MYP in an International school before I moved back to my native country of Portugal if that means anything in this situation. I am turning 16 this year and would not like to graduate a year later than all my peers. Can I simply start the IB Diploma Program next year with no hassles? Thank you.

We have TOK formative once every two week and these formatives have direct correlation with our predicted grades. This week, there are both midterm exams and the TOK essay deadline. TOK deadline on Thursday, Exam ends on Friday. The exams also impact our predicted grade for IB. We have argued many times and we asked for an extension (two day extension) so that we can focus on the exam first, however, they disagreed and said they gave us class time. The "class time" they gave to my class was 45min only, and when we have exams we don't have the normal class schedule, which means that there are no TOK class during the week of exams. Can you finish an essay in …

I am going to an IB school next year and have one question; My school offers Language A English, German, French etc. But as Language B only French, English and Spanish. I am fluent in german, quite good in english but just have very less knowledge in French( had it for 4 years but did not study it at all). Now my question is if I should pick English as A, because it is important for universities(??) and French as B. Or German as A and English as B? Would be very thankful for an answer!

There’s the idea of finding the chances of winning depending on whether you’re the first player to start, or the last. I’m a bit stumped, so I’d appreciate any advice.

Hey guys, It's now time for us to choose our IB subjects. I wonder about if I should take psychology SL or chemistry SL. Which is the easiest to get a good grade in? I really want to get high marks from IB because I want to get in my university. I know that both are not that easy, but which one can be easier to get a 6 or a 7 in? We have to decide as soon as possible and I'm still confused about it. I hope that someone who has an exeperince answers me. Thank you so much!

Apologies for the repetitive questions, I'm a bit stressed. I've chosen Psychology for next year because Design's mostly seen as a soft subject for UK unis. I really want to switch thought because Design was also my original choice, I'm just a bit worried about my grades as I'm really not good at memorisation (absolutely terrible). The reason I chose Psych over Design was also because it has a lot of resources online that could maybe help me with the memorisation while I can barely find anything for Design Tech. Would you guys recommend me to stay in Psych or switch?

Hi! It's about time for me where I have to choose my courses for next year, I'm currently a sophomore doing pre-ib. But I'm not sure if I should continue doing chem/bio/physicis at the ib level. This year's science honors was already something that had me hanging my a thread. My grades were barely ever higher than 70% especially on tests.
