  1. Aww that sucks... I actually dunno what I got for mine, but my teacher used to be an senior IB moderator, so I guess his prediction would have been accurate.. (who knows) I guess you could ask for a remark! Maybe they'll reconsider it for you, since it's an external I sent mine for remarking anyway.. Although I'm not expecting much at all, I guess we should give it a go...
  2. Of course I do. That's why it's so wierd that she didn't tell me. Our DPC didn't talk with the teachers - she just looked at our yearly grades in IB1 and our first term grades in IB2 and decided for herself, except for EE (our supervisors told what we're predicting). So I've only idea that it might be somewhere from 32 to 37... and that's quite a wide range Of course I do. That's why it's so wierd that she didn't tell me. That's why I had to wait until results are released to decide whether I would apply to a certain university... I guess you could do the same?? Or just predict your predicted grades (lol that sounds funny). Look at your latest mock results, and that could possibly give you an idea of your predicted grade.
  3. Bella Classical (lol am I the only one? feel like a weirdo) 39 (don't know my predicted, this is my actual grade)
  4. Banned because you are doing the 3 HL subjects which I hate the most.
  5. Actually it is listed as a "soft" subject by some universities, however from what I've heard,(from my friends who did ITGS) it is not an easy subject at all, quite hard to score a 7. Well my advice is that is you are really interested in this subject, you should take it. But don't worry if you decided to take Economics either- it in fact has the highest average score among all group 3 subjects, while it is not considered as a "soft subject" at the same time.
  6. Um, checkers, never knew how to play chess. Have you ever cheated in tests/exams?
  7. Hmmm, it probably wouldnt be worth it honestly. What exactly did you get low marks on, the internals or exams? The component grades were terrible lol. I realized why i got a 5 in math. The examiner put my math IA mark down by 7 points! How unfair is that lol. I mean they usually put it down by one or two marks but not SEVEN! Ahh lol, sucks. There goes the idea of repeating the math exams lol. Poor you.. I heard that a lot of people getting their Maths IAs moderated down for quite a few marks though lol. Not people from my school though, coz the teachers in my school are really harsh on IAs... The highest grade for maths portfolio in my school's like a 17, and most of us just got 14 or 15... fortunately I got lower marks on the exams... I dunno, I guess I'm still gonna try for a remark..just so that I won't regret in the future haha.. For economics the grade boundaries pretty high this year, 78 for a 7 (never been this high!!) I got a 74, which was usually the lowest mark for a 7... SIGH!!! and did you know that you need a 90% for a 7 for maths SL this year??? I was like wth........it has NEVER been so high, and most of the people i know thought that wasn't an easy exam!!!
  8. Just got my component grades today... I realized that I am 4 marks off the next level for both Music and Economics...(Both my HL subjects, 5 for music, 6 for eco, and I really needed a 6 for music... plus that my total score is 39, really wanted a 40) I got 68 for music and i need 72 for a 6, 74 for eco and need a 78 for a 7 (wth... the grade boundary for Eco has never been so high in recent years.. It was usually 74... lucky me..) should I remark?? Is it very unlikely to get 4 marks up? advice please?
  9. Haha yeah but getting a 41 would have brought me a little closer to my medicine dream but ahh well. Goodbye to an easy entry into medicine lol. Although i guess my score is good considering all the times i got sick and all the dramas going on lol. But is that really a legit excuse? As for your 5 i guess it would be worth to get a remark if you find out you missed out on that 6 by a point or two. How many 7s did you get for hl besides music? And congrats pear.babe on the perfect mark! =D lolz, I got 5,6,7 for my HLs T______T I suggest emailing the university you'd like to go to. Or let's just wait for the component grades lol. And alright, yeah i think you're right lol. I'll be happy about my score. YAYYYY! *enthusiatic cheer* Lol I shouldnt be whining about not getting directly into medicine. At least i have a fairly good chance to get into my dream course, biomedicine, so im really happy about that. =D rofl just got my component grades... both my music HL and Eco HL are 4 marks off the grade boundary... should i remark??
  10. There are definitely bad teachers rofl... I never understood anything my maths teacher said in class, and most of the people in my class agreed with that... Same goes with my chemistry teacher, in 2nd year IB he hardly taught us SL people ANYTHING... (our classes were like study periods... lol well that's good in a way...) but since he's a nice person lol... At least we all liked him... And guess what, my language teacher was exactly the same... hehehe.... Oh well, I don't blame them, since I still got 6s for those subjects with my self-study... (But then why did I go to school? I could have just stayed at home and self-studied everything, hehehe..) Sometimes I happen to think i could have done better if only they could (or can be bothered) to explain things to us better...

I don't know if I should email them or not, since I only submitted that application like a few days ago, so it's not like I already have a conditional offer.. :/
  12. Haha we got the same grades! Also waiting for the breakdowns.. I think they'll come out in approxamately a week. I see that you're from New Zealand! I did my IB there as well.
  13. Yea, I've looked through the student room thread, but didn't find anyone who also applied to Economic history... I think the positive factor here is that this course isn't as competitive as the other courses such as Eco or law, I've checked the statistics and found that only about 120 people applied last year, and 20 people got in...While they have thousands of applicants for Economics Bsc etc. So I guess now I just have to wait and see... and possibly get a remark... T_T
  14. One of my friends has a similar horror story with LSE in the same point. Se was required to get 38 points with a 7,6,6 at HL. She managed to get 42 points with a 7,7,5 at HL. She called the school and begged and pleaded and so LSE told her that they'd hold her place while she got the 5 remarked. She got that one exam remarked and got it up to a 6. Then her place was confirmed at the LSE. It doesn't look too hot for you mate, unfortunately. But I would still advise you to call admissions and make sure. I expected at least a 6 Anyway thanks for your advice. Fingers crossed that I get lucky this time...
