  1. failed physics....lvl 4 was predicted a 7...
  2. Let me clarify. For my grade 11 history mark the H.I counts as 15% of my mark, this cannot be changed. My teacher said that I will be handing in my finalized copy of my H.I which will be counted towards my I.B mark this semester. Now my history teacher is one of those teachers who is absolutely professional and technical on I.B assessments. I talked to him and he reread my H.I. Now he remarked it and he gave me a low level 5. Still nothing close to what I was expecting but that mark isn't killing me on the inside as much as the previous one. Thanks guys for the support, in I.B i guess everyone goes through thick and thin which makes it what it is.
  3. My physics exam for IB is in grade 11 which is what I made posts on. The rest of my I.B exams are next year...sorry for confusion. And this is not my first draft...it was my final copy which can't be edited now...
  4. Hey guys I live in Canada and want to apply to Waterloo for university (maybe engineering or math or something financial). I just finished my grade 11 year (full first year of IB done). I just got my historical investigation back evaluated and I bombed it....like lvl 3 bombed it. I dont understand how I did so bad on it...my average in the course is a high level 6 and i tried really hard in the Historical investigation. I feel like since waterloo doesnt give any good incentive for I.B Diploma students I should just drop to Certificate so get less stress and can get higher average. In my school I have to take French and have to take HL history and I honestly am ok with history and French is my WORST subject. The mark i received is just so demotivational to continue this course...I spent so much time on that assignment and the output was the worst. Other than that I am really quite ok with math, meh with English, ok with everything else. Please i want your advice. Thanks.
  5. I had TZ1 paper 2 and its been 24 hours i hope since i wrote it like yesterday.....mine was brutal but paper 1 was THE easiest exam ive ever written.
  6. I will explain this to the best of my ability. So when a student takes the I.B course they are doing courses that are the hardest. What happens is that the grade on my report card (the ones that get sent to University) is my academic grade no my I.B grade. Hence my I.B grade gets "converted" up because its like getting a 50% raw in an I.B evaluation is equidistant to getting a 80% or whatever in the academic standards. Hence your I.B mark, proportional to the over all level you get (1-7) is converted to an Ontario mark that can be accepted to Universities and compared to in Canada. Every I.B course in Ontario atleast has this conversion rate. Not I believe for physics the conversions are as follows: I.B Level | raw % mark band | the converted mark of this i.B level 7 | 70%-100% | 96-99 6 | 60%-69% | 90-95 5 | 50% - 60% | 80-89 and so on.... I want a level 6+ which converts to 90%+ Ontario mark which is sent to my Universities when I apply to them. I have already posted the math as to how I can get a level 6 by simply just passing the paper 1, 2 and 3 by just 50%. I hope this cleared things up for you and others. I know the system looks kinda rigged to make I.B's numbers look really good but hey that's what you get when you pay for this 2 year course (High school is free in Ontario). Haha, my school does something similar, but our converted scores are way more unfair. For us 7=100, 6=100, 5=96, 4=92, 3=87... so on so forth O.o those are some fine figures your school go there O.o...your class average must quite high then. Lucky you cause in that case I would be getting a 100 rather than a 93
  7. Paper 2 was.. beyond terrible , well I am doing mine in 3 hours and 35 min so yeah.... I think I will do great got 8 hours of sleep ;D. Im sorry to hear that Matsu...im pretty sure it isnt as bad as you think. And the secret to sleeping early the day before my exam? well just listen to my parent's pep talk i mean that usually does it in 2-3 min...
  8. Yep, what i really dislike is the variables for topic 2 which is why i just memorized all of topic 2 formulae. My exam is tomorrow morning so yeah.... Good luck to both of us ! I hope we succeed with flying colors!
  9. its 5:45 pm here imma sleep at 9 pm and wake up at 5 am sound good?
  10. Dear sir this my thread where i need catharsis. Essentially this thread is my stress ball. Please delete this thread after tomorrow when I am done. (eye's twitch). You'll be fine. Just make sure that you know your definitions fairly well and it helps to keep in mind that they can't ask anything that isn't on the syllabus. If you come across something that looks alien to you, it'll be on the syllabus. Check the formula booklet for any inspiration Thanks very much for the wisdom...and it makes sense, i mean they cant test me on anything they haven't taught me and I think I had a nice teacher for physics. Thanks very much for your wishes and I also hope to do very well in my paper 1 and 2 and 3. My nerves have calmed down a lot but im still on my toes. What I don't like about the I.B style in general is that within the syllabus there is SO much flexibility which means you need lateral thinking and creative thinking. Hence i cant really predict the type of questions that I will be asked but I will be gaurenteed what concepts i will be tested on.

  12. Don;t sweat it, if you passed grade 9 math then you are able to do all the math required on paper 1. Ive been realizing that the questions are majority theoretical rather than coming with actual numbers. There may be some questions which require math but the math is easily doable in your head. i have paper 1 and 2 tomorrow so yeah....GOOD LUCK TO US BOTH

  14. So as I will use your formula and the first posters formula: Paper 1(RAW) * 0.2 + Paper 2(RAW) * 0.32 + Paper 3(RAW) * 0.24 = marks 50(0.2) + 50(0.32) + 50(0.24) = marks 10 + 16 + 12 = marks 38 = marks And since my IA is 24% of my mark it is worth 24 marks out of 100. Since I know for a fact that I got 22 marks out of 24 from my IA i will add 24 to my score Final I.B score = IA marks + Papers marks Final I.B score = 22 + 38 Final I.B Score = 60 Since 60 is in the ream of a level 6 my grade on my report card will be converted to a 90%{a level 6 in academic terms} (thats how the Ontario IB grade conversions work). SO hence my final grade for I.B physics which will be sent to universities is 90%+ Do you agree with the math?
