  1. THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR REPLY NOW HOW DO I REMOVE MY FILE FROM THIS POST I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MEENA
  2. Hello everyone, I have just received my first draft back for my maths exploration ia . My teachers comment was it did not have enough maths in it. I have asked my teacher for last two three weeks about my concern regarding not meeting the maths criteria he said he will look at the draft and give suggestions. But guess what no suggestions on my returned draft just letting me know i need to concentrate on the maths side of the project. I did my exploration on using logarithms to earthquakes and I have run out of ideas on how to include more maths calculation into this project. i have upload the project can some one help me with this please- any ideas to include more maths calculation please. I was looking at putting in tsunami calculation bernoulli theorem ( is this maths or physics theorem i am not sure) as my project was based on the 2006 boxing day tsunami. Or look into the maths modelling of predicting earth quakes and tsunami. please i need help thanks meena
  3. hi i have attach copy of my calculation can someone give me an opinion on whether it meets maths ia exploration criteria thankyou meena Mathematical Presentation.docx
  4. Hi carl thankyou, i have pasted my report for you. your opinion will be greatly appreciated thankyou meena i need to figure out how to attach a word document
  5. Hi everyone, I am doing my IA on logarithm and earthquakes Richter scale in particular connection to 2004 south asian earthquake and tsunami. I am half way through my report and i am bit worried that they is not enough maths calculation in it. I have explained and calculated how the formula works and even given a hypothetical example in it. but i am scared it will not meet the maths sl standard. Can someone help me to further develop this please ( i have already invested lot of hours in this report) my teach is of no help. thanks meena ps if you need i can attach draft of my project
  6. Hi thanks I must have confused my self i have recieved 6 for my FOA and 6 for my written task. Now how much mark do i need to score in final exam to achieve the overall 6 in english. When i said 17% i meant it for economics hl ia - to achieve overall 6 or 7 how much mark do i need to score in final exam thankyou
  7. HI everyone, Can some one help me with this question regarding marks and marking scheme. If i want to get 6 for English i need to achieve 69% up ( 2013 mark scheme guide) If i have 17% for my internals how much mark should i be aiming for in my final exams ( how much out of 100 marks ). according to me i should have 52% more in my finals - i am right in my thought process. If some one can help me please, so that i can use this calculation for rest of my subjects ( maths sl, chemistry sl, economics hl, visual hl, Spanish ab and English language and literature) I am planning on doing well in all my ia (so that i can take pressure off me in my exams - i don't do very well in exam conditions i panic) I need to know how much of mark i need to achieve in my exams so that i can set my goals and study pattern. thanks meena
  8. thankyou- you have given some good directions
  9. Hi Guys, i am not so good in maths, therefore i am not getting what i am meant to be doing in my IA. My teacher is no help - he is more discouraging than encouraging. My first idea was to identify the relationship between mathematics and astrology. He said no to the topic ( i wanted to do this topic being a Indian background my family totally believes in astrology therefore i wanted to investigate it more mathematically) My next idea was sundial - he liked the topic - but i don't know what i should be proving in this topic. - i know it is not just plain research topic but we need to prove a point in are research. I am not sure what? ( i choose sundial because i saw one in my last visit to india ) any ideas will be greatly appreciated thanks meena
  10. Is art better placed than standard historical writing to convey the personal experiential aspects of historical events? I did I practice tok oral where I previously had the question of "Are there types of historical knowledge that are better conveyed through art than through factual historical sources?". So when preparing for my final tok presentation my teachers allowed me to use the same presentation but to change the question and real life situation. So I have come up with the question is on top: "Is art better placed than standard historical writing to convey the personal experiential aspects of historical events?" . But however I am not happy with the wording of the question, can I please have some help with this. Urgent!
  11. HI, I need urgent help with chemistry IA. My IA is on Calorimetric Determination of the Enthalpy Change Using Hess’ Law. I am having trouble with calculation and trying to calculate with uncertainties. Here is my results RESULTS/DATA 1. Since the density of water is 1.00g/mL, and the solutions formed are close enough to be like water, their density will also be the same as that of water ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate decomposes upon heating to give sodium carbonate, water and Carbon dioxide gas as illustrated by the equation below: 2NaHCO3(s) ---------------> Na2CO3(s) + H2O(l) + CO2(g) = ∆H1 ∆H1 cannot, however, be directly calculated but can be found using enthalpy changes from two other reactions of Hydrochloric Acid with Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate and Sodium Carbonate respectively. NaHCO3(s) + 2HCl(aq) ------------>NaCl(aq) + 2H2O(l) + 2CO2(g) = ∆H2 Average Change in Temperature = {(13-14)+(21-20)+(21-18)+(18.5 -17)}÷4 = 1.125oC ≈ 274.275K Average Mass = {(7.001-2.249)+(7.002-2.255)+(7.001-2.261)+(7.001-2.334)}÷4 = 4.727g Energy Balance: qrxn = qsln + qcal Where: qrxn – The Energy produced/ expended in the reaction qsln– The energy content of the solution qcal– The energy content of the calorimeter Thus; Qrxn = Specific Heat Capacity × Mass of the solution × Temperature Change = 4.18 × 4.727 ×274.275 ∆H2 = 5419.36 J/mol Na2CO3(s) + 2HCl(aq) ----------------------> 2NaCl(aq) + CO2(g) + H2O(l) Average Change in Temperature = {(17-18)+(17-19)+(19-20.5)+(18-19.5)}÷4 = -1.5oC ≈ 271.65K Average Mass = {(4.001-2.328)+(4.001-2.345)+(4.001-2.324)+(4.001-2.324)} ÷4 = 1.84g Energy balance: qrxn + qsln +qcal = 0 Therefore, qrxn = - ( qsln+ qcal) Qrxn = Specific Heat Capacity × Mass of the solution × Temperature Change = - (4.18 × 1.84 × 271.65) = - 2089.314 J/mol Therefore; ∆H2 = 5419.36 J/mol ∆H3 = -2089.314 J/mol Thus; ∆H1 = ∆H2 + ∆H3 ∆H1 = 5419.36 + (-2089.314) => ∆H1 = 3330.046 J/mol My friends have results in range of 90. I am not sure where i have gone wrong. And can someone help me with how to calculate using the uncertainty figures in the calculation. I have done my calculation by averaging out the total results for one solutions. I am i doing it wrong or should i be calculation hews law individually and then averaging it out. can someone please help me. thankyou in advance meena
  12. Hi, After long though process i am thinking of doing my ee on Economics. My question is the impact of removal of subsidiary from diesel price in state transport services in India. i am planning only to concentrate on one Tamil Nadu (state bus transport). so that the topic is narrow. is this a good topic? But now my brain is stuck- I don't know how to approach this topic. I need know how to break this topic down so that it is manageable to write. What things should i be looking at to include in this. I also need to come up with interview questions for the minister of state transport . ( when i approached his PA i did not think i will get the interview but now that i have, my brain does not want to work). Please help thankyou meena
