  1. Usually even when I don't have too much work i usually get around 6-7 hours because i go to bed at 11-12 and wake up at 6:00 On nights right before a big assignment is due it gets cut down to probably around 3
  2. If you look at the marking scheme, a great portion of the marks come from the presentation itself and the language you use when presenting. I'm not completely sure on this but I don't think you can make a video and make that be your whole presentation. It's okay if you have a short clip that you play throughout to prove a specific point or technique but other than that, focus on the actual oral component

I had my IOP a week ago and I am so terrified of presentations so I understand that it's so so difficult to do an individual presentation for so long but here's what I did and it actually helped me a lot. Get your presentation done in advance. Convince yourself that you're going to present let's say three days before your actual presentation day (I got sick and missed my day but it's pretty much the same idea). You end up getting all your work done for that day and freaking out for your presentation but then you don't present on that day. When it comes to your actual day, you don't have to do any work the night before and you can forget about the whole entire thing until right before you present so that barely gives you any time to panic. I know this is more avoiding the problem than fixing it but if you don't have enough time to work on your public speaking, this could work

My school generally has a lot more applicants than other schools with IB in the region (a lot of them are catholic and not everyone is religious so that makes sense) so we have almost 1000 people applying each year for about 116 spots. I think the application process has changed since I applied but all I had to do was submit my marks, teacher references, and write the entrance exam which included English, math, and French
  5. For creativity, you don't even need to be producing an original piece in the sense of painting a picture or writing poetry. Something as simple as taking piano classes and practicing in between classes could count. Also, any sort of club that involves creativity counts for CAS, such as drama, choir, photography, yearbook, band, and if you have a particular art/design talent you can design posters for a club and count that as creativity. Personally, I'm not that great at the arts but I joined drama club, choir, and take piano lessons which all count for creativity.
  6. Aside from knowing your information well, be sure that you know your historians and their views well (dont make up names), as well as stats that would help support your points. Counter arguments are important to include where you can, just don't force them. Also, try to challenge the question you are asked. It's also a good idea to think of possible questions that you will be asked to write an essay on and practice making a thesis and arguments for those, because chances are, you might get that exact question, or something similiar.
  7. You end up relearning everything from the grade 11 TOK talks in the actual TOK class so I guess technically there isn't a point in going. In my school though everyone always attended them because they were fun and gave you an understanding of what the class would be like.
  8. In class I take notes by hand because it helps me with paying attention and memorizing the information. Later at home I usually type up my notes for subjects that don't require math concepts like history and english (equations are such a hassle on microsoft word) but that's mostly for organization purposes in case I lose my notes, and because you can print off as many copies as you want. If you're studying and making notes with your friends then doing this online on google docs for example also helps because you get the notes typed out much faster which leaves a lot more time to review (because at least for me, when I type out notes, it's pretty much mindless). While studying for tests, again I make written notes to help with memorization. If you're worried about being organized, try to make a to-do list for every day. I keep a checklist that I update at every class I go to, and keep a calendar to make sure that I'm not missing any deadlines, and all homework/assignments are accounted for.

You should definitely take chemistry as your HL because if you're going into any branch of science it's guaranteed that chemistry will help you and it is usually required for many science programs in university. For the physics vs computer science it all comes down to what you think you want to do in the future and what is easier for you. Unless you're planning to go into physics or engineering (or you're particularly good in the course) I wouldn't suggest taking it because I know so many people that are finding SL physics difficult. With computer science, even if you're planning to go into that in post secondary, most universities don't require you to have taken any computer related courses in high school as they start teaching you from the basics. So I think if you really have no idea what you want to do in the future, just pick it based on interest and your skill level.
  10. The math needed for even HL chemistry is actually pretty simple and your algebra course should be more than enough to get you through it. The stoichiometry unit requires a lot of math but it's mostly just balancing equations so as long as you know how to do that you should be fine
  11. If you're not good at balancing equations then many units of SL chem will be really difficult for you. I know I have a lot of friends struggling with stoichiometry because of that and much rather prefer their HL bio course. But HL bio might be difficult as well because my memorization skills realyl aren't that great and I'm finding all the memorizing difficult in SL bio. But with bio once you understand the concepts, they are fairly easy to memorize and apply to everything, and even if bio is HL it isn't that big of a workload so I think you should just stick with HL bio.
  12. Math: As said above, get a graphing calculator but be sure that it's on the IB approved list. You don't want to spend over $100 on a calculator only to find out that you won't be able to use it on your exams Chemistry: Print off data booklets so you know what you will have access to on the tests and what you need to memorize. What helped for me was getting a few thinner notebooks (one for each unit) and colour coding all my notes. Maybe also have a separate notebook for your practice questions because you're gonna get a lot of those to do English: You don't really need anything because most of the course (at least in my class) was discussing what we were studying and annotating texts so just be sure you have a lot of coloured pens and highlighters French: Get a bescherelle so you always have verb conjugations with you
  13. It should count as a CAS project because you would be covering two out of the three criteria- service and action. I don't think it matters that you have to pay for insurance and accommodation because you're still providing a service. It's like paying to join a soccer club and then using that as CAS action. If you're not too sure though you can always just run it by your IB coordinator
  14. depends on the documentary but probably documentary Would you rather go to tourist sites or the beach on vacation?
  15. At my school the IB students are the ones that never get any sleep, are always stressed, and think they are more elite than the rest of the school. I kind of also want to say that they're seen as really competitive but my whole school is pretty competitive in general, not just the IBs
