    Math HL paper 1

    I did TZ2 and I left about 10 points untouched, overall I think I lost about 30. If I had a little more time, I could easily get 8 more marks. Generally, this paper could be considered friendly, if it wasn't for the 2 hours. At one point I totally panicked and in such condition it is difficult to arrive at a correct answer or even at an idea on how to solve a problem. However, I still don't lose my hopes for a 7, if the grade boundaries do not go up and provided that I did fine in other questions.

    OK, so I think it has been 3 hours since we started being able to discuss the exams, so how did you find the exams and what were the options that you chose?

    I gave the same answers as you for data analysis and green light emitted, also 16 is the correct answer, then doesnt "s" stand simply for second? anyway i got that wrong haha and I found the grav strength from two mechanics formulas s = (v+t)2 * t and v^2 = u^2 + 2gs

    Yep, just used the first law of thermodynamics for that one. Q = 0, Q=dU+W, W=210, -210=U Thats great! Ok guys It's my first day here and I already cant leave But im back to studying, good luck everyone on paper 3 on monday

    again to those who did thermodynamics, there was this last question saying that in adiabatic change work done was i think 210J, what was the change in internal energy.. so since that was adiabatic there was no heat exchange so the change in internal energy was -210J, did i get this one right?

    Yep, I got 500K. Silly of them to ask which process was adiabatic after that question! I mean, I think they even stated it in a later question which one was adiabatic... Thanks for that free point. Was there a question that asked which one was adiabatic? Lol I remember having to label the one which was isochoric There were two possible choices right?? the one on the left and the one on the right. Because there was one that was increasing pressure and another decreasing pressure But didn't they ask for isothermal? Or did I misread the question? Why would they ask for us to label one of them if two were isochoric? Well there were questions in previous papers where you had to show the point where there was e.g. max displacement and there were a few points like that so I think you could choose one in this case too, and I am pretty sure it was not adiabatic/isothermal to be labelled because I saw the graph and before any questions were asked I checked which one is adiabatic thinking they would actually ask about it later but I didnt find such a question

    Who did the question on thermodynamics where you had to calc the new temperature of the gas? Did you guys get 500K?

    i deduced that according to the formula, if max displacement is halved, then the max energy is 1/4

    How did you find question 7? I found Q7 alright, might have messed up a bit when calculating the mass. I used the equation Ek=.5mω^2x^2 to get the mass and got 3.something :/ Hbu? Why 5? I also got something like this with mass and my graph started at -0.1 and ended at 0.1 and it reached a quarter height

    Oh, right... I never would have guessed that.... Really? I just read electrical currents and skipped that one immediately, hehe. Question 6 was pretty decent, more or less straightforward. Seems like we got few "show that" questions overall, which was a shame - love those! hahah same here! I hate electric currents with passion and question 6 was very nice Was it about climate and the satellite?

    I picked that too, you just raise the number 2 to the power of the number of places and you get 2^4 = 16

    Sofia I think they asked why you could not use polarization for ultrasound and this is because sound is a longitudinal wave and polarization is the property of transverse waves only, at least that is what I wrote.. and as to question 38, can you remind me what it asked about?
