    Exploration Topic for Math SL.

Hello guys! I wanted to ask you if you can give me some ideas for my exploration. I am thinking of doing it about astronomy. Can you give me any topic suggestions or ideas that would be related to astronomy? Any kind of help would be really appreciated.

    Studying in Europe

Mostly Scandinavian countries like Sweden,Norway,Netherlands,Denmark, but any suggestions from other countries would also be helpful.

    Studying in Europe

Hi Guys! I wanted to ask if you know universities in Europe that offer physics as an English taught programme or exceptionally good universities that offer physics even though it is not in English. I know that Lund University offers physics in English but I don't know any other. I would really appreciate any kind of help.

    Would this RQ work?

Hi guys,I wanted to ask something.I have been thinking of doing my exploration about astronomy. And writing something about the Hohmann transfer method seems the best option to me,since it involves advanced maths as well as physics.Maybe I can find how long it takes to reach a specific planet, what amount of escape velocity needed and when to make right adjustments(launching rockets). Would a question like 'How can a spacecraft reach to Mercury,by using the Hohmann Transfer method?' be suitable? I chose Mercury, because if I do neighbour planets, than there would be more simple calculations involved.

  7. Hello guys.I need to submit an research question tomorrow. However,I do not even have a topic.I am thinking of writing about the themes in the books The Road or Ulysses.I managed to come up with some ideas but I am not sure: Themes of war and conflict of the humanity in The Road. How does the belief of the characters effect their choices and actions throughout the story of The Road. How does the relationship between the characters, effect their chance of surviving throughout the story of The Road. The theme of altruism and self sacrifice in The Road. How is the importance of peace is being shown by the themes of war, violence and death,in The Road? The theme of family/importance of family in the The Road? How do the external factors effect the relationship/connection of the characters in The Road? The theme of death and mortality in The Road. The theme of survival/surviving in The Road. The theme of nationalism in Ulysses. What do you think?Which ones do you think are better and appopriate for the EE?Do you have any suggestions about them, reccomandations ?What other topics should I do?

    Maths Exploration Topic

My general comments for the three topics that you've come up with: (1) Fermi Paradox: this seems to be inappropriate as a maths investigation because there's simply too little for you to investigate. The paradox largely revolves around Drake's equation, which is more like a roughly-estimated argument rather than an actual probabilistic theory that strictly follows the rules of mathematics. So I strongly recommend you not to consider this idea. (2) Twin Paradox: this involves more physics than mathematics. It's after all a physics problem rather than a mathematics one. So I don't think this topic would be appropriate. (3) Possibility of landing a craft on a comet: This sounds like a possible topic, though i'm not quite what you mean exactly. However, i think modelling the trajectory of some space shuttle when it travels through space would be a really good topic for a maths IA. You could, for example, model the trajectory of an Apollo mission or something like that based only on Newton's equations and some data. Therefore I definitely think you should take this idea seriously. Also, you should take a look at this, which lists some interesting astrophysics topics that you can explore. What I tried to say with the third point was calcuating the possibility of landing a craft on a comet. However,I think that the topics that you suggested are better.Although,I don't know how if I can model a trajectory?Do you just draw it? I don't know how non-Euclidian geometry works, can you explain it a little bit and give some example topics,if possible?

    Maths Exploration Topic

Hey guys,I wanted to have your opinion about something.I am planning on doing my Maths Exploration about space, astronomy, time.I researched some paradoxes, facts and came up with three options for a topic: Fermi Paradox Twin Paradox The possibility of a craft to land on a comet. I don't think these are really great ideas so that is why I ask for your help. Can you guys recommend any other interesting topics under the category of astronomy, space?

    Interview the person below you

No I don't.I get out,pee then go back in. What is your dream job?

    Space and maths.

By the way,I just made a research and found out that cosmology is on the borderland between philosophy and science. Is it true, and if so then does it require high levels of physics and mathemathics to study on it?

Thank you so much for your answers!

Thank you and I have one last question:How can I improve my math?I look at some of the concepts and then try to solve questions. However I only study 2-3 days before the exam and I feel like I am afraid of math.I feel like I won't be able to do it and eventually fail.

    Space and maths.

Yeah,I dropped to math SL because I wasn't scoring high enough marks and did not want to risk my diploma.I was almost failing but now in SL I score averagely 5 and I believe that it will get better. All things aside,if I self study math and physics, how will the universities know I studied them? They will not be writing on my IB results.
