  1. This is a very clear answer for you. Yes it is allowed for you to use mathematics that are out of the syllabus that you studied in IB (even for HL) This is based on page 49 in the IB Maths SL Guide (pg 70 for IB Maths HL Guide) On Criterion E for the Internal Assesment Here is a link to download the Guide. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiN4qqqvc_KAhUE6x4KHRv1C4gQFggnMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fettes.com%2Fdownloads%2F1370268016-SL%2520Guide2.pdf&usg=AFQjCNFcumUjgaJp6atC65y6XcVVRoNyHA&sig2=FEtM4zMgdNQtlkaHk14u9w
  2. Hello, After I don't get good significant data results for my IA experiments, I decided to change it The new one would be: on leakage (area) and the affects on the volume of leaked (water) The experiment would be on the relationship gained fro measuring the leakage (very small like needle diameter) and the time taken and also volume loss of water. The initial volume of water would be 1500 ml. Therefore, the area of leakage would be the number of holes in the container. The physics involve would be atmospheric pressure and also rate of drainage (does not seem so physics though). Any comments or improvements?? (harsh ones are also welcome)
  3. Er... there's no paper 3. Sorry for late reply. If you want it the easy way, You might want to choose companies that I can consider cliche, such as McDonalds Apple Nike Google These are easy to remember, and it suites many topics, but boring though as other students tend to write on these too. 4. Hello, I would like to ask what plant is suitable to be used to measure its growth in which it is highly responsive towards its water consumption. Eg: the more water we give the plant, the higher its growth rate. The plant that you state might not be available in my area but just list a few that you know. I tried hydrilla but its hard to manipulate the variables as this is an aquatic plant. The measurement of growth might varies between plants like some uses length of leaves, numbers of leaves, height of plant. So please specify if it is not a burden for you. Please name the plant and scientific name if you know, I appreciate your help. Thank you.
  5. No. You can refer to EE guide page 15. Just type IB Guide EE in Google to download the guide.
  6. No. You can refer to page 15 in the EE guide. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0ahUKEwi06cWForvKAhWPsh4KHffsBs4QFggjMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Focc.ibo.org%2Fibis%2Fdocuments%2Fdp%2Fdrq%2Fextended_essay%2Fd_0_eeyyy_gui_0903_1_e.pdf&usg=AFQjCNFLgUPN67cpiIzKKf-lZBI44hXYKQ&sig2=S8KIQUUfoy4I74XtmKmFfA The link above is to download the EE guide (sorry, I don't know how to do hyperlink)
  7. Actually, for HL, you need to have primary research compared to secondary research for SL. It means doing interviews or surveys. It will be very unlikely for you to have an interview with people in a very large firm like Sony (you need to specify which department if intend to do so). Therefore, I suggest using businesses that are in your environment such as restaurants, cafes, bookstores etc. Or even you can use Burger King for example (in this case the franchisee in that area-be specific, its the franchisee business, not the whole firm) and interview him.
  8. Actually getting 5 for HL is better than getting 7 for SL in certain subjects. For example: Math HL 5 vs Math SL 7. For accountancy course, Warwick University (UK) requires min of Math HL 5, in which it does not accept Math SL even though 7. This is because SL and HL shows the depth of the subject while the marks shows your understanding of it. As Math HL is intense, 5 is equal to Math SL 7 (some may say Math HL 4 is equal to Math SL 7). I do agree on other things you said.
  9. Hello, I have read many posts in IB survival but found no absolute answer as concrete evidence (such as documents or hyperlinks) were provided. I do read EE guidelines but maybe I missed this key point. Even my EE coordinator said it is included. Though I a being skeptical to his answer. Is it really true? Me EE is going to become 4079 words if including in-text citation. Without, its going to be 3957. This is my very-very final edit, so I don't think I can cut on words anymore. I am thinking of going for the option of writing the word count as 4000/399x words even though if including in-text citation, it is going to exceed (though might not be ethical) as examiners have the option of counting the words. For you people to get a much clearer view of what I'm talking. Eg: shfdjhshf (Miller, 2013). This is in text citation. Does Miller, 2013 count as word count?? And please do not suggest me to use footnotes because this is FINAL.. Someone please give me answers with concrete evidence. (provide links/documents if necessary)
  10. Hello, (this is a message from my friend from my account) I need help on ideas or topics that I can do for my IA math SL exploration. Seriously, I want to get an A and I ran out of ideas. Maybe you guys think I am lazy enough. Actually no. Much of my proposal was rejected and recently yesterday again rejected. Please if you have any ideas. I have been reading many and many examples and also asking my friends, but still no idea. GG Thank you.
  11. Hello, I need to construct a man made island (a simulation) (in which I can seperate the area) for my IA, what is the best if not the easiest software to use??
  12. Here in my College, we do theater for Malay A SL, but the theater is the involvement of the whole batch (25 students, our college is small) , but maybe you can do a mini theater with around 5-6 or 7 students. Make sure everyone is involve with acting the lines. Your mini theater can be about a section in the novel, or even poem that you've learned. Lastly make sure each of you get enough time in acting ( don;t make it too short) I think 50 minutes is ok with 5-6 characters. Ask your teacher. Be creative, maybe can just make it out of 3 students. and 30 minutes. Good luck
