  1. Hello everyone , I keep changing my mind about what subjects I want to choose thats why I really need advice. I want to study Neurobiology as an undergraduate degree in an Ivy League University, and then either a Phd in Neurobiology or an MBA. For Ivy League Universities they don't have entry requirements other than to trigger yourself with choosing hard subjects, on the other hand, I would also like to apply to UCL as its known for being very good in Neurobiology. These are my subject choices for now: ENGLISH A LIT. HL SPANISH A SL (Spanish is my first language but maybe I should drop this to B HL but then I would start with 5 high levels) HISTORY HL (Ivy League prefer History I think) / BUSINESS HL BIOLOGY HL MATHS SL ECONOMICS/CHEMISTRY HL (probaby better for neurobiology but know to be extremely hard) They ask for over 40 points, so I need to find a balance between hard subjects and getting very good grades in them. What do you think about my subjects? Can you give me feedback about the ones you took? How should I plan myself to be succesful? Thank you so much
  2. Hello! I am currently in M5 and I need to choose my subjects soon. My goal is to get as many points as possible (I want to study International Relations) so what would you say is the easiest subject combination? I am fluent in Spanish and English and I would say my main ability is memorising. My favourite subject is Biology and I think its my strongest. I have got all 7/7 in all my subjects so I really don't know what I need to choose to get a 45 (approximately) in my IB. I want to get into an Ivy League university. I have thought of doing: English A Literature HL or English A Language and Literature SL Spanish A SL History HL: I think this will help me with my SAT subject test on History and there's loads to memorise right? It will also help me for International Relations Biology HL: I think this will help me with my SAT subject test on Biology and there's also loads to memorise? Maths SL Economics HL: I think this will help me with international relations. I don't really know if this is too hard or not to achieve a 45? could you please give me advice on my choices? Thank you so much for your help!!

How did you find Theater SL? What subjects did you choose and which did you find the easiest/hardest? Thank you so much for all your help

    Choosing IB Subjects

Thank you so much for helping me! I have one last question. I would like to do 2 language As (Spanish ans English) at a SL level. Would you say aiming for over 40 points with HL History, Biology and Economics and SL English A, Spanish A and Maths will be too challenging? Thanks again and good luck in your exams in May, I'm sure you'll do great.

So for the US do they mostly care about the points you get and not the subjects you choose? Is the UK the same?

You did 2 language As, I am bilingual in spanish and english. Would you recommend me taking both as a language A SL level? Do universities value it more? Thanks again

Thank you so much for all the information, it really helped me. Which subjects did you choose in your IB then? And did you take the SAT Subject tests of any of your HL subjects in IB? How did you find them. Thank you so much ❤️

Thank you so much for your help! What other subjects did you take? And how did you find them?
  10. Hello, I am currently studying in an IB school, (MYP system) and I am just finishing M5 (10th grade). I have got 7/7 in all my subjects this year and so did last year. My goal is to get into an IB University playing golf. This is why my subject choice is very important as I will need free time for golf training. I don't know how many points I would need exactly to get into an Ivy League but my aim is 40 points. I am Spanish but I have always been to an English school so I consider English as my first language as well. I am very good at memorising things that is why I thought History and Biology were good choices. I'm planning to study a combined degree of International Relations and Economics/Business/Psychology in University This is the idea I have for my subjects: English A SL (Language and Literature) or HL (Literature) - What is the main difference between them? Is it possible to get a 7 in HL? Spanish A SL History HL - How hard is it? I've heard so many different opinions. If I have a good memory would it be a good choice? How hard is it to get a 7? Biology HL - I love Biology. I would say it's my favourite subjects and I'm not finding it challenging at all this year. What is your experience in it? Maths SL - I was planning to do Maths HL but I think SL will be enough for what I want to study Economics HL/Business HL/Theatre HL - I think I will probably end up choosing Economics HL but honestly, I want to choose the easiest subject I can for this group as I think I have already some hard subjects. What do you think of Economics? Would Theatre show the University I am a versatile student? What is the best option? Thank you so much for your help! Carlota

    help with choices

If you want to do Law it is essential for you to achieve a 7 in HL History, English HL (7) and maybe Economics. If I were you I would take ESS, or the science that you are better at, at a SL level so that you have more time to focus on the subjects you really need. If you want to keep your options opened just in case you don't want to do Law then choose your favourite science at a HL.

    B&M HL or Eco HL?

I've heard that economics is much easier than Business and Management. In economics you need to write more essays but it all depends on what you prefer. Business and Management is probably more versatile, making it funner but I would recommend Economics as statistically its easier to get a 7 in and preferred by Universities.
