  1. Hi guys! I really need an IA topic. I can make sure I have personal engagement with it. My only problem is that I don't know which one involves a lot of maths and not only statistics, but it still is doable at the same time for an SL student. I have tried two other topics but I can't find the right one for myself. Please do you have any suggestions(from the list of topics on the internet) that is actually doable. I know you think that any one can be done if you know how, but please can you tell me which would really score well with enough effort and commitment. I'm running out of time and I'm panicking a bit.
  2. Hey guys, I was just wondering if any one has a level 7 samples of WT1, PAPER 1 COMMENTARY AND FOA, because I really put in a lot of effort and I can't imagine what exactly they want to see to give me a 7. I'm SL btw. Also, any study tips, examples of analysis? Thanks a bunch:)
  3. Hey guys, I have a question regarding citations: Can you place a citation in the bibliography list as it is related to development of your thoughts, but not directly cite it anywhere in the text? Is it better to clearly indicate where you used it?
  4. Thanks for the reply. But the thing is, the teacher didn't tell us to change it, but she told us to be careful, but I don't want to give up on the topic I have come up on my own just because someone else is also doing it. So, if I work on it utterly independently, using my own resources, my own method, introduction, like everything the same expect for the general topic, would it be okay? I mean if there's no similarities in the report, the procedure, and the resources used, they can't tell me I've plagiarized because I never looked at anyone else's report.
  5. Hey guys, in my chemistry class, I and another student have come up with exactly the same topic for investigation independently, and been quite surprised that the teacher said that someone else is also doing my topic, without any kind of communication. We have different only bases used, however the overall concept is the same. Can they accuse us of any kind of plagiarism, cause I don't know but people can do same topics if they want to, right?
  6. Hey guys, I have been thinking of a topic for my Maths SL IA, and would like to know if the Gini coefficient is commensurate with the level of the SL course or beyond if anyone knows, it's about economic inequality and advanced statistical tests, also which tests exactly I could use if you know of any resources. Thanks.
  7. Hi guys, i'm really confused what what ib expects for a chemistry ia topic and would like to know whether a topic doesn't have to be measuring an effect of something, or can be also just determination of concentration of substance. Thanks for replies!
  8. Hi guys, I'm looking for my chemistry IA topic and I'm a bit puzzled by different stuff people are saying. Some websites say that you need to have a lot of different approaches for analysis and your topic has to cross different chapters in the textbook, but yet most published samples on ibo.org include only one approach. So, in a nutshell, could combining an acid and a base or something else basically be a valid research that can get a 7? I would like to ask as well if you guys have any thoughts on whether it's good to do the IA on some topic from organic chemistry. Also I have a specific topic: effect of temperature on caffeine in tea for example. Is this a good topic, is it too simple, or how should I judge my topic? Thanks for responses.
  9. Hi guys, I am starting to write my math IA on tumor growth modelling and have researched quite a few models on tumor growth. One thing that concerns me that models seem a bit complicated and don't know exactly which models are best for my level of maths. Though I have seen it on the list of suggested topics and I guess it's not high above my level. Please share any ideas and advice, and also good resources you may know about. I would really appreciate this a lot.
  10. Thanks guys for the advice, I asked my librarian and also she said it will most likely be included in the word count if I write it, but that I can still write one without sending it. It could be just for me and my supervisor to have a better overview. My EE is in bio so I hoped I could make it look like a real research paper, but I'm certainly not gonna risk my grade because of that, but also for others- YOU CAN WRITE AN ABSTRACT FOR YOURSELF BUT DON'T SUBMIT IT!
  11. Hey guys, I'm doing a bio EE and wish to know whether the equipment/apparatus list is included in the word count(including the uncertainties) Thanks.
  12. Hi! I am interested if according to the new guide(i haven't found this information) you MUST NOT write an ABSTRACT OR if IT IS OPTIONAL, AND STILL NOT INCLUDED INTO THE WORD COUNT. I don't know but i think it could add to the overall focus of my essay. If anyone knows pls let me know. Thanks in advance!
  13. Hi, from what I've heard from our teachers predicted grades are actually more important than the actual ones as you apply with them, however you have to prove them that these are really your grades and the final grades mustn't deviate a lot from the predicted ones. Just do your best and you'll be fine.
