Personally i feel it should be written like a paper 2 english essay conparing and contrasting both texts. thus i don't see the need for extra books outside the two novels you are using but then again if you did research and found ideas/analysis from other sources you need to list them of course. but such research is not necessary
  2. Hey I was wondering. How does thistopic sound? "A study on why Stalin kept faith in the Nazi-Soviet pact uptill the invasion in June 1941" Is it too unfocused, or undoable? I read that Stalin indeed had intelligence from many areas about the German Invasion, and was probably planning a pre-emptive strike on Germany. Is there another way I can rephrase my current research Q? Please help guys!
  3. My teacher said 1. Dont take definitions from dictionaries. think them up yourself. 2. Introduce Knowledge Issues using the WOK&AOK 3. Always have the end in sight (whatever that means) 4. You dont necessarily need to have a concrete answer at the end. thats TOK 5. And even if you don't want to elaborate on your counterclaims, jst mentioning or hinting that there could be another possibility/way of looking at the topic woiuld get you marks

  5. You have to relate your toipc to the WOK and AOK, showing how your mind has attuned to the TOK way. They want critical analysis, and never forget counterclaims.

  7. you know what I love most about TOK, its quoting all those dead people, makes parents/ non TOK students look at you as if you're some fount of knowledge and wisdom. lawl
  8. no class!? well I guess you could say I have no classes too, we waste our time in TOK classes lol. The only studff we learn is in the TOK lectures, classes are useless for my schools TOK thing
  9. In my school its basically the lectures theygive which are inmportant. We have mass lectures where teachers talk about Reason, Emotion, Language, etc. So we have to take notes for our Tok essays later on. In classroom lessons we don't do much, there isn't much freedom and expression is rather subdued, so our leaning is just lecture style..
  10. My TOK teacher teaches english, she's quirky, with a funny dress sense. She doesn't allow much freedom of thoughts though, she tries to guide our thinking according to hers And discussion doesn't come openly, its rather forced because she picks people one by one instead of opening up her questions to the floor. Some students just can't speak on that topic and it falls flat on the floor..

  13. I think Biology SL is one of the easiest SL science. All you gotta do is make sure you read and understand the stuff, you'll go into the exam hall feeling prepared and exit feeling even better! Its really not that challenging if you know your stuff, and its not too content-heavy either..
  14. We generally get a book, mine is by Michael Lynch, to read on Stalin. Some get Corin and Fein My teachers also occasionally photocopy relevant stuff from various sources for us to read for revisionist, etc views on the history topic. I think as long as you've some contextual knowledge of Stalin it should be okay for Paper 1...

    My teacher basically told us, for O - origin, just copy down the line above the Source e.g. An extract from Stalin's Speech to the workers at the train station, 1932 thats the origin P- purpose, try to find the theme of the message, was it to motivate the train workers? Was it to declare how great the Five Year Plans were doing? V- value. Never ever use words like biased, useful etc. Just say stuff like, this source is valuable to a historian studying Communism under stalin etc L- Limitation, its usually linked to the Origin and purpose. Is the source limited because it was just a propaganda effort by Stalin? Is the (book) source limited in its information because it was written before the Soviet archives opened in 1995?
