  1. I am preparing for a Tok presentation about assisted suicide. So basically I want people's opinion on whether this is a good question for my TOK: "Should we be allowed to have the right to choose our own death?" So is this a good knowledge question? I Appreciate it if anyone can assist me.
  2. Hi all, I'm currently doing a mock TOK presentation and I have gotten my main RLS and the RLS that I will link everything back to in the end. The AoKs that I am focusing on are Ethics and partially History. The WoKs that I chose are reason and emotion. Specifically, I am trying to focus on how ethical decisions can be justified by reason and emotion. I still need news example for the counterclaim and claim. I have two claims; The first being that reason is the most reliable justification for an ethical decision and the second being that emotion is not a reliable justification for ethical decisions. My two counterclaims are basically the opposite of the claims. These claims are derived from the main RLS of mine which is the revoking of the net neutrality law. These claims are then later further validated by my other RLS for the ending when we link back to the main RLS and another RLS that is different but relevant. This is what it currently looks like: RLS: Net neutrality law was removed Definitions: Ethical decision making and Emotion 1. Claim: Reasoning is the most reliable justification for an ethical decision Example: ? 2. Counterclaim: Example: ? 3. Claim: Emotion can cloud one’s ability to make ethical decisions Example: ? (Possible psychology study) 4. Counterclaim: Emotion strengthens the justification of ethical decisions Example: ? (Something about religion) Link back to original RLS and then link to China's strict omission of information both online and physically. I need help to find issues or news that are linked to this topic since I had only found two so far. I will appreciate any sort of recent publications that I could link back to my KQ. Any news or issue suggestions for Claims or counterclaims will be greatly appreciated. If I am at risk of being plagiarised, please tell me. Thank you in advance.
  3. Hi everyone! I would highly appreciate it if anyone would like to share their previously done TOK presentations from last year or later. This is the first year that my teacher is teaching TOK and our class kind of needs some presentation videos to see the proper way to present. We've currently seen around 4 videos and none of the presentations were from last year so they're all using the old format. Any recordings of any TOK presentations would really be helpful for our class to learn about making an A grade TOK presentation. I do hope to receive some good presentation videos that my class could see and learn from. Thank you in advance for anyone who sends a link to their presentation. - K
  4. Hey there, any of you out there would be able to enlighten us about bullfighting in Spain. You don't have to be Spanish though. Thankkssss
  5. Hi everyone! I'm Kathleen and I was wondering if anyone that has already done their exams has any TOK presentations with the TKPPD and score and comments that their teacher and the moderator gave. I am helping my teacher try to find more examples of TOK presentations closer to 2017 since the video that IB has are both from the same school and are from 2012. If anyone would like to share their files with me. I will send you my email. If you wish to keep your name anonymous, you can send it without your name in the TKPPD. I hope to hear from someone soon
  6. HELP! So im currently trying to formulate my knowledge question for my TOK presentation which I am working on. My real life situation has to do with artificial intelligence and their consciousness in relation to humans. Currently my KQ as it stands is ; To what extent can reason be used as a way for artificial intelligence to exhibit human-like consciousness? My fear is that the question is not relevant as an exploration of knowledge issues in tok. Does anyone have any ideas which could help me out?
  7. How is this as a TOK knowledge question: "Is it ethical to criminalise expression of creativity?", to which my answer is: “Although it may be ethical and even necessary to criminalise art under certain circumstances, on the whole, it should be deemed unethical". I was wondering if it is necessary to reference the AOKs or WOKs in the question itself, or if I need to change the phrasing of my question. Other than that, I do think I have a very "TOKesque" question
  8. Do the real-life situations need to actually be part of reality? I'm thinking about using counterintuitive concepts such as the Monty Hall problem or the Banach-Tarski paradox. Would these be OK as real-life situations, or are they too abstract?
  9. I need to answer this question but I have no idea what to write... Why is language and vocabulary so important in the scientific world? I just need a few bullet points that can guide me.
  10. So, recently, my teachers and my CAS coordinator has been urging the IB classes to choose a CAS project to do. However, we're all in a frenzy because we don't know how to split ourselves up or what to choose. I was just wondering what the minimum and the maximum amount of people are needed to do a CAS project. And, if starting a blog giving advice to other students may be considered a CAS project?? At this time, any advice will help! Thanks, A Confused IB Student

  13. Hello, I really need help with formulating a TOK k.q.. I watched this video and was very interested in the idea of concussions experience and our perception of reality. Do you have any suggestions for the knowledge question?
  14. Discussion for the May 2017 TOK prescribed titles: “It is only knowledge produced with difficulty that we truly value.” To what extent do you agree with this statement?
  15. Hello guys, So my partner and I are doing our presentation under the Arts, and our RLS is about 2 different experts review the same movie, but give out different opinions. (Citizen Kane) and our Knowledge question is to what extent is an experts judgement objective? Do you think this is ok? Because we want to do something about objectivity vs subjectivity and the popularity of movies affecting the opinions of people.
  16. Hey, everyone! I'm in IB1 right now and have my first ever presentation soon. Since its the first presentation of the year, we were given a research question by our ToK teacher, which is: How do different Ways of Knowing interact in the Area of Natural Science? My partner and I chose "reason" and "language" as our WOK's and I will be exploring reason, and the are of natural science is astronomy, specifically Newton's Law of Gravity. My question is, how in the world do I connect reason to Newton's Law of Gravity? Language seems pretty straight forward, but I just can't wrap my head around reason... Any, and every, help/advice is greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks x
  17. Hi, and thanks in advance for any advise. I am planning on doing my tok presentation on allopathic and homeopathic medicine. So far I have been able to identify my RLS: Allopathic and Homeopathic treatment for acne. This rls is from my previous experience. I need help for my knowledge questions and AOKs. Just an advise on possible questions and areas of knowledge. Thanks.
  18. Looking at the titles for next year themselves are making me really glad that i don't have to write on any of those. I feel like they're harder than the previous ones. But anyway, I've been having difficulties wrapping my head around knowledge questions. Taking any of the prescribed titles for May 2017, what knowledge questions cam be formed? I think the most doable ones are 2,5 and 6. And how do you even formulate kq's?
  19. Hey my teacher just told me that you should never ever stay up at night and that it's crazy. Do you guys agree? Because sometimes I stay up all night but I don't really think I'm crazy. Also if you do believe staying up all night is crazy are here any situations which justify staying up all night? Thanks, BongSoldier OUT.
  20. I am about to finish up on my TOK presentation. Now, we are working on the TOK presentation planning form. The form has a 500 word limit, which it extremelyyyyy difficult to cut down to. I had to remove one RLS (it was not a very strong on anyways). However, is it alright if I am basing it on just 2 RLS? I can't fit it in anything all! A lot of other outlines on the internet seem to have 3 RLS. I am hoping to move up to a 9 or 10 out of 10 for the presentation but am unsure whether if I should have at least 3 RLS. Thanks in advance for your reply, I really do appreciate it!!!
  21. HI y'all I would appreciate some pointers on the Theory of Knowledge presentation. I don't really understand how you can formulate a second order knowledge question from a real-life situation or even what a second order knowledge question is. I believe a knowledge question is just a question about knowledge so would a second order knowledge question be a question about a question about knowledge? Very confused. Any help would be much appreciated and accepted. Thanks, Crash «MemeReviewer» Bandicoot
  22. Hello guys (and girls), I am about to start my first Theory of Knowledge class very soon. I am both very excited and nervous about this because I have never done something similar to Theory of Knowledge in my academic career. Although I often score high marks such as A-'s and low 7's, I am unsure on whether or not I will be able to achieve an equally outstanding grade in Theory of Knowledge and would like to ask anyone who has completed the Theory of Knowledge course for any tips on doing well. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Crash «MemeReviewer» Bandicoot
  23. Hello, I am really struggling with TOK. No matter how much thought I put into it, I get horrible marks. So at this point I just want to pass TOK. Is it true that 19/40 is a pass? 20 marks for both the essay and the presentation, right? Thanks!
  24. I had an argument with my TOK teacher and she is refusing to give me feedback and is going to submit what I give her, as the final draft Can someone please help me out and go over my essay? I've written it on topic 5 : To what extent do the concepts that we use shape the conclusions that we reach? Thank you
