  1. Hey guys, so my EEs is on risk perception of GMOs, and how this influences implementations in countries. So I have psych as part of my interdisciplinary and bio. So do I do APA citations or MLA citations??? I'm so confused and this is due tomorrow and i just realized this. Welp
  2. Hi, I'm in my first year of IB and I am starting to research potential topics for my chemistry extended essay. Because I want my extended essay to include one of my passions, I decided to write it about something related to medicine, pharmacy or even climate change. So far, all my ideas have been rejected by the supervisor due to them being inappropriate or too difficult. But I think I finally came up with something usable, I still need to work narrowing it down but do you think to research about the effectiveness of expired meds such as Ibuprofen or aspirin and relating it to the maybe useless expiration date of some meds? (they are only there because of law). Do you think it will be enough for a chemistry extended essay? Thanks in advance
  3. Hey. Now that the ib Extended Essay marking has changed from previously being out of 36 to now out of 34, what's the passing mark for the EE? And what are the grade boundaries for it?
  4. Want to share the title of your extended essay? Or perhaps need help choosing one? This is the place. Psychology - The Psychology of Road Rage: A discussion of psychological explanations of road rage and policy implications.
  5. Hi we were told to start thinking about our extended Essays and introduced to the idea. I am interested in subjects such as History and World Religions and I also want to incorporate my passion for technology within my topic. (side question: would the topic "Radar changed the engineering/battle strategy, tactics of WW2" be good enough or is it too narrow or broad?) Thanks for the help. Much love :)
  6. Hello! I'm currently writing an extended essay for history about Nazi education in Germany and how it was implemented. This is my current research question: "How did Nazi Education Policies affect the growth of the Third Reich in Germany?" However, I've found that the question's phrasing isn't conducive to analysis. My essay is becoming more and more narrative, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I'd love some help with fixing my question! Thank you!
  7. Hi, guys. My EE topic due date is like literally tomorrow, so I really need major suggestions by people. (I have ideas below.) I'm taking English A SL, but I'm considering to take Category 3 English Extended Essay. Are there any other people who are in the same situation as me? Taking English EE but it's not their HL subject? I approached and talked to my English teacher / English Supervisor today and like they kinda don't recommend me to do it because my English language proficiency need to be Very high, especially when the markers are Native English speakers, so they'd expect so highly in terms of the language use, etc... But, like my situation is so complicated. Actually my first choice is supposed to be Economics EE, but until now I haven't got any idea to link my interests (K-Pop) to an economic theory, and it's literally tomorrow... I mean I kinda have a rough RQ for that one, but I don't know if it uses a lot of economic theory... So, I still have to find one in case my English EE really gets rejected, but it's really tough when I can't think of an economic theory. But anyways, if I were to do an English EE, I wanted to analyse various songs by this particular Korean boy band (BTS) and how it reflects the conditions in Korea as well as how they have influenced the society in the world, which is through their lyrics. (I can tell you my exact RQ through PM.) I thought it was a good idea at first and I can personally envision myself enjoying when writing it (well at least compared to Econs) I think, plus my EE coordinator (which is also my EE Econs supervisor) strongly encourage students, encouraged me, to do an EE on something I'm passionate about. But, right now, I don't know if this is a good idea for an English EE anymore because my English EE supervisor wasn't convinced, like they have to see if my English proficiency is high enough (but I'm actually not quite confident in that, I just really like the topic that I've thought on), whether analysing songs would reach 4000 words, and whether the topic is good enough, etc. So I'm going here to hopefully be able to see people's thoughts on my situation. So, please, please, please help me, just throw in your thoughts or like anything, what do you guys think about it? Do you guys think it's not doable too? Thank you so much!
  8. Hi guys, I'm in my first year of English HL and have to submit my questions that I'd like to do for my EE by this Friday. I have a few ideas about what I'd like to write about ranging from the dark web to programming. I was going to look at the dark web and it's impact on society relating to free speech and privacy but, I feel as if there may not be many resources on that. My teacher and I talked for a bit and we settled on machine learning and the impact they have on society. However, I feel that this question may be too broad and if I was to look at artificial intelligence and the impacts it has on society, that would also be too general despite the various information that would come from it since, machine learning stems for AI. I know I'm interested in the computer field so, I'd like to base my EE somewhere in that category (Science/technology). I'm not asking for a question but, a few ideas or what you guys think I can set as a foundation for my EE. Thanks in advance for the help!
  9. Hello all, Arabic is my native language and i will be doing my EE in Arabic B because i take arabic BHL, which the IB coordinator at my school suggested. My supervisor suggested a topic that she said was really good and would get me a good grade hopefully an A. the thing is that i dont really know how to write an EE in arabic. what do i write first? what do i write in the introduction? in the abstract? can i use online resources? Please Private message me if you can help me and ill give you my topic maybe you have good knowledge in it.
  10. Hi guys, so this is my situation. for my extended essay, i planned to go for computer science subject on something about machine learning. My research question was about how effective a boosting model was in predicting stock prices. So i asked my teacher, and after reading my outline he said that he considered this an ITGS essay. What do you guys think? Can it be used for CS? What should i alter and how to improve? Thanks. P.S. i am also unsure of this topic is too advanced for me as i am not really experienced in the R language or programming in general, but have someone close who is very familiar.
  11. Hi guys, my EE sort of 'proposal' due date where we seriously consult to the EE supervisors and all that are next week's Wednesday, and honestly I'm still so so confused and I need help or just some suggestions or anything, please. Here are the subjects I am taking: Economics HL, Mathematics HL, Physics HL, Chemistry SL, English A SL, MandarinAB. So, since the start, I've always intended on taking Economics EE because from all my other subjects, it seemed impossible for me. (I've been getting rock bottom scores for Math and the school have no more supervisors for Physics). So, I've been researching a lot for like a few months now, but until now I've got nothing. Initially, I wanted to do about impact of K-Pop in Korea's economy, which would certainly interest me, but the Econs EE supervisor said to do something related to your country, and I'm an Indonesian. I've also searched about topics like tourism, transport, food, etc, but it's really hard for me to relate it to the economics concept especially when it's like about a particular brand like for example McD, etc. And lots of people say that it's leaning more towards Business, and I don't take Business. My economics EE supervisor has been chasing me and all that about topics topics and topics for Econs since he knows that I want to take it, but yesterday he talked to me and said that it's really important for everyone to do an EE on a topic that will surely interest us and something that you are passionate about. He kept on also encouraging the whole class to take a Language EE, like Indonesian B and the subject allows you to talk about a wide range of things like analysing songs, brochures, ads and all that, etc. So, I was quite persuaded by that and I really want to do on something about K-Pop. So, I noticed I could write about K-Pop on these language EEs, but the problem is I don't take Indonesian B and I don't take English A HL (I take A SL), so it would surely be a challenge for me. Even though Indonesian is my first language, I don't know if I could write well, but I really feel like I wanna do this you know, or maybe do English A EE. Another problem is, I don't know how I could relate the topic of K-Pop to these language EEs, can anyone maybe share me your thoughts on my issue please? I really need help. Thank you!!...
  12. I have to choose my EE subject and I'm thinking about Economics and Global Politics. I like both subjects equally and find them pretty much related to each other. I have to submit my choice next week and I still have no idea what to choose! What are the cons and pros for these two subjects? I was thinking maybe it is more difficult to do the research for Economics or am I wrong?

    EE HELP

Hello, I'm half way through my first year in the DP and I'm still struggling to find an interesting topic for EE on English. I wanted to take a look at The Great Gatsby, The Yellow Wallpaper or The Lord of the Flies but my sister recommended me not to do so because these texts are studied throughout the years of IB and the markers would expect an exceptional outcome towards the essay; essentially making it a little difficult for me to ace. I'm currently reading about Burmese Days by George Orwell, it talks a lot about gender, race, culture, imperialism and etc. but I'm not too sure if I'll be sticking to this one. My only option now is to take a look at other novels that perhaps incorporate politics or feminism (I feel like they'll be easier to deal with???). So, I was hoping if you guys could give me some advice on the EE and some novels I could take a look at
  14. So, my class was told that our EE's are due next year in May and our first draft is due in a few weeks. I heard History is a great subject to look into for the EE but our teacher advised us not to focus on it since our class doesn't take that subject anymore ( ☹️ ). Anyway, I plan on finishing my TOK, CAS and EE before the year so I can focus on my studies next year. Unfortunately, I still haven't come up with a satisfactory topic yet for EE. I thought of doing it on the Western influence on Japanese art but I doubt I'd find any articles or information that could potentially build a 4,000 word essay. So I was hoping if anyone could please give me some interesting topics for EE I could perhaps look into, preferably English or History (my supervisor is a major in both these subjects, so it won't matter). Please help me, I'm actually really stressed out and worried about this.
  15. Hello Folks, My Research question for my social & cultural anthropology essay is How have Indian traditions & culture impacted the Jewish cultural identities & their culture in Mumbai”. As part of my primary research, i have interviewed & surveyed a head of a Jewish community center in Mumbai. I have garnered a lot of information about the history, modern day statistics, rituals, comparison between Mumbai & Jerusalem as an abode for Jews, personal experiences of Jews in India and so on. My secondary research mainly includes you-tube documentaries, a limited amount of research publications & some community forums. I am unable to deliver my essay a proper format/structure, hence this is restraining me to write. I have included the background information about Jews in Mumbai in the introduction. I need some urgent help with an appropriate format & some tips on my research work for the same. Thank You Amish Agarwal
  16. For my Psychology Extended Essay I'm interested in the topic about gender roles but I'm still not quite sure on which aspect of it that I would like to focus on. I found tons of articles and journals about gender roles, gender differences, the biological and sociocultural aspects of gender, etc, which make me even more confused. Any suggestions on interesting specifics or aspects of that particular topic?
  17. I am currently doing my economics extended essay on the following topic: How will the new steal tariffs affect the steel industry in the province of Quebec? I just need some advice on what exactly I should focus on analyzing.
  18. Hello! I'm doing my extended essay on plant growth, but I only have 3 trials from my experimenting. I was told that theres hardly any statistical analysis that i can do without more than 5 trials, aside from calculating the mean, and I have no idea where to go with my data. I was planning on a lab based EE from primary data, but I'm not sure if thats possible anymore seeing as I dont have enough trials for in depth statistical analysis. Should I run more trials, or should I change direction with my EE and use my primary data to support secondary data, turning it into a research based essay instead of experimental?? Please help!! - Thanks, Cherry
  19. Hey guys, what are your thoughts on ManageBac? Do your schools use it? In my school I only used it for CAS, but my friend's school used it for everything in the IB but he said it was pretty annoying to use... Is it any good? Do schools use other programmes instead?
  20. I need a to form a "research question" for my EE, I just don't know what kind of question. I know for my EE I want to analyze either Debussy's string quartet and Ravel's string quartet (based on debussy's) or just Debussy's alone, but how do you make a question out of that? I have something along the lines of "To what extent did Debussy's String Quartet affect the structure and content of Ravel's string quartet" or something like that but I feel like that isn't like... IB enough. Like AP focuses more on music theory specifically but Ib music focuses more on analyzing the context, style, and feeling of music rather than the technical aspects of it, and I feel like that research question doesn't encourage enough analysis of that. Any other suggestions?
  21. I had to restart my EE cause my original question was based way too much on anthropology rather than history so they thought I should either change question or topic. SO I changed to English. I'm currently deciding on my new topic and I'm looking at either: 1. Looking at the Walking Dead and the use of civil society in a dystopia (focusing more on dictators) and using the Social Contract to help analyze it, I haven't yet started planning how I'd do all of this but I have ideas. 2. Analysing Joji's music and look at the story it tells through the lyrics and possibly music videos and answers through his language. I'm honestly really far behind but I chose English because as the saying goes I create diamond under pressure. Thank you if you're able to answer
  22. Hi guys. I have already looked through lots of ee on econs and I found out that most students did their ee on market structure, e.g. to what extent is ... operating in a perfect competition? If I were to do my ee on market structure, will it seem to be lacking originality which IB examiners are looking for?
  23. So, I am planning on doing my EE in Art and I was thinking of doing the topic "How are American and Japanese art influenced by one another and how are they different?", or something along those lines. Is this too vague? Should I specify a specific area of art? Can I even use this topic? Any feedback and suggestions would be awesome. Also, my 2,000 words checkpoint is next week and I haven't started yet, so please help ASAP!
  24. For my Art EE, I was thinking of using the question "How are American and Japanese art influenced by one another and how are they different?". Is this topic too vague? Should I specify a specific area of art? Is the topic even usable at all? Any feedback and suggestions on this topic would be great. My 2,000 word checkpoint is next week and I haven't even started so I need help ASAP!! Thanks!
  25. I have chosen to do my EE on maths. I need some advice on what to do, I have submitted numerous topics for all of them to get rejected. The same reason is given and it is that it is not heavily based in mathematics. If anyone could help tweak one of my topics so it would be perfect as I am struggling quite a bit and I can not get help from my advisor as it is their first year doing this because the advisor I was expecting to get stopped doing EEs. My proposals have been: Geometry behind renaissance architecture, permutation groups and diamond quality, distributions of chance in game show games, statistical analysis of the premier league and use a general rule to predict a champion. If possible I would like to do the group theory one as that has always interested me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
