  1. Want to share the title of your extended essay? Or perhaps need help choosing one? This is the place. Psychology - The Psychology of Road Rage: A discussion of psychological explanations of road rage and policy implications.
  2. I submitted 1200 words TOK essay four days later (Aug 28, 2018) after the deadline. This deadline is not the ib deadline but its what the teacher set. The teacher was okay with me submitting four days late because the majority of the students did not submitted on the deadline. However, today Aug 30, 2018, I decide to submit reworked TOK Essay, specifically changing the introduction, evidence used and 200 more words, then I uploaded to the candidate ib website. The teacher was not okay with me reworking on the essay and told me to submit the previous one, so he rejected my essay I uploaded on the candidate website. For me this is an unfair situation because I reworked hard and there are still students that not yet submit the essay for the school deadline. I think if there are students that are given extra time to work on the essay, I should also have the right to rework on it. The teacher told me that he will not give me extra time, and said that this was supposed be submitted a week ago. He also said "It tooks a week to check my essay" which he did not want to recheck my essay again. My question is am I possible to submit the essay that I reworked after the deadline passed? Do I have the right? Should I ask my teacher for allowing me submit the reworked essay?

    Cold War Essay

Hi there! I'll be writing a essay on the Origins of the Cold War, and I'm slightly confused on how exactly I should structure it. I know that the three big conferences were important towards breaking the Grand Alliance, but I'm not too sure what else I can touch upon. Is there a way that you guys could help me a bit? So far, I guess I could talk about the ideological differences, politically?, but I'm not too sure what else I could say... Thank you all so much in advance!!
  4. I am am work on my mathematics extended essay, and I want to do it on: 1. Coming up with a general formula for the volume of the five Platonic Solids (I need to know from other mathematics higher level students if this is two simple). 2. The proof(s) for Euler's polyhedron formula. 3. The Travelling Salesman Problem (not sure how much math is involved as opposed to computer science). I am most interested in the first but willing to drop it if it is too simple. I am also open to suggestions of other interesting topics in geometry (the subject I have the most interest in). I want to get some work done before the summer break ends in about 4 weeks, so I could really use some advice (especially considering my adviser has gone incognito).
  5. This is an internally assessed essay I wrote on nature imagery in Macbeth in 2018 during my Year 1 English Lit course.
  6. I'm currently having my summer break, but still couldn't find a good Physics EE topic to discuss. I've had a few but not consistent meetings with my supervisor, but she said that my previous topics that I've made are too general. My previous EE topic that I've came up with was about the relationship between a change in rate of displacement with the Doppler Effect. I've done my EE draft and submitted, but was not really satisfied with my supervisor's comment (too general and not EE worth [though good for IA]). Then I've decided to leave my previous draft and trying to come up with another one. Now I'm currently having ideas with the application of electromagnetic induction (Faraday's Law) on electric guitars (and other music-related), but I just can't seem to find a suitable research question/purpose behind the topic. Can anyone help?
  7. Long story short, I did a bio extended essay, messed up the experiment, instead of isolated colonies I got a single weird blob. No data collected. Failed the experiment. Am I allowed to use external data to support my arguments?
  8. Hey guys, hope all of you are well! So I recently submitted by extended essay options (both of them being history related questions). I really want to refine my questions and get an insight on them, in regards to the questions being doable or not. Thanks in advance! Question 1: To what extent did Henry Ford and the Model T impact American society throughout the 1920s? Question 2: To what extent has advancements in technology led to developments within the automotive industry post World War Two?
  9. I UPLOADED MY ESSAY ON THE IBO AND IT WAS WITH A TIMES NEW ROMAN FONT. MY TEACHER TLD ME THAT THE FONT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ARIAL LAST MINUTE. WILL MY ESSAY GET A FAILING GRADE BECAUSE OF THAT?
  10. How does one determine the overall meaning of a book? Not looking for themes/motifs, rather something more like author's intent or what the novel brings to light. I can often think of several ideas but nothing that I feel is enough.
  11. Hey, i was wondering how you can include, in paper 1 and 2, the historiography and discussion of historians' points of views: write the arguments of the essay and then prior to the conclusion do a separate topic discussing the historiography, or should I include historiography for each argument I use (e.g Imperialism argument and thus include the view of an historian which thinks it was a fundamental cause for the outbreak of WWI - do this for every argument). So far, I have been doing the first, that is, writing all arguments and in the end do a separate discussion (more less 8/10 lines), so that I can then conclude the essay. What do you think it should be done/how do you do it?
  12. Hi everyone, I am just about to start the second semester of my gr 11 year, and as such I am beginning my extended essay. I am writing on The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and I have come up with the following question: How does the use of colours in Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief underline how Death comes to understand the dichotomy between the concepts of beauty and brutality? I would like some feedback about the broadness/narrowness of this question and if people think it is a viable EE topic with significant material to write a well-developed essay on. Thank you!
  13. Hey! I am confused about internal citations for the Extended Essay. I have internally cited primary and historiographical/secondary sources, but do I have to cite EVERYTHING? My EE is in history, and almost nothing is just "common knowledge." What do I do?
  14. Im doing my EE on the symbolism in Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and I've only used the novel as a source. Do I have to refer to other sources too? There isnt much research done on symbolism in NLMG so I dont know how I would get more than just one source!! Please help!!
  15. Hello everyone!! As I know WT1 for English A is supposed to be a creative writing, not an essay. Anyway, I was wondering if I could do an interview essay instead of a simple interview. Does any of you know if that's allowed?

  20. So, I am currently looking into topics that I want to do for my history ee and I've kind of hit a wall at this point. I wanted to focus my essay on the personal beliefs of 16th century English monarchs and how they influenced religious practices during the Tudor dynasty. Does anyone have any advice on how I can expand on this topic??
  21. Hello, I've just joined IBSurvival today and I was hoping to get some help. Not sure exactly what I'm allowed to ask, but I hope I'll be able to find some answers either way I was wondering if someone had any tips on organising and structuring an extended essay. My topic is comparing and contrasting social housing development strategies and policies in 2 different cities. However, I feel like I don't know what to write - as in how much of for example, the history of the city, policies, etc...- and where to write it under (as in sub topics I guess). 22. So, I have recently started looking into extended essay topics and I'm not really sure what to do. I'm focusing on history and so far I've come up with the idea to focus the essay on how the rise in political power of the Roman Catholic Church in medieval England affected the lives of the people. But, I'm kinda hesitant on this topic as I'm not sure if this topic would be good to write 4000 words on. Any suggestions on how I could expand upon this idea???

  24. Hello there! I'm currently struggling with the tok essay , i chose the 5th prescribed tittle 'the best explanation is the simplest explanation' .since it is necessary for the maximum grade to have ''a sustained focus on knowledge questions connected to the prescribed title—developed with investigation of different perspectives and linked effectively to areas of knowledge and/or ways of knowing.'' this is not clear enough since i read reports about the tok essay that said many students didnt use knowledge questions properly , plus we dont have anyone that can help us with tok in the highschool ,if you know how to use them in the essay could you explain them please?
  25. Hey all! So I have to hand in a draft of my written assignment for English A SL in the coming week. Our teacher can only give us feedback this once and there after we are on our own. I understand that it counts for 25% of the grade which is a lot so I don't want to compromise on this. I was looking at the assessment criteria and it is as follows: A: Reflective statement (3 marks)B: Knowledge and understanding (6 marks)C: Appreciation of writer's choices (6 marks)D : Organization and development (5 marks)E: Language (5 marks) I don't really get C: Appreciation of writer's choices. How do I show this in my essay. In the body I have basically three main paragraphs that prove the thesis statement. It is about a play so most of the content is just evidence through dialogue and behavior of the main character. How do I incorporate say the significance of this and this metaphor if it does not lead to achieving the goal of proving my thesis? And what if the play doesn't have that much in terms of writer's choices? What exactly is writer's choices? Also can someone outline what to write in the conclusion? I read somewhere here that you sum up your main points explain the significance of the final product and also come up with something new. Also if anyone has any tips generally with the WA or just essays in English it would be a great help to list them here, I haven't had much practise in school for essays and I don't feel very confident considering it is to be externally assessed. Thanks! Haseeb
