  1. This is my first time writing a post on these forums, and i am reaching out because I need desperate help. In my school, the class now has deadlines to when you're suppose to submit your criterions of the history IA and the EE for grading. (which makes perfect sense and establishes a system of accountability and forces you to not lag behind.) SADLY, I am a huge procrastinator and barely made it to the criterion A deadline and bullcrapped all of it. !!!CRITERION B IS DUE FOR GRADING TOMORROW!! :( The area i would particularly enjoy writing about and researching is the nature of the feminist movements in the united states, particularly the second wave and perhaps what extent it reached it's goals. My topic was "To what extent did the second wave of feminism reach it's goals" but it's too broad and my teacher needed an exact timeframe. Either way it is hard to find substance on this area anyways, in archives at least. The book I was going to use is Betty Friedan's "The Feminine Mystique" but I had a hard time justifying any of my sources or books. I don't know why this is so hard for me but it may be because I haven't sat down to figure it out, but I don't have great background knowledge on or am interested in history topics of any other nature. I've seen suggestions of Coco chanel, and i could go there but i have no idea how to formulate a topic around her. A problem I am also running into is I don't have access to my public library at the moment because my car BROKE DOWN a week ago. Are there any online sources for book pdfs that are free or applications for free ebooks? Sorry this is a handful. I hope someone takes the time to help me. Please tell me where to start, or what I can focus on that could pertain to shifting roles of women anywhere. Set me on the right track to formulate a good debatable topic! this forum is my last resort :"(

Hi! I made this document for a class assignment and everyone seemed to really like it so I thought I would share it with all of you. The spaces after each section are to write any questions you have or any additional information you would like to add. I know the topic is specific but it is a large section and you could probably cut these down more. I can't take all the credit as two other students helped create this document too. I hope this helps!
  3. My History IA is due on December but I have to make a proposal which is due on Monday next week. I've been so busy with other subjects that I wasn't able to finish my proposal. I've been stressing out over what topic I should use but now I've found one: Gender Equality in Cuba. I've always been interested in the progressive history of achieving gender equality. Now, my question is "To what extent is Fidel Castro’s involvement in women’s rights between 1959 and 1990 driven by his ideological interests?". Please help! Quick!
  4. So, I have recently started looking into extended essay topics and I'm not really sure what to do. I'm focusing on history and so far I've come up with the idea to focus the essay on how the rise in political power of the Roman Catholic Church in medieval England affected the lives of the people. But, I'm kinda hesitant on this topic as I'm not sure if this topic would be good to write 4000 words on. Any suggestions on how I could expand upon this idea???
  5. if the statement of the historian is accrutate that we are writing but we forget the ful name of the person. are they going to know if we make up a name or are say a name close to the orginial
  6. Hey guys, so obviously the paper 1 for the IB history has changed. That much I have down, on tests using that format I'm getting 7/7 almost every time now, but now that I've mastered to some degree the paper 1 I have realized I'm terrible at Paper 3. I was hoping you could share your secrets to paper 3 success, I'll share anything I've found helps, but I really have no idea how to get over a 4/7 on the paper 3 right now. Create a very brief outline (5-8 Minutes) Briefly; Breakdown Question Construct thesis Topics for paragraphs Supporting points Supporting evidence Include Broad, and Specific Examples (Paper 3 Specifically..) (This still confuses me a little and costs me most of my points due to few Specific Examples, but I struggle to correct it.) Use a Basic formula to form you points Point, Example, and Analysis PEAL Point Example Analysis Link Etc.. Represent different perspectives Historiography OPCVL Origin Purpose Content Values & Limitations These are my tips, I hope they help you guys. If you have anything you want to add so I can figure out what I'm doing wrong that would be awesome!
  7. Hi! My question is about a History EE and mainly about the chronology (the 10 years rule). My research question is something around "To what extent did the british coloniser's 'divide and rule' policy lead to the independence of South Sudan?" So the Independence of South Sudan happened in 2011, but I want to focus my EE on events which happened up to January of 2005. Will it work out? Please help and thank you!

  10. Hello! I will be starting my first year of IB in a couple of weeks, and I am still stressing about my courses, whether I have chosen the right ones yadda yadda. I am not sure what exactly I want to pursue in university, but I believe that it'll wither be something within law (human rights, particularly women's rights) or medicine (pediatrics). I have enrolled in courses that (I hope) will keep my options open. I shall be taking: ~IB Engligh ~IB French ~IB Biology ~IB Chemistry ~IB Economics ~IB History ~IB Math The reason why I am taking 7 IB courses is because (in case you haven't figured it out already) I am incredibly indecisive. I am doing well in History and feel I can obtain good marks, yet I also want to take Economics (but that's another issue for another thread...) Because of the fact that this is a heavy course load, I wonder if I should take IB Math Studies to ease the pain? Or will that be barring any doors (in particular, doors to med school). If anyone can help me out I would be immensely thankful!!! xxx

    Past Paper 1's

Hey Guys, So I have a paper 1 coming up as a test in my IB History Class. It's going to be on peacemaking and peacekeeping etc.. So my teacher always uses past papers from previous years, so does anyone know where there's a nice database or something for me to look through past papers? I've been looking and haven't found any good sites that have a few of them. Thanks

  16. My original HI research questions/topic was about the ways in which the media actually increased the fanbase surrounding the infamous 1930's criminals Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. I realized after much research that, although I can find plenty of 1st resources that are media pieces like Wanted posters, newspaper articles, cartoons, etc., I can't find how it actually affected the fanbase. I know that it help increase it to a large extent, but I can't find first resources or any articles actually pertaining to the question. Any suggestions on how I can adjust the question to be able to actually write an investigation on it?
