  1. Hi everyone, I am currently studying in Year 12 (Grade 11) and I'm wondering when do I apply. I visited many different Canadian unis website but all I can see is dates and deadline. Do I apply during my senior year or after my graduation? Because I see IB general requirement for a score to be eligible to apply, but wouldn't that be finalized after my graduation? Another concern that I have is that if I have to use my predicted score to apply this post-2019, I wouldn't get accepted since I'm going to be honest, my first term score is horrible: Mathematics SL 3, Computer Science HL 4, English A SL 4, Business Management HL 6, French AB 4, Music HL 5, Overall 26. But I believe that I can get my grades up since my first term grades have been a reminder of how much I have to work for IB and my grades have improved after term 2's mock exams. But is it too late now? My desired university is McMaster and some other Ontario unis such as Brock and Guelph. And I want to major in Computer Science. Also, this next question goes to everyone who major or majored in computer science in Canada. I have seen the IB general requirement for McMaster and it includes "Two of Sciences: Biology, Chemistry or Physics". But since I have decided a long time ago that I want to study computer science, I chose CS for group 4(Experimental and sciences). Does this mean I will not be eligible to apply? I am kind of in a dark and don't know how Canadian universities admission works since I would be the first (hopefully) to go study abroad in my gigantic family tree. I'm in a British international school that has quite a low reputation for alumni who went to a decent Canadian university. So literally I have no one to consult. Thank you very much 😊
  2. Hi everyone, I have applied UTSC and I received the conditional offer which says "Maintain the grades and get IB Diploma" I have maintained even improved my grade until the end of the semester. However for my IB Final results I droped 7 points from my PG, for some reasons I dropped 2 points in two of my subjects which I both recieved a PG of 6 (dropped 4 in these two subjects), and for some reasons I obtain none of the extra point (dropped another 2). However, my final results has still meet the minimum requiremnt of admission. I am wondering if the school will withdraw my offer by any chance and is it possible for me to retain my offer if school decideds to withdraw my offer. Thank you very much.
  3. Hi all! I was just wondering whether someone knows how getting into a Dutch university (especially University of Amsterdam) works. I have obtained a predicted GPA of 38 points and I have applied to a few uni's in Holland with that average. I have applied for political science programs. There seem to be no additional requirements other than passing your exams and having excellent English. I've researched this like hell and searched the depths of the internet and have come to wonder; Do they make me an offer based on these predicted grades (motivational letter, CV etc. in some cases) and then I will not get in only if I do not pass my exams? Meaning that I do not need to get 38 points to get in. This is what I understand from all that I have read. Especially in the case of this program and University of Amsterdam. I was wondering whether someone here from IB has been admitted to a Dutch uni? Please give me your knowledge!
  4. Hi everyone! Earlier I made a post asking about Bayview's admission process. However, I'm also applying for St Roberts and I'm really nervous. It's my first year in Canada, but my English is pretty good. I have full marks for every single subject in my grade seven report card and all my grade eights are above 95 besides my gym, which is a mid-eighty. I've done the ssat upper-level questions and they seem pretty easy. I know it's hard to say, but do you think I have a good chance of getting in? Please help me! I'm really really stressed over this!
  5. Hello, For my second attempt at the SAT, I did amazing in the main SAT but did extremely bad in the Essay. My superscore is 1520, but my Essay scores are 6/5/7 (attempt 1) and 6/3/6 (attempt 2). Will this affect my chances too much? Thanks.

    university

so basically I have got very bad grades in both my 11th-grade exams and I want to apply early but my 10th-grade marks are good and I have just started my 12th and my next exams are in December. My extra curriculars are really good but I am very much worried about getting into a good US university.Im from India. So what should I do?I feel like I have ruined my future.
  8. Hello, I was wondering if the options I choose in my HL subjects affects my admissions in universities especially USA. For example: I have taken Sets as my option for Math HL, but I was wondering if it affect my admission, because sets is comparatively easy to calculus. Would taking calculus give me an advantage over sets when it comes to applying for colleges? Thank you, Abhishek
  9. Hi, I applied to US university and got offers. When I applied, my transcripts were shown in ib grades and I also gave my predict. The ib policy of the school I want to go is like this: Students in IB programs may receive up to eight semester credits for each higher-level (HL) subject passed with a grade of five or higher. We encourage IB students to earn the full IB diploma. -Those who earn the full IB diploma with 30 or more diploma points may receive eight semester credits for each higher level (HL) subject with grades of five or higher -IB students may receive up to two semester credits for some standard level subjects with grades of five or higher. so does this mean that even if unfortunately I fail to get diploma (hope this won't happen!😕), my offer won't be rescinded since the school just encourage us to earn diploma? Btw, I know us university take seriously on students' senior grade and high school graduation certificate, but my school doesn't grant final grades+ certification based on our final ib results Pretty curious about this question because I heard US universities don't really care if you really get the diploma. They care more about ur gpa and sat and Ib is for credits. Thanks for the reply!!! 😊
  10. I recently got accepted into 2 IB schools in my region, one in the regular school board and one in the catholic school board. This year, our board announced that there would be 4 new schools to the 1 (I am in the York Region District School Board) already in place. Is it ok to go to a school which is starting it's IB program next year and is still training teachers? I can't say it is a too stellar school outside of the IB program. I would love to go to the school in the Catholic School board, but it is too far for my parents to drive and is a 1 hr and 15 min bus ride.
  11. I took the 2016 November exam and got 43 for my ib score HL chem 7 HL bio 7 HL English B 7 SL math 7 Extended essay (history) A and TOK B SL Korean A 6 SL History 6 I am quite surprised as the score was far better than I expected and I don't exactly get a grasp of what kind of university I can be admitted into with this score. I'm currently thinking of applying to National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, in which I will choose science (chemistry) for my course I am an international applicant. Can I be admitted with this score? also, what ranges of universities are possible with 43? Help me!
  12. Guys, I am in a hurry. I was doing my application for IE University in Segovia to take a dual bachelor of Law and Business Administration, when I "stumbled" in the admission tests. They require either the IE Admission test or other as SAT, LNAT, CAS or ACT. The Cambridge Assessment Test (CAS) includes those Language tests like the First (FCE), the Advanced and the Proficiency, right? Because I have done my First (FCE) Exam and if it does count, then I must use it as I haven't done any of these. Could anyone who knows or has been confronted with these admission tests explain help me? If I am not able to upload my FCE result, then can you explain to me how can I do one of the other exams and am I still on time? Really I need fast answers! Thanks in advance, Richard
  13. So, I really want to go to Yale. It's been my dream for a long time. I'm also applying for Harvard and Princeton, because those are the only Ivy Leagues that offer good financial aid to international students (I'm from Canada). If I get in, I plan on majoring in history or political science. The thing is, I'm in Math Studies SL. I don't plan on doing sciences or math or anything like that, I only want to do humanities. Do I have a good shot at getting into Yale, Princeton, or Harvard's history or political science programs with a 7 in Math Studies, given that my other grades, extra curriculars, and standardized test scores are perfect? Is it required of me to take Math SL to get into a humanities program? Thanks!
  14. Hey guys, I have taken my LNAT exam approximately two weeks ago. To do so I went trough the application process and have signed up to take the exam in a test facility in Switzerland. I know that the LNAT will be making my results available to me within early February according to their website. Also my universities are supposed to receive my results within 24h after the completion of the exams. Now I am wondering how the LNAT or Pearson respectively know which universities need my LNAT scores ? Will my universities be able to find my scores using my Name ? Because really there is not much more information I was required to provide throughout my application process, so I did not mention which universities I am applying to or what my UCAS code is for example. I checked the website but was not able to find any info on this topic. Maybe some of you guys are more familiar with the process and can help me out because I am worried that I missed out on some essential information they require to complete the process. Thanks for helping me out! Wish all of you the best of luck with your applications
  15. I still have a lot of time before my deadline. This is my first draft. Feel free to comment, change, or edit anything. Please comment and I'll share the link! Thanks a lot! P.S. As of now, this looks like a mess. I don't know how the PS tag got selected; it should be CE.
  16. I've tried to research but yenno, better to have all inputs. But how is Oxford? Specifically their science program? I'm not sure if I want to apply to Oxford because I'm pretty sure you have to be (basically) a 100% student to receive admission into Oxford.
  17. I am a non-EU citizen and will graduate at the age of 15. I am having a hard time finding bachelor's degrees that accept young students. Considering that admission criteria will be met, what are some universities (with reasonable rankings) (or countries) that accept students at an early age (preferably with affordable tuition or available scholarship)? I can manage to study in English, French and some Spanish. P.S. I am neither US- nor EU-based. GPA 3.6/4.0, Rank 10%. IELTS and SAT taken, scores not received. There are no community colleges in my country.

  19. Hello good people..! I was completing an online application for one of the US universities and they said I need to send my official transcript to a NACES member to get it translated..?!?? SO .. After a frantic search on google, I found out that NACES evaluates non-US high school transcripts so that US universities can evaluate them. (Which I find it rather idiotic because IB is WORLD-WIDE. I mean come on students in US take IB too..!!) In another forum, some students were complaining about how the NACES failed to "translate" their transcripts properly and did not recognise some of the systems. (which is rather disappointing and alarming at the same time!!) So I want to ask if anyone here sent their script to any of the NACES member and which one is the best for IB transcripts? Here is the link to the list of members and the official NACES website -->http://www.naces.org/members.htm Thanks!
  20. I was wondering if colleges mind if a student takes English b instead of English A. Does it influence their decision in admissions? Im thinking of changing from English A to English B. BTW I want to take an engineering course in college.
  21. Hey y'all, I'll complete my IB Diploma in May 2016 and my guidance counsellor recommended that I start looking at universities now. The courses I'll try to get into are Economics (LSE) and PPE (Oxford). What scores would usually get me into these schools? I currently have top marks at an academically challenging private school, play two sports (one 1st team for our school); in addition I am involved in different school activities and do community service/ service trips. I'll be taking HL Mathematics and HL Economics, so what marks would usually be required in these courses? Thanks a lot, Luisa
  22. Hi, I was just wondering if it is necessarily important to send in a recommendation letter from my respective teachers when applying to universities located primarly in the US or UK area. This is due to the fact the significant part of my teachers hate me for personal or occasional reasons and would most likely write a negative letter if they would consider writing one at all. However, I consider myself as an overall manageable student; since I don't struggle with the workload and recieve remarkable grades on the small tests my teachers decide to have occasionally (besides chemistry, which takes up 90% of my study time and still provides me poor results ). So this bring us back to the question, which is: Does the recommendation letter have to be sent when applying for admission and if that is the case; does it play any significant role for me being admitted to an US/UK university? Thank you for taking your time sharing your thoughts! ~Sina
  23. Hello everyone! I have a question about admission to Yale/Harvard/other Ivy League uni. Do these universities require that a student would have all 7 in his/her HL predicts? I understand that there are more chances that a person will be admiited to these colleges with all 7 in his predicts but can I apply if I have less than 7 in my HL predicts?
  24. Hi. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but anyways... It seems that universities require an English test score to prove your proficiency in English. I am confused whether to register for IELTS or TOEFL?? I mean which one is more widely accepted. I don't want to end up doing an exam to just realise that it may not be accepted by some universities. In case you need to know where I am thinking of applying I still don't know but may be Canada, Australia or Europe. And has anyone of you done these tests or is planning to do them?? (And what do you advise, should I do the test as soon as possible or should I wait? Is a lot of preparation required for the tests??) Thanks in advance.
