    Market failure notes

This is market failure notes that I made by myself. I got a 7 in econs HL for my school paper and my school is notorious for setting difficult papers so these notes should be good enough.
  2. Hi, guys. My EE topic due date is like literally tomorrow, so I really need major suggestions by people. (I have ideas below.) I'm taking English A SL, but I'm considering to take Category 3 English Extended Essay. Are there any other people who are in the same situation as me? Taking English EE but it's not their HL subject? I approached and talked to my English teacher / English Supervisor today and like they kinda don't recommend me to do it because my English language proficiency need to be Very high, especially when the markers are Native English speakers, so they'd expect so highly in terms of the language use, etc... But, like my situation is so complicated. Actually my first choice is supposed to be Economics EE, but until now I haven't got any idea to link my interests (K-Pop) to an economic theory, and it's literally tomorrow... I mean I kinda have a rough RQ for that one, but I don't know if it uses a lot of economic theory... So, I still have to find one in case my English EE really gets rejected, but it's really tough when I can't think of an economic theory. But anyways, if I were to do an English EE, I wanted to analyse various songs by this particular Korean boy band (BTS) and how it reflects the conditions in Korea as well as how they have influenced the society in the world, which is through their lyrics. (I can tell you my exact RQ through PM.) I thought it was a good idea at first and I can personally envision myself enjoying when writing it (well at least compared to Econs) I think, plus my EE coordinator (which is also my EE Econs supervisor) strongly encourage students, encouraged me, to do an EE on something I'm passionate about. But, right now, I don't know if this is a good idea for an English EE anymore because my English EE supervisor wasn't convinced, like they have to see if my English proficiency is high enough (but I'm actually not quite confident in that, I just really like the topic that I've thought on), whether analysing songs would reach 4000 words, and whether the topic is good enough, etc. So I'm going here to hopefully be able to see people's thoughts on my situation. So, please, please, please help me, just throw in your thoughts or like anything, what do you guys think about it? Do you guys think it's not doable too? Thank you so much!

    EE on Market structure

Hi guys. I have already looked through lots of ee on econs and I found out that most students did their ee on market structure, e.g. to what extent is ... operating in a perfect competition? If I were to do my ee on market structure, will it seem to be lacking originality which IB examiners are looking for?
  4. I plan to do my Extended Essay on Economics, specifically price discrimination. Please share your thoughts on my Research Question and suggest how I can make it better.RQ : To what extent does the price discrimination that exists in the Cafes in Bukit Jelutong affects the consumer’s demand?I’ve noticed that the local Cafes where I live in, has a common practice of price discrimination for either students through student discounts or happy hours where any meals bought at a specific time is offered at a lower price. Being someone who enjoys these price discrimination, it has made me wonder how effective it actually is. Do these cafes actually experience higher customer traffic when such price discrimination is implemented? I plan to test this through analyzing whether the price discrimination leads to higher demand of the good.
  5. Hi guys! (Just to give you some background about me : I am very interested in economics but my school does not offer it in group 6. So I sacrificed it in order to take history at group 3 which is a recommended subject for a law degree.) I do not have in-depth knowledge in econs but I studied econs in IGCSE(which is why I developed an interest in econs). I would like to do an ee on econs but I was intimidated by this :"the more background a student has in the subject, the better the chance he or she has of writing a good extended essay. Choosing to write the extended essay in a subject that is not being studied as part of the Diploma Programme often leads to lower marks" quoted from Extended essay guide. Any advice or similar experience on this matter ? Thank you very very much .
  6. hey people, I'm doing my EE on economics and my RQ is "To what extent has the government's "stipulated cap on the film market" led to the rise in demand in South India?" in chennai, India. The government has made rule that no theater should fix their price more than Rs120($2). so basically im gonna speak about taxes, externalities, black market (fully micro). so any suggestion on how to go about it.? thankz..!
  7. Hey all, I need help with my econs EE. Its about finding the breakeven point of a fast-food company. I have data on most of the variable costs as well as their revenue and am working on getting data on fixed costs. however, i was only able to get data for all of these on a 2 hour basis. Would this be enough to ensure a good ee on breakeven? also, is this topic 'econs' enough? do tell me if y'all need any more information on this
  8. If i shorten it, would this be a good macro article? http://www.aei.org/article/economics/raising-minimum-wage-is-sure-bet-to-create-more-jobless-young-americans/
  9. Its different, i know but its also very direct and allows for analysis.. thats what i feel but i could be wrong, ive not done even one commentary yet http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/odd/news/a476846/popular-ice-cream-shop-puts-up-prices-to-deter-customers.html
