  1. I am moving next year to another country in which they do not have Arabic speakers, therefore not a lot of people would sign up for Arabic A. I want to take Arabic A, English B HL, Bio HL, Chem HL, Business, Math analysis SL. At the school I am going to, they offer SELF TAUGHT Arabic B and Arabic ab initio (SL). I could take Arabic B self taught, as I already had experience with Arabic A in MYP, and its my mother tongue, but taking Arabic A is easier to get a 7/7 than in English A. I need helppp from current IB Students or past IB studentssss. In addition, this school offers French A which is also my mother tongue but I would much rather taking Arabic than French. HEELLLLPPP ASAP. I have to choose soon lmfao.
  2. Hi all! So basically, I had a topic ready for my EE, but then my teacher, who is also my EE mentor, decided that she wanted to put the book that I am researching for my EE as a free-choice for my English class, Little did I know, there is a new rule stating that we can't write EE's on books that we analyze in class, so now I have to change my topic and I need help. I was thinking of doing something on how eating disorders are portrayed in literature, and thus focusing on couple of literary works. Please, if you are a genius and now how to formulate EE questions, and/or know of a good book about eating disorders, please help me out. I will be forever grateful! I wish u all the luck (cause we're IB students and we need it).

  4. I can't decide which of the two to take. I am fluent in English so the difficulty of the subjects is not really at question. I prefer the topics of English A, the teacher, and the class size which is smaller and thus enables more discussion. But, I don't really like literature that much and dread the concept of reading (not an avid reader at all). I think English B would be a breeze, I wouldn't have to work nearly as much for a 7, and I would have more time to devote to my ECs and college requirements. What do you think I should do? What I want to study: Economics and Management/PPE at Oxford
  5. Hi! I am currently planning my RQ for my EE in Lang & Lit. I want to write an essay on something along the lines of "the use of humour/satire in The Simpson's & Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream". However, I am confused on how I should frame my research question as what I have right now seems very vague. Are there any specific topics I could explore more in depth that are common both of these works? As well, is this a suffiecent topic? P.S. I am pretty sure this would be a Category 3 Essay - and the guidelines states that the essay should have "textual analysis" and have reference to a "cultural context". I am not sure to what this would mean..
  6. Hi guys! I've just entered the IB DP1 programme, and I am taking English Lang & Lit HL. I am actually quite surprised with the amount of literature we'll be doing in the course as I'd though it would only cover like 50%. Anyway, I was wondering wether you guys could share some insight on the subject and give some tips on how to score well in it. PS. I'm not a native speaker - it's my second language but I'd say I am nearly fluent.. I am also doing another language A (langlit), so bearing that in mind, will the two be too hard to juggle? I hardly read that often but I am good at essay writing.. and I am pretty sure I'll find the lang bit very interesting as it's in a way related to sociology - a strong interest of mine.
  7. hello, as the title suggests which is the easiest to write about in paper two since you are given different types of writing. in my opinion poetry is easiest, but my annoying english teacher chose drama for the whole class. can i write on a topic other than the class like choose poetry in the official exam instead of drama?

  9. Hi! As SL students probably know, we get guiding questions with each text for analysis. I was wonderig if it was required that we respond to them? The front of the paper says that it isn't required that we respond to them, so in my mock exam I wrote a commentary, like you would in HL. But soon after my teacher said we had to respond to the questions, so I was a little confused. Thank you!
  10. How did you guys find it? How did it go for you all?
