  1. So i finished last year the IB with 30 points (29 + 1 for TOK but i lost one point because there was a fraud problem in history HL which was one of my courses so they just put an average on everyone) and i also got the bilingual diploma for english and spanish. With that i wonder which unis or in which countries can i study a humanities degree with this. I am currently taking a german course (currentlu b1) but i doubt i will take the DAF before i must apply to unis if i want to start in april. In any case any help or infor you can give me is appreciated.
  2. What I've got so far is roughly: 'Was the fall of the Carolingian Empire and the establishment of its three successor kingdoms the greatest cause of Franco-German enmity throughout European history?' This is, as you can see, hopelessly broad. I've got research done concerning The Empire and its fall, and the history of ethnic tension in what was at the time Middle Francia, and on early feeling of nationalism in France and Germany. Any help narrowing this question would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  3. Soo I'm really interested in Criminology and Criminal Justice but I can't seem to fin an english programme for those in Europe and it's really frustrating, any Universities in mind that you guys know offer these programmes?

    STEM COMPETITION

Hello, I'm searching for two students, which are full of motivation that would like to form a team and participate in a competition together. The theme I really want to work on is air pollution analysis. I think this is a great opportunity to try yourself in a different field, gain new cooperation skills and of course have something to write in your personal statement. (Ha ha ha we are all worrying about that last point, aren't we?) I hope someone will return my call! Have a nice day! Note: All three students have to be from different countries and from the European Union between 15 and 19 years old. You can find more information about this competition here: https://olcms.stem4youth.pl/competition/
  5. Hey I live in the Netherlands started DP1 this week and I was wondering if any European students that were also doing the IB wanted to create a study group. It would be cool if we took similar subjects so that we could help each other out, and I think it doesn't matter really were in Europe as the time is either the same or 1 or 2 hours difference Anyway if anyone is interested hmu. My IB classes are the following: Chemistry HL Biology HL English A Lit HL Geography SL Spanish SL Math SL

    Med schools in English, Europe

I am looking for a university to go to in 2018. I am planning to go to med school once I finish the IB. However, I cannot afford to go to an expensive university in the UK or America. Does anyone know any places where I could go to university to do medicine in english at relatively low cost. Thank you.
  8. I was looking for requirements for IB to be accepted in Germany. For a person who will study film / design is it required to have a science topic in HL? This is the document I read, it says that in page two section b) : http://toolbox1.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/site_0341/internationalschoolulm_germanyrecogibdiploma_091714.pdf
  9. Guys, I am in a hurry. I was doing my application for IE University in Segovia to take a dual bachelor of Law and Business Administration, when I "stumbled" in the admission tests. They require either the IE Admission test or other as SAT, LNAT, CAS or ACT. The Cambridge Assessment Test (CAS) includes those Language tests like the First (FCE), the Advanced and the Proficiency, right? Because I have done my First (FCE) Exam and if it does count, then I must use it as I haven't done any of these. Could anyone who knows or has been confronted with these admission tests explain help me? If I am not able to upload my FCE result, then can you explain to me how can I do one of the other exams and am I still on time? Really I need fast answers! Thanks in advance, Richard
  10. Hey, I'm a French citizen who lives in the United States and is applying to UK colleges. I was looking at requirements for EU colleges and I started realizing that their IB requirements seem exceedingly high. For example, UCL, EPFL, Imperial college (which are all high-end, I will admit) require a 39 Predicted Grade total. I don't know about folks in Europe but here that means 6 on almost every single exam. There's no way any teacher would give anyone a predicted grade around or above 6 at my school, especially for science courses. I have a 4.3 GPA and I'm in the top 10 percent of my school with an 800 on the SAT Math, so how comes these scores are so unbelievably hard to achieve even with my high standings? Comparatively, Ivy League requirements here in the US seem like a breeze. Are IB teachers elsewhere just more lenient or am I not trying hard enough?

    Sciences Po undergrad

Hey guys! I was wondering if anybody had any kind of information about this specific university, specially le havre campus. Im planning on applying, but I have no clue on average IB score requirements, financial aid, etc. I have already look at the site. Any information is good Regards.
  12. Hello everyone. So yeah, the question is already stated above. However, I am concerned that not too many universities will take me with 30 IB points, in Europe, that is. I was hoping for like 34... that didn't happen. Also, I don't know if this will have any effect, I completed my IB Diploma in May and am taking a gap year until mid 2017. Preferably I want to apply to Sweden, where there don't seem to be any specific entry requirements... Back to the question... do you think I can make it into some decent Swedish uni or not-so-decent... for an Economics/Humanities/Modern Languages, this sort of stuff, undergraduate degree? I heard they have two attempts. If you don't think I can get into a Swedish uni, please tell me directly, and, if you have, it'd be nice to hear an alternative. Still I am a little unsure, and considering to resit a few subjects next May Session... could possibly push up my grades by one or two points (if that even matters) Thanks in advance for your answer. Cheers.

    Studying in Europe

Hi Guys! I wanted to ask if you know universities in Europe that offer physics as an English taught programme or exceptionally good universities that offer physics even though it is not in English. I know that Lund University offers physics in English but I don't know any other. I would really appreciate any kind of help.
  14. I've taken about a year of Math SL and i've come to realize I just cant do it anymore. There's too much graphing, which i'm not good at, and when the topics begin to mix together I can't solve the equations. So i've decided to drop to Math Studies. I'm taking English A HL, Swedish B SL, Chemistry HL, Biology HL, and Physics SL as well. I was wondering if anyone knew about any Medical Universities in Europe that accept applicants with Math studies. I would really appreciate it
  15. How is everyone feeling about it? I did an essay on Stalin rise to power, foreign involvement in the Spanish civil war, and the one on the creation of FRG. I think it was okay-ish. Thoughts?

    Engineering with SL Maths

I am a student in IB2 with Physics HL, Chemistry HL, English HL, Economics HL. Maths SL and English SL and I have always dreamt of becoming an engineering particularly a mechanical or electrical engineer. I know that many universities in the UK would not accept me because I do not have HL maths however what is the case in the rest of the world such as Canada, the US and rest of Europe? Could anyone who was in the same shoes or is in the same shoes as me help me out ? PS: I know I am at a disadvantage in the UK for having taken SL math so it would be appreciated it that was not reiterated for I feel enough upset about it.
  18. So basically my question is which social science/humanities career is the most recognized and respected and has most career scope in US/Europe?
  19. I've been considering going to university in Switzerland, but my main problem is the living cost. From what I understand, the Erasmus scholarship covers that, but I'm confused with their website (not only that, but they're changing the scholarship). As I live in the US, would I be eligible to apply for that scholarship? Also, if anyone knows, when should I apply and what are my chances of getting the scholarship? And if the chances are low, are there other scholarships besides Erasmus that could help me with that problem?

  22. I want to study in Germany. But I read from one forum that german universities dislike IB Dioloma students so I worry about it. Also, There aren't many information that I can find. +I am learning German , not fluent. Furthermore , I am considering change to Ib certificate, because I feel like I do not have time to study German. I am doing, Mathematics, Language A and Biology at HL & English B, Economics and Spanish ab initio at SL. I am from non-English speak country and started learning Spanish as I started IB. But from this summer my interest in Germany university got bigger so I ended up struggling with languages ! And I can't deny that TOK is making me crazy. -so if I change to certificate , I can drop spanish and will have time for learning German more. Do you know any cases IB student accepted at Germany University (especially at Homboldt?) with what score? and Certificate? ( I want to study Biology.) please help me! I already asked to uni but They just reply with links for international student which does not include direct answer. +Have completed 4 consecutive years of a third language (in my case Spanish B) : I copied from somewhere. How could I be able to proof this?

    need help with History IA

I´ve been researching about the Treaty of Versailles for a while; however i still can´t formulate a question. My topic is about the consequences of this treaty on Germany and in Europe. To what extent was the TofV. the main reason why Europe was in crisis during the 20´s? Is it ok? good topic, too narrow or broad? Help please I need to start at once Don´t leave this post without commenting I really need your help Appreciation 100% Thank you
  25. Hey everyone! i began my IA under the title of 'How successful was Bismarck's alliance system in fulfilling his aims from 1871-1890?' In order to answer the question, I was going to research his aims, the treaties/alliances, their outcomes, and the surrounding events that may have affected these alliances. However my problem is that I like to cover things thoroughly. For a rough overview of the chronology i had in mind: >Context (situation of Bismarck/Europe - may affect his aims. Only brief, mind.) Overriding fear of the 'nightmare coalition' of F & R. >Dreikaiserbund 1873. G, A-H, R. >War in Sight Crisis 1875 (affected dreikaiserbund due to the conflict between russia with germany) >Eastern Crisis 75-78 (Turks killing balkan peoples, Russia defeating the turks in 1877. Treaty of San Stefano '78. found unacceptable by other powers.) >Congress of Berlin.78, 'climax' of Bismarck's career. 'honest broker.' (russia dissatisfied, basically ruined 3 emperors league. don't think it's also worth noting that bismarck wanted this to be held in paris in case it upset russia, to disassociate himself from it?) >Resentment from russia over this pushed G and A-H together to the dual alliance 1879. defensive treaty, fear of russia, etc. >Dreikaiserbund revived in 1881 as russia fearing diplomatic isolation. >Triple Alliance 1882 - dual expanded to Italy, although Italy a weak ally. >dreikaiserbund renewed in 1884 (but unsure of significance of this) >Bulgarian crisis 85/86 - prince alexander kidnapped and forced to abdicate. (as this affected the dreikaiserbund) >Reinsurance treaty 1887 - but was weak due to the amount it clashed with dual alliance. As you can see, this is FAR too much for the history IA, considering i get 500-600 ish words to summarise all evidence I found for this, and only 500-650ish to analyse it all and make an argument out of it! In fact, i did note that I started with it - my summary of evidence is about 700 words with any potentially analytical stuff cut out, it has about 30 references, yet I'm only up to Congress of Berlin. (chronologically) So evidently this is far too much, but my question is how much do you guys think it should be cut by?? Severely irritated and down about how much time has gone into this and it needs to be changed again, is all. Should I focus on one specific treaty, eg how successful was dreikaiserbund? Or two - how successful were dreikaiserbund and dual alliance? Or should I focus on a very small range of it, such as from dreikaiserbund to congress of berlin? I just don't know where to cut the line at the moment! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
