    EE BIOLOGY HELPP

Hello, my name is Martina and I really need someone to help me with the EE, since my supervisor is avoiding me. The subject I chose for the EE is biology. I'd like to come up with an experiment that would allow me to talk about human physiology, but without involving people. (i did the same for the IAs in bio and chem by using enzymes and antacids) I'm now thinking about using visking tubes for my experiment. They could represent either the gut or the dialysis machine. I suppose that I cannot use them as a gut model since I'm already talking about the digestive system in the abovementioned IAs. So my question is: How can I carry on an experiment on dialysis with visking tube? I could possibly use the substances that are present in the dialysis fluid (like sodium, potassium, calcium etc) and showing their diffusion through the tube as in the machine, but I wouldn't have variables. Do you guys have any ideas? I'd really appreciate your help, I'm really struggling

    English B EE

Hey, im new here and I need some help. I asked my supervisor for it but... let's say he wasn't in the mood for that, I want to begin my EE but I'm not sure if my topic fits in the categories of the guide. Please, any recommendations, criticism or approvals are welcomed. The research question is " How far the jew idiosincrasy is reflected on the language used in the graphic novel Maus". I think this fits in category 2 but please help, i'm very lost :'c
  3. Hi everyone, I'm currently in the process of writing my EE and am doing a comparative study on two anti-war novels of WWII. My exact question is: "How and to what effect do Joseph Heller and Kurt Vonnegut use black humour to satirise free will within Catch 22 and Slaughterhouse 5?" I'm at the point of finalising most of my research but am very concerned that everything I'm looking at might be completely useless and won't actually help me write the essay when it comes down to it. So, what I am hoping is that someone on here can provide some insight on what to research and think about in order to ensure that the research doesn't prove completely useless and what to look into to within each novel in order to better compare/contrast them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

    EE topic help

I told my teacher that I wanted to do my EE in English, using the work of Stephen King. I asked if it was better to talk about one book or to compare two different books, and he told me a comparison would be a more interesting choice. I was reading IT but still had to find the second book and the topic to compare. I wanted to take a completely different genre of book but that would be a lot harder and I don't have much time, so I might end up choosing another one of his books like The Shining or Pet Sematary. Regarless of what book I choose, I still don't know what topic to discuss in my EE. I was thinking about taking two characters or the way each book treats a certain theme, but I'm not sure. My question is: what are interesting topics/things to compare in horror/thriller books?

    IB History Extended Essay Help

Hey y'all, I have started my EE research and I was wondering if this is a good research question: "To what extent was the Great Purge (1936-1938) in the Soviet Union a result of Stalin and his Politburo?" The reason I chose this was because historians debate whether the cause of the purge was on the ruthless nature of Stalin and his politburo, or whether it was a combination of Stalin and regional leadership that pushed the purge too far. The difficulty I'm finding is that it's hard for me to create a single clear argument because there is so much debate on it and I don't think that one is necessarily right over the other. Help would be much appreciated.
  6. Hi guys, so this is my situation. for my extended essay, i planned to go for computer science subject on something about machine learning. My research question was about how effective a boosting model was in predicting stock prices. So i asked my teacher, and after reading my outline he said that he considered this an ITGS essay. What do you guys think? Can it be used for CS? What should i alter and how to improve? Thanks. P.S. i am also unsure of this topic is too advanced for me as i am not really experienced in the R language or programming in general, but have someone close who is very familiar.

    World studies extended essay

Okay so I am a first year iB diploma currently taking Chem, Maths, Bio HL and English, Italian and Geography SL and with 40/42 predicted grade. I now have to choose the subject and idea for my EE and since I'd like to do medicine then at uni my teachers have all advised me to get informed about the World Studies extended essay as they thing it will be a great opportunity to endorse a global health issue related topic. I now have two queries: Has anybody done a World Studies Extended essay on a health related topic and can give me advice? What would a possible medical student do as extended essay? Thanks so much xx

Structuring the body of the EE

How do you structure the body of an Extended Essay? I'm going to do mine in History, probably on Mao's 100 Flowers Campaign, and I'm unsure as to how to plan it. For example, if someone was doing their EE on the causes of WW1 (too broad of a topic, I know, but bear with me), would they do each body paragraph on a different cause? Or would some paragraphs try to disprove/argue against other paragraphs? How do you do it? If I have to do 8 paragraphs on 8 different causes, then I think I might struggle!

    China Primary Sources

So I will be doing my Extended Essay on either China's Cultural Revolution or before it; specifically, either the Red Guard, the Wuhan Incident or the Hundred Flowers Campaign. But I'm wondering where I could find primary sources. Are there any specific websites or books? Any online archives that I could access? Any pictures, newspaper/magazine articles, etc. from the time would be really useful! Also figures and statistics (of anything) would be great, but it's difficult to find them, especially for individual cities. I'm not sure about this, but I think that the Chinese government hasn't actually released any primary sources and so the only ones historians have are diaries, letters, photographs and interviews. I just want to verify this though as I don't remember the details!

    Biology EE wordcount

Hello, I was wondering what counts in the word count for a biology EE, does calculation, table titles, headings, appendix, etc count?
  11. Does anyone have an example of what an interim reflection for science could be?
  12. Hi! I am writing my EE in biology and I would really appreciate getting some advice from people who have done it in the past. What was hard for you in the process? How did you solve it? Is there anything that you think would have been helpfull to know earlier in the process? General advice and so on would be really helpfull for me both regarding the writing of the essay and the lab. Thank you

Hey guys, hope all of you are well! So I recently submitted by extended essay options (both of them being history related questions). I really want to refine my questions and get an insight on them, in regards to the questions being doable or not. Thanks in advance! Question 2: To what extent has advancements in technology led to developments within the automotive industry post World War Two?
  14. Hey! I am currently in the process of brainstorming and conducting preliminary research, and I've come up with this (physics ee): To explore the effect of various discharge cycles (the amount of resistance) on the power output of a photovoltaic solar cell (using a decade box) Would anyone have any advice as to a. whether this topic would work, and b. how do I approach this extended essay (essentially how do I approach a physics extended essay) I am sorry the questions are so broad but I would be happy with any sort of advice or guidance I can get. Thanks!

EE - which subject to choose?

Hello everyone I am willing to apply for medicine in the UK. I am aware of the competitiveness of this course and thus, I would like to maximize my chances of getting in. I know that medical universities perceive more favourably candidates with an EE in biology as it proves their interest in the area. However, to what extent is it taken into account? My point is, writing an EE in science and getting and A is difficult and definitely more risky in comparison to other subjects. My dilemma is: Is it better to write an EE in biology and risk getting a worse grade but having a science topic as an advantage? OR Would it be more secure for me to do an EE in English B, while in all likelihood putting the same effort (as in bio EE) it would provide a sure A? All in all, which option is more reasonable to choose? Do universities value more following your area of interest or do they firstly consider points? What do you think? Thank you for all your opinions!
  16. Hello. First time posting- I have thought of a Research Question, and was wondering if it was too broad. I would greatly appreciate any advice. "How does Niffenegger use stylistic and thematic devices to portray the motif of loss in the Time Traveler’s Wife?" Many thanks! P.S. In what topic would this EE, or a similar one, be under?

    My Biology EE Question

Hi, I'm in the planning stage of my extended essay and I have decided to do Biology. I came up with one question: How does Aloe Vera compare with Oregon Grape Root as an antimicrobial to slow down bacteria growth? Please share your opinions and ideas below. Thank you very much. I would really appreciate it.
  18. Hey! I am confused about internal citations for the Extended Essay. I have internally cited primary and historiographical/secondary sources, but do I have to cite EVERYTHING? My EE is in history, and almost nothing is just "common knowledge." What do I do?
  19. So I have started to think about what I would like to do for my Extended Essay, we have to give in our ideas in around a weeks time. Just need some help refining my ideas, any tips would be appreciated! How has the Volkswagen Diesel Emission Scandal impacted the brand image of Volkswagen (Related to Business Management) Comparing the speeches of Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, and how the language impacted the election results (English Language and Literature) How can war be justified (History) Thanks in advance!
  20. Hi! I want to do my extended essay on proving Newton's law of cooling. I want to use different liquids and do an experiment in order to compare what the law says to the real life situation. I'm on Math HL and Physics SL and I'm not quite sure where this ee could fit. My preference is math, but I'm afraid that maybe it's too experimental. What do you think? Thank you!
  21. Hello everyone. Currently I'm trying to think of a topic and a research question for the extended essay. Among the 6 subject groups, only math(and maybe physics) is of interest to me, but right now I'm not sure if my topic would work well for me so I would like to ask you guys to pitch in your thoughts or suggestions on it. My idea is trying to derive a formula for any conic section that is in an angle using analytical geometry and loci, and maybe compare it with other methods like matrices or rotation functions. I don't have a lot of idea on matrices though I also want to try to use the applications of calculus, but i dont know where to start thanks for the help

History EE - I need help!

Hey, for my Extended Essay for History I want to write a comparative essay on Lenin and Stalin and the extent to which they followed Marxist ideology. Is this considered "trivial nature"? Also, how would I frame my question. I also want to utilise case studies from Hitler/Mussolini's reign to demonstrate that a lot of their policies were similar or even the same as Stalin/Lenin's. Some ideas I had were. How successful were both Lenin and Stalin in following Marxist Ideology? To what extent were both Lenin and Stalin implement Marxist ideology after the fall of Tsarist Russia in 1917?
