  1. I did not get my IB Diploma as I got a 3 in physics but a 4 in my two other HLs. I missed a 4 in physics by 1 mark/percent. I am on the grade boundary. The upper boundary is a 36, I got 36. What is the chance and probability that my grade will increase?

    Failed IB experiment

Long story short, I did a bio extended essay, messed up the experiment, instead of isolated colonies I got a single weird blob. No data collected. Failed the experiment. Am I allowed to use external data to support my arguments?
  3. So I'm doing my EE in Biology and my research question is "To what extent does constant cold acclimation at the temperatures 18˚, 5˚, and 0˚ degrees centigrade affect the seed germination rate and subsequent total biomass yield produced in Phleum pratense L. (Timothy grass)?". The experiment was supposed to investigate the effects of seeds germinated under cold temperatures and the effect on the biomass produced in seeds after germination among different temperatures. I even had some data with around an 80% germination rate for the seeds at 10˚C. But 10 days in, and 100% of the seeds at 18˚ (my control group!) germinated and 0% of the seeds germinated in both the 5˚ & 0˚ groups. I have no ideas for any other topics in Biology. What do I do? Continue writing the EE with my failed experiment and try to come up with reasons why it failed, and even attempt to state that this could be beneficial to the scientific community? Try to switch research questions within Biology? Or do I all out switch subjects to English and just "type away"? I need answers quick, because I have 9 weeks left until I have to present an EE without a conclusion. Future message to those who reply: Thank you for taking your time to read and answer!
  4. I had a pretty okay year in my opinion (2016); and receiving my results back just recently has ruined the new year for me... i have failed my diploma by 1 point (HL subjects did not add up to 12)... i cried for days and was so devastated... im really angry at myself as well because i did not know that you would be able to get special consideration if you were sick doing the exam... i thought it was only on the day, which was stupid of me... you could get special consideration if applying within 10 days of the exam... I was extremely sick during the chemistry exams; i was dizzy with a fever and couldn't even think properly... to make things worse, i threw up that morning as well... pretty much, i was dead during the exam... and now i failed by 3 marks because of a simple mistake i made in the chemistry exam... ive been searching around, and i cant find way to apply for special considerations late.. with a failed diploma... it makes it extremely difficult and pretty much impossible to get into anything at the university i wish to apply to... i really dont know what to do anymore... someone please help... is there any possibility ill pass if i get it remarked? :'( please help...
  5. I recently did my IOC and I failed terribly. I'm not even expecting higher than a 9/30 and I am traumatized for life. I am not a literature student but I am hoping to at least boost my total IB score, however this is already a downer for me and I don't think I'm gonna get even a 5 in Language A. Is there any way that I can save myself or counter this disastrous result from getting me lower than a 5 in Language A?
  6. I didn't receive my diploma because I failed my extended essay. I am retaking math hl and my extended essay. Will I receive my diploma, if I fail my essay again BUT get one extra point in mathematics, therefore bringing my total points from 27 to 28 ? I read a document somewhere that getting more than 27 points means you dont have to pass your extended essay to receive your diploma. Thank you so much in advance for your time, everyone
